So Bonebon used to be a human. A human named Chamuel, and is occasionally called Cham by her friends. She was a normal shy high schooler and was often picked on by people because of her skin color or curly hair. She did have friends however ((I'm not gonna say a name cuz I can't think of one right now)), and they helped her go through tough times. Cham also had a weird hobby and knowledge about the supernatural, and unfortunately was also picked on because of this. Later on magic slowly began to reveal itself in the form of horrible creatures in her town, so she was often asked for help in dealing with them. This led to less people bullying her but it also led to dependency. Her schoolmates and other people saw her as a savior or guardian and always depended on her to fix a supernatural anomaly of some sort, and whenever she refused they would get mad and guilt-trip her saying how she didn't care about the lives of other people. Eventually the anger towards the people built up and burst, resulting in violent outbursts resulting in murder. She would always feel guilty about it however, especially since even her friends were scared of her. She fled to the forest in hopes to find solace and maybe get killed from one of the creatures there. She instead found the demon in charge of all the anomalies and made a deal with it. She made a deal that she would obtain power to seek revenge on the people that caused her anger and pain. The demon used this deal as a way to be rid himself of the power of controlling the portal these anomalies came from, and passed it down to her. Once the deal was made she now became the Bonebon you know.

anyway im gonna explain other stuff about bone too like her portal
What's Bone's portal?
so the surface of the portal is magic that when touched it can destabilize form
destabilize in a sense that the form melts, becomes crumbly, or transparent. the destabilized form has to merge with another destabilized form to re-stabilize and become physically whole. If the form does not merge, it will fully melt and loose physical form, will crumble, or will fade away without a trace. That's why Bone's creatures look like hybrids (Dorse is a deer and horse with fire, Dilim is a rabbit with a dog and a squid or smth)
AS for the dimension inside the portal, it's more of a pocket of empty space which became inhabited by the hybrids, causing it to be a "world"
Things only loose form when they enter the pocket of space through the portal. If they exit the pocket of space through it, nothing happens.
Why does it consume Bone's head?
In the past the portal was just small, that was when it's the size of a coin on bone's head. Overtime it grew and its corrupting magic caused her severe headaches so she cut it off, along with her brain. She was supposed to die but she woke up the next day even though her brain was gone. This caused her to be more forgetful and spontaneous. She remembers chunks and bits of the past, and the emotions when she sees the faces of her friends are still there. She doesnt like looking at pics of her past because it causes her pain (both emotional and mental when she tries to remember who they were) Sometimes she gets dreams about the past and she writes them down. The next day these are forgotten.

You have a pretty interesting explanation of Bone's portal along with that backstory.
wonder how she survived cutting her brain though, sounds like pretty rough to deal with
