Zeltain had been wandering the manor trying to find the gardens for probably an hour or so, they had been away for so long they had forgotten their way around the already-hard-to-navigate estate. Having recently returned from a few month long supply run, so as fully stocked as their stores were- they realized making use of the cult's accessible gardens was much more rational than travelling across the globe to get some fresh sap from a sandbox tree. They arrived at the gardens, dressed in their work garb with pockets filled with seeds and flask filled with water, ready to start cultivating some dirt. The place was pretty disorganized looking, and they couldn't wait to have their flowers and herbs sprouting up and giving this place some real life! They made their way over to a particularly supple looking patch of weeds and dirt and started to plan how'd they'd use the space when they heard the shuffling sounds of another cult member from further into the gardens. * ((( Candledile )))

A small reptile, scarred up and in a hoodie, had taken a little dirt seat by the irrigation waterways. He was staring into the water, looking at his reflection. His bright blue eyes blinked at the running water, and then glanced to the ceiling. It was raining outside. He knew it. After all, he had just come in from usual downpour of the northwest to stay dry. It was a bit too cold for him to be in the outside water. Anastacio had actually always been interested in the farming lifestyle, though not as much as he had been interested in crafting tools and weaponry. The way of nature was...interesting, albeit unpredictable. Unknown to many, the thought processes of the short, mute crocodile were vast and intensive. He wasn't stupid. He might have been innocent and pure, but not stupid. He knew more about basic survival than some other creatures. Through his deep thought, he was startled by the noises of another in the gardens. He stood up quickly, ready to burst off at any moment. He wasn't in the mood for strangers, really. He looked intently in the direction of saltcipher.

Zeltain left their soon to be exquisite garden to float down the line just until they could see a small familiar form next to the waterways. They lit up immediately upon realizing it was their old pal The Candledile! (using the term old pal quite loosely that is....) "HEY! HEY THERE SPEEDBUMP!"

Candledile quickly dashed to the side, once the demon shouted a nickname towards him. He hid behind a big blackberry bush, ignoring the little scrapes he'd get from the thorns. Maybe if Zeltain didn't see him, they'd go away. Just maybe. It was unlikely, but whatever. He watched and waited, peering through the brambles at saltcipher. He didn't know how Zeltain would react to him at this point.

Watching the Candledile scramble into the bushes was comical and Zeltain sped in his direction to peer through the brambles, chattering all the while. "LONG TIME NO SEE KID! I THought you might be dead honestly! It's a blessing to see a familiar face around here, man the number of times I got lost trying to navigate this place was UNBELIEVABLE! HOW have you been! Why are you hiding? Finding some fresh berries? I am more partial to raspberries myself."

The crocodile had neglected to bring their whiteboard with them at the time. This interaction just got 80% harder. Candledile was shaking a bit, looking at saltcipher. He tried to make gestures that led to him saying 'im good, hi, im a lil freaked out', but they were messy. And probably untranslatable. He sighed after some movements and sat down in the dirt, indeed picking a berry and handing it to Zeltain. He had no idea what it was, but he presumed it wouldn't be poisonous.

Zeltain nodded knowingly (though they definitely didnt fully understand how much they startled the little reptile) as the Candledile scrambled to communicate, crossing their legs and floating just outside the bush. "Ahh don't have your little writing thingy with you huh? No worries no worries!" They gave a wide grin as they gratefully took the berry and popped it into their mouth. "Mmthimbleberry! Thanks!"

The croc nodded, and glanced around the garden. There wasn't really a way for him to make good conversation, as he didnt know sign language either. Its not like he could use it, though. Missing a finger of the process limited signs possible.
He pointed at Zeltain, and made a writing motion. Maybe the demon had something to scribble with. It was worth a shot, after all.
Plus, now that he was a bit calmed down, it was actually nice to see Zeltain again, in a not life threatening situation.

Zeltain blinked at the Candledile and then floated back a bit and leaned back to dig through their pockets. "Yeah sure! I've always got a notebook with me!" They gladly pulled out a small binded notepad and pencil from their pocket and handed it over to the smaller cult member. "So what brings you here?" They asked, leaning their hands onto the ankles of their still crossed legs.

The Candledile breathed a sigh of relief when saltcipher gave him a voice, essentially. He greedily took the notebook and got himself situated on a nice clean page. Once the question was asked, he scribbled down some words, like always. <I came here to get out of the rain outside. I don't come to the mansion very often, so I though it would be nice to finally explore a little,> he wrote. Underneath his writing he made a dashed line, so it wouldn't be so hard to figure out where his messages start and stop.

Zeltain silently read the message and nodded. They loved the rain, but a downpour like that was going to drown their freshly planeted garden at their cottage. All the more reason to make use of the space here.
"Fair! It's raining cats and dogs out there! And yeah I just got back from a long trip actually, so this place is even harder to remember than before and well... I got lost even then."

<Dang, I understand though. That brings the question, however; what are you doing here?> he asked in his writing, even giving a puzzled look to saltcipher. He couldn't think of a reason for the demon to be hanging around the underground gardens. Unless they were still looking for their real destination, that is. He took a quick glance at the berry bush next to him. Ages had gone by since the last time he ate food or drank water, really. He would have salivated at the sweet looking fruits, if he could. Alas, all he could taste was charcoal. And it would be the only thing he would ever taste. Ah well. Not many knew that about him, and any foods he did get, he often delivered them to other homeless animals and monsters that he knew about. He snapped out of his quick moment of deep thought. He hoped that Zeltain hadn't said anything while he was distracted.

"Oh well you see-" Zeltain grinned, starting to reply almost instantly, expressively gesturing as they spoke.
"I just came back from a massive supply run, I had to pick up herbs and materials from alll overr the world! Along with picking up some exotic seeds and such for replanting back here. I've already planted my garden that I KNOW can survive in this biome, but I've still got loads of other necessary plants that won't survive in my own little set up! So, that is what's brought me here! There's a perfectly good garden sitting here that I have access to, so I'm certainly going to use it! For all my more tropical and delicate children."
They finished with a prideful passionate look in their eyes, gesturing to the patch of earth they had designated as their own.

The Candledile wheezed slightly, looking up at Zeltain. Oh boy. He had missed quite a bit. Instead of truly replying, he just smiled and nodded a bit. He hoped that saltcipher wouldn't notice his lack of attention. Was it obvious?

Luckily for the Candledile , Zeltain wasn't the most observant of demons. They uncrossed their legs and straightened up, excitement shining through their eyes as they stared down at the little reptile. "Hey are you busy? Maybe you could help me with planting?"
