[ ALRIGHT. So it's been years since I've RP'd on a forum. But here's my best shot! oTL Also, if this does get going & I seem to vanish a little...or a lot...feel free to prod me here or on Tumblr with a "YO. You gonna do a thing?"...or something. One thing I remember from my previous forum RP...my muses are pains in the butts & motivation can be scarce. So yeah...prods may be needed later on. ]
The Manor ballroom was large, open with vaulted ceilings and slick, smooth hardwood flooring. Sometimes. Other times the floor was cool marble, of a variety of colors. Zipper has yet to figure out if there was a pattern to the floor's changing. They only knew that some days it was polished hardwood of the finest grain, others it was cream or coal colored marble, or reds, or blues, or oranges, or well, perhaps other colors they'd yet to see mixed in. For now though, the floor was a dark hardwood, and perfectly lovely for skating. As one does on such a smooth, clean floor. Of course skating may prove tricky without socks sometimes, but Zipper had an ace up their sleeve. Their wax was perfect for gliding on, just so, along the floor. The fact that it left a bit of residue behind was possibly an issue, but Zipper was sure they'd remember to clean it up this time. Absolutely. Maybe. And the wax pillars they'd erected as well. Several were stationed unevenly through the room. Some of the pillars had various sizes of hardened wax pipes hanging from them, and whenever Zipper would skate by, the pipes would sway in the "breeze" of their passing. The sounds made were muted, it was only wax, but still fairly loud. Of course, a few of the other pillars chimes were made of metal or wood, held loosely in wax. The noise made by these was clearer, and all the sweeter for it. These were some of their favorite ones to blow by. It was maybe a bit of an odd hour for ballroom use, though Zipper had seen a small number of Cult Members making their way to the Temple. No one had said a word to the warbling monster though. Considering Zipper was currently only taking up a small portion, perhaps a fifth, of the large room, it may not be particularly surprising that they'd yet to be disturbed in their noise making. Not that being interrupted would be a bother. Maybe the person interrupting would want to join in!

Cirrus floated up to the ballroom door, captivated by the chimes ringing out from within. They didn't like to intrude, but they just couldn't help opening the door a crack and slipping in to the wide, empty room. Except, it wasn't empty like it usually was. Today there was a creature zipping up and down the dark wooden floor, leaving a trail of something in their wake. They stood and watched the mesmerising little thing gliding seamlessly between the pillars (which were certainly not there last time they checked) until they couldn't resist any more and joined in. Well, they weren't technically sliding on the floor since they weren't touching the ground, but it was fun nonetheless. After a couple of seconds of skidding through the space a couple of inches from the floor, they looked at the fuzzy-looking being that was across the room to see if they had any problems with Cirrus sharing the space.

They noticed their sudden companion, how could they not considering the empty echo of the room. Zipper didn't mind though, in fact they were quite pleased someone had joined them. Upon noticing the newcomer turning their attention on Zipper after a few moments of gliding along, Zipper paused and looked back. For a moment, they forgot that full attention was rarely enjoyed from them, for it meant their ears were alert, pointed at where they looked, with flame bright and shining like a beacon from the reflective surface of the inner ear. So for a short moment, the person floating just so, was faced with the equivalent of two spot lights staring straight at them. Then Zipper remembered, and quickly flicked their ears away, burbling a low sorry sound. "Ah, sorry, sorry. Forgot about my ears." They called, darting across the distance between the two. "Bright ears are bright, yeah, sorry." Zipper said, ears swinging down more, with a sheepish grin forming. "Welcome to ballroom, yeah. Playing, skating, noise making. Was too quite, so noise making. You join in, more noise! Bump dangling bits, but be careful of red wax, white wax. Stick to brown wax. Or grey wax. Maybe dark warm, light cool. Er, maybe just stick to brown and grey. Hard to tell sometimes if wax is hot hot or cold cold. But blue-black is no good and red-white is no good. Er." Only realizing they may have been babbling a little when they needed to take a breath suddenly, Zipper pipped out a quick "Whoops, babbling, sorry, sorry. Er, skating, yeah." Before covering their own mouth with their hands, hiding another sheepish grin and cutting off any possible continued babble, though a few twittering purr-like sounds still leaked out from behind their fingers.
[ Also, I hope the purple is read-able. On my screen, the white is a bit too...bright...against the blue of the default board to me. Not a big deal to deal with, just bothers me on my own posts...at least...longer posts anyways. XB ]

