(Mordant and Laevith)
Mordant walked through the portal and glanced nervously at his superior, Niax.
"You are to get rid of the entire house. Don't leave anything behind. Don't want anyone snooping after this incident." Came their disembodied voice. The warped air eventually stabilized and Mordant could no longer see Niax's flame. They were gone.
Mordant turned to the silent country house, it was moderately sized so it would take him a while to finish it, but very possible. He looked around and fumbled with his shroud. No one would come checking so soon right? He stared back at the house. He didn't get many chances to observe civilized homes. Maybe he could take back some souvenirs?
The door swung open at a touch and he ducked through the opening to examine the house. It had a delightful array of colors and many things he had never seen before. There was fine china displayed in a glass case and the wendigo looked at the curiously. What did humans use these things for? He held a delicate tea saucer and palmed it. He looked at the rest of the things in the cabinet and decided they weren't worth taking. He moved onto the kitchen and riffled through the many drawers and cabinets. From there he collected a metal fork and a bright dish towel. He opened his maw and carefully swallowed them whole, reminding himself to regurgitate it later to place in his collection. He moved on and smelled blood from down the hall. Ah. This was probably why he was called. He wandered over to where the blood trail began and followed it to the master bedroom.
He smelled the carnage, but also something else. A person? He would have to swallow them quickly before they ran away otherwise he would be yelled at...
he pulled away his shroud and threw his head back to allow the maw on his stomach to open. Poised for attack, he threw the door open.

Laevith had chosen a nice place for her hunt last night. A pretty place in the country, with whitewashed walls and other things typical of places like that.
She had stopped with the intention of getting a snack while she was passing by, watched for a while, came back after dark, and ate the plump lady with the smile that somehow turned down at the corners. 'Neurotoxin works wonders,' she had thought. 'Didn't even scream.'
Now she was back at the house again, cutting at the half-eaten corpse with a khukuri and putting pieces of it in a potato sack she had found.
There was a sound outside the doorway. Floorboards, just barely creaking, but loud enough for her ears to hear. Slowly, she pulled her sheer veil back over her face and stood up, raising the khukuri towards a... a wendingo?
"What, pray tell, are you doing here?" Laevith asked, taking in the strange figure with the gaping maw. "One such as you must have little business traipsing about in a place like this."

"EAAAT!"
He leapt to swallow the person before him, but was surprised to see that she dodged. He couldn't stop his momentum and bit into the drawers behind her, his maw hastily consuming it before he turned to her again. The single blue eye of his stomach focused on her form and Mordant stood there for a confused moment. She was not human.
"Noot human? Friiend? Cultisst?"
The rib-like teeth of his maw flexed in annoyance as he tried to maintain control over his bloodlust, but the scent of human made him hungry.
"Noo blue... no fire... E A A T."

Laevith flicked her tail in annoyance and tossed the bag to the side. The creature clearly wasn't edible, and it had just eaten the drawers. She didn't even have a chance to go through then yet! When the creature paused, she hissed loudly baring her fangs.
"I most certainly am a cultist," said savagely, and unhinged her jaw widely, wider than what would be considered 'normal' for a regular human, then pointed down her throat, where the faint flickers of a blue flame was visible.
"See?" She said as clearly as she could, pulling down on her jaw with one hand and pointing with the other.
"If you try to eat me, though, I won't hesitate to use this," she added, brandishing her blade.

Mordant hesitated and his maw shrunk slightly in size as he saw the flame, but once she held up her blade his maw snapped open again.
"Haaa... iss friend? Noot friend?" He asked warily. His teeth clacked together as the eye in his stomach glared. "I noot eaat friends."
He pointed at her blade.
"Give. Or noot friends."

Laevith flicked her tail in annoyance. Sighing, she placed the blade back in its sheath and held it towards the creature along with the sheath.
"If you eat that, I will be very upset with you," she said, baring her fangs slightly.
"Now will you tell me why you're on my hunting ground?" She asked, placing one of her hands on her hip. "Even if it's less hunting ground and more 'butcher shop' now", she added sarcastically.

Mordant was very tempted to eat the weapon, but since she said not to he restrained himself. He didn't want to get in trouble with the cult. He took the blade and lay it on the ground carefully. He closed his maw and hastily tugged on his shroud to cover his face. He toyed with his sash as he glanced over at the snake lady.
"Sorry... Iss not allowed to eaat friends... Not mean to make maad..." He mumbled. He shuffled towards the butchered corpse and lifted the gore with interest. "I iss cleeaner. I make mess goo awaay."
He looked up at her and gestured at the bloody room.
"Iss mess."