(( the purple is fine c: i agree that the default type is a little hard to read when there is a lot of it ))
Cirrus continued to look at the fuzzy creature, their head tilted slightly to the side and an amused grin on their pale face. the light hadn't really bothered them much- after all, their eyes 'weren't organic' as they had heard people say. They could hardly understand what was being said, but they gathered that the wind chime noises that had drawn them to the room came from the hanging pieces of metal, wood and wax being caught up in the sweeping breeze of the skating. And that they were welcome to join in. Shifting their gaze to the nearest pillar, they stepped back to prepare speed and pushed off with their back foot. They skidded smoothly towards it, and when they were sure that there was no chance of collision they closed their eyes and let the momentum carry them to it. The chimes rang out beautifully, even better and louder here than they had been from a distance. Cirrus opened their eyes, grinning. "I like this so much more than the normal ballroom!"

((Mind if I join too?))
Call had been exploring a bit more, having decided to take a break from patrolling, when she heard voices coming from the ballroom. Her single flame flickered as her mouth twisted in surprise. She floated into the room and if she has an eyebrow she would have raised it high at the view before her.
"What are you both doing?"

Cirrus turned towards the new voice and grinned again. They were thrilled to have yet another person, and they were sure that their fluffy (waxy?) friend would be too. They couldn't really make out any features of the new arrival but hey, who were they to judge on appearances? "Skating! We're skating. The floor is perfect for it!" They started towards a new pillar and giggled like a kid when the chimes jingled as they swooped past. In their excitement they rose a little too high off the ground, nearly crashing into the chimes, but noticed their elevation just in time and dropped back down to ground level.

Skating? Call chuckled as she floated closer. "Across the floor, I assume? I suppose it is rather slippery today..." She eyed the surface as her flame shrank slightly. While the nightmare entity could not actually touch the ground, she could see the light easily gleaming off of it.
It seemed to be amusing the others to slide across the floor like this. A smirk twitched at her fanged mouth. "I bet you can't spin and slide at the same time."

Zipper watched, eyes sparkling with excitement as Cirrus rushed one of the pillars, breezing by and setting the chimes to making music. They couldn't help the very loud, very happy, trill at the words spoken by their comrade. They moved their hands from their mouth, about to speak when another voice sounded instead. It was another person, floating just so off the ground. Zipper burbled another happy sound as Cirrus beat them to the explanation. "Yes, yes. Skating. Sliding, speedy by pillars. Wax move, make noise. Silence be gone!" Zipper added, grinning wide. Then, a challenge was issued. Oh, that would be fun. "Zipper shall! Watch, watch." They shouted gleefully, warbling even as they turned and pushed off. Building up momentum was easy enough, and they passed by a couple pillars as well, causing several tinkling and plonking sounds to ring out. With another whoop, Zipper set themselves spinning, the wax around their feet, though multicolored, most resembled a fast moving stream, bubbling up and around the skater's toes. They managed one, two, three spins while still moving forward, before dizziness caught up with them. A misplaced bubble of wax, a misstep in their stride, and with a yelp Zipper pitched, not quite forward, and straight into one of the pillars. The wax of the pillar seemed to almost explode, trying to get out of the way of the one in charge of it, before rushing back in to catch Zipper instead. The results of the fall, a mound of wax approximately the size of two Zippers sat on the floor, still for only a moment. With a crow of laughter, Zipper burst out of the top. "I did it! But then I crashed. Good thing crashed into wax though, wax caught me instead of the floor. So no pain!" They called out, laughing as they shuffled the wax around and away to get clear of it.