((gdi sorry i thought i replied sorry))
Laevith smiled just barely, a twitch of the corner of her mouth, as the creature scrambled to cover his face. She listened to him speak with interest, and said, "Friends, huh? Well, I did make a pretty big mess." She hefted the sack onto her shoulder and held out her right hand. "Well, since we're friends, my name is Laevith."

((It's totally cool! I've been busy so I'm just now getting back to this as well))
Mordant stared at her hand for a long moment before he remembered the greeting ritual the other cultists taught him. Her hand was dwarfed in his as he mechanically shook it up and down. He proceeded to awkwardly hold her hand as he continued talking.
"Iss Moordant. We friendss?" The single eye on his shroud arched upwards in a smile. "Iss good. Friendss iss good."
Mordant pointed at the gore on the floor.
"Yoou eaat? Iss finished? They get maad if noot cleean." Mordant said slightly nervous.

Laevith smiled sympathetically. Cleanup, huh. "Yes, I was eating here, but I'm all finished now," she said, glancing down at their hands, which were still clasped together awkwardly. "Sorry for making a mess, anyways. If you want, I'll help you clean up." She did feel a bit bad for causing trouble for someone else, and thought that it was the last she could do.

Mordant followed her gaze to their hands and slowly let it go, looking at her to see if it was the correct thing to do before shuffling around the room.
"Iss ok. Iss my job." He said proudly. He mad a serious face and put his hands on his hips. "Iss seerious job."
He gestured for her to move back before cracking open his maw. He gave it a few seconds to expand then proceeded to swallow all of the furniture in the room whole, his maw expanding to make the larger objects vanish into his void of a stomach. Soon everything was gone and the room was left empty. He shut his maw and glanced back her.
"I eaat all the mess. Maake house dissappear." He said matter-of-factly with a nod. He realized he had opened his maw before her twice and he frantically covered his stomach. "Ahh! Umm... doon't be afraid... woon't eaat you."

((Please forgive me, I am unworthy... Plus I've been kinda busy.))
Laevith's eyes widened as the maw on Mordant's stomach opened once again and swallowed everything in the room except them. She was glad that the strange creature had accepted her as a friend. She'd hate to be swallowed like that.
"It's alright, I'm not frightened," she assured him, smiling. Raising one of her eyebrows, she gestured towards the door.
"You said you were making the house disappear? That sounds like quite an arduous task." She twirled a corner of her veil around her finger absentmindedly.

((Don't worry! Times are busy, I'm pulling my own vanishing act too))
Mordant's eye arched up in a smug smile.
"Take time, but iss easy. I only eaat." He gave a nod and turned to the wall of the house. This time, he carefully hid his maw from her as he gnawed through the plaster, wood, and brick to make a perfect hole, the then proceeded to enlarge it into an exit. He folded his maw closed and turned to Laevith. "See? I maake door! I maake house fall and eaat mess."
He tilted his head and hunched over to be level with her. He gingerly picked up the blade she surrendered and held it out to her.
"Iss you do job too? He pointed to the leftover blood spatter. "Iss yoou job?"

Laevith blinked a few times and took the blade from Mordant again, nodding slightly.
"No, this isn't my job. I don't have any assignments at the moment, as a matter of fact," she said as she unsheathed the blade absentmindedly, slithering towards the opening and poking her head through it, glancing about.
"Where do you get your assignments from, anyhow?" She swished her blade a few times and sheathed it again.

"Iss from sooper-visor. They give Moordant name." He explained. He tapped a finger to his shroud as he thought hard. "Name iss Niiax..." He made a gesture for a round opening. "Maake tel-e-por-tation." He tilted his head. "You knoow my sooper-visor? Is much suuperior to me." He said respectfully. He stared back at her and looked at the mess he had to clean up. "Yoou have sooper-visor?" He hunched and dragged a claw through the blood stain. "Iss yoou allowed to go to city? I iss noot allowed..." He thought of his brief encounter with the town with Evelyn, but he had yet to see how other humans interacted and lived in the large area that lit up at night. He was always curious, but never got permission to be around humans. His superiors always feared he would draw unnecessary attention and go on a rampage of feeding. They aren't necessarily wrong... Mordant had not been around a large volume of humans in a long time, and the few humans he encountered were from the cult and were always a little off from his usual prey.