Cirrus was about to accept the newcomer's challenge, but was beaten to it. They cheered enthusiastically for Zipper, but yelped out for them to stop when they realised that their new friend was on course to crash. There was nothing that they could do but wince a little on impact, and send a quick thumbs-up in their direction after hearing that they were ok. Propelling themself forward, they attempted the challenge. Despite their best efforts to weave a path between the obstacles, there were too many and it was to difficult to control their direction at speed. They found themself spinning forward on a course similar to Zipper's, headed for a pillar, but used their levitation to rise up and flip backwards before they could hit it. They looked back at Call to see whether she considered that a success. "That was close enough, right?"

Call couldn't help but burst into a fit of snickering at the first attempt, although she did wonder for a brief moment if they were alright. The second attempt went better and if she had shoulders visible she would have shrugged. Call floated over, grinning wide.
"I suppose those both counted. Although that first try looked rather painful. Are you alright?" Call snorted and turned to the other. "And impressive, might I add."

Cirrus bowed melodramatically, from their point in mid-air and grinned. They were pretty chuffed with the praise, perhaps a little more than the situation really called for. "Why thank you! I try."
Dropping back down to the ground, they glanced at their two companions again. They figured that this might be a good time to actually introduce themself, and stuck their hand out into a space between the two since they couldn't decide which to try to shake hands with first. This was quite counter-productive, but Cirrus figured that it would be the thing that would hurt neither of their feelings. "I'm Cirrus, by the way! Hello!"

The nightmare entity's emerald flame flared as she eyed the outstretched hand. It wasn't like she actually had a hand to shake it with so instead she nodded in acknowledgement at Cirrus.
"You can call me... Call. It is, ah, nice to meet you." That was what humans did to introduce themselves, yes? Her mouth curled upward, a fang poking out over her partially hidden lips. Such strange customs, though she didn't mind much.

Zipper trilled happily as they watched Cirrus take their turn at the challenge. As Zipper realized where they were headed, they almost squashed the pillar down into a puddle, only to realize that Cirrus had navigated the obstacle perfectly well on their own. "Good, good! Floating is a good way to not crash, yes." They called cheerfully, clapping their palms together. At Call's question, Zipper turned to them once more. "Pain? Nope. No pain. Wax is soft for me. Because it's mine!" Zipper said grinning. To demonstrate, they pull a bit of wax from around them, manipulating it through the air and making it form different shapes. A star, a crescent moon, a triangle, and even a candle. "My body makes it and I control it. You can see a little, in my belly." They added, pointing to their semi-transparent stomach, where a clouded storm of color could be seen writhing behind the grey of their skin and fuzzy covering. Zipper chirped and poked their stomach. Zipper hummed happily as the other two went on to introduce themselves. When Cirrus stuck his hand out, Zipper gave a happy burble and snagged it with their own. "Cirrus, Call. Good, yes. Hey hi! I'm Zipper. It's a good time, meeting friends. Making noise and music!" They gave another happy trill, only to have every pillar shiver a little, adding in all the sounds of the various wind chimes they'd created. "Happy noise!"

Cirrus enthusiastically shook Zipper's hand, smiling charmingly at Call. Releasing Zipper's hand, they peered curiously at their belly. "That's wax? Wow. It looks like a hurricane." They lifted up their thick sweater a little to show their belly. A blue blame was faintly visible through their translucent body, a little like Zipper's wax in theirs. "I'm made of water! I can control that, too!" They dropped their sweater. "I don't make it, though." They mused for a minute about this and how many potential traps that it would allow to happen. "That's kind of a flaw, come to think of it." Immediately abandoning that train of thought, Cirrus grinned at the sound of all the chimes going at once. They didn't think it was possible to get tired of such a lovely noise.

Call could not help but snicker further at the antics of the two. The "Zipper" character's way of speech was amusing, though not in a derogatory way. She actually found herself smiling genuinely at the sound of wind chimes echoing in the ballroom.
She observed Cirrus' stomach for a moment when they revealed it briefly and contemplated their words. "Made of water and made of wax, hmm? Huh, that almost sounded like a strange poem. I would join in on the shirt lifting but I am made of neither." And no one needed to see her grotesque form underneath her cloak anyways.
"Happy noises indeed," she remarked about the chimes. "Are there any other sounds you can make like that?"
