@potatotank
The little rural house that sat on a clean white bed of snow was still, as if time had stopped in a photo-esque scenery. The bitter October wind struck the small town with harsh chilling weather and the air smelled of smoke and spices.
A short girl sat by the door of the home, a crackling fire burned and gave warmth to the home. She had an expression of boredom, and slowly it was turning into solemn. She had sent invitations to her friends from a particular group, but non had arrived yet.
It was late, at least 8:30. The invitations said that the party she had devised started at 7. She kept telling herself that they were all fashionably late, hoping to get a good kick out of her sadness since most of them were assholes, but when 9 hit, she started feeling emotional.
Her mentor, Winston saw this invitation. It was taped to his door when he got home from rehearsal. He thought it was silly, such a young girl trying to invite him over to parties so casually. A first fallen snow party? Who has parties for that kind of thing? He thought, just out of curiosity, that he would check it out. He didn't have anything special to do so it would be entertaining to say the least.

She was lying on the floor near the fire when she heard someone yell from outside.. She gaped when she recognized the nasally voice and the extremely obvious nickname. She immediately got up and ran, which was a bad idea because as soon as her socks hit the tiled floor she fell on her back. She groaned loudly and flicked the lock with her magic. "I-it's open.." She said weakly.
She had a few seconds to lie there and cry a little more before Winston would bust in and probably yell or something. he probably came fore something else, not the party..
She let a few tears escape her eyes and she started breathing in hitched, short breaths. She faced away from the door and looked at the wall, waiting for whatever would happen, to happen. Her face was red and puffy and she felt sick, but she also couldn't stop crying for some reason.

She quavered and her crying slowed from an almost silent sob to a stream of tears. She raised her arms and hugged him back. She didn't know why she cried so much, but know Winston knew that she was weak. She put her forehead on his shoulder and tried to speak, but it came out in noises and her voice was impossible to make out.
She felt him pat her back a few times and he too, was quiet. They stood there on the hard tile floor for a few minutes before Galia looked up at Winston. "I-i'm so s-sorry you have t-to see me like this.." She barely got out. He rubbed circles in her back and tried to comfort her to the best of his abilities. "I-I was well.." She got quiet. "I was trying to p-put a party together b-but you're the only one who came.." She looked pitiful, her face was red and it looked like she had cried for a lot longer than a few minutes.
Winston moved her over to the carpeted living room where she sat, staring at the fire. "I guess all my f-friends are assholes.." She muttered before looking up to Winston, who was still standing by the door, removing his snow ridden boots and putting them on the shoe rack. "Thank you for coming.. You're the only one who seems to care about me.." She pulled her legs up and she let a few more tears escape. "The only one.."

She gave a small, light laugh. "Y-your right.." She thought about what Winston just said, since when did he ever try to cheer her up? She looked over at him and wiped her tears. Her face was still red but she finally had it dry. "They didn't bother, so why should I?" She repeated after her mentor. She sat back in the couch and stared at the blank Christmas tree.
"Say, Winston.. Do you celebrate Christmas?" She asked it for no reason she could think of, why would she care? She waited for a response and stared at him intently. He was focused, somewhat distant looking. His blue eyes glued to something and the rings darting around the pupils. Maybe he was looking at something that was just a tad crooked, or thinking.. She decided on telling herself he was brooding about something and she sighed.
"Or uh, you know, Hanukkah or something..." She scoffed and looked away. She had trouble talking to him since after their strife, granted she was having trouble before that too. She didn't know why though, maybe it was the intimidation of him yelling at his band, or the fact that he was a foot and two inches taller than her. That didn't really help when they had lessons and his glare shot her down into a crumpling mess.

"W-what? Oh yes, this is a party.." She scratched her head and laughed awkwardly. "Well, I was going to have a movie night but.. It's just us, so I guess we could do whatever.." She coughed and looked down at her hands. She looked embarrassed and she tried not to burst back into tears, she was failing her mentor yet again. She bit her lip and tried to look dignified as the ghost inquired her. "I have a lot of movies, I also have other things to do if that's not really your thing.." She Glanced over to the arch leading to the foyer, probably one of the only rooms he hadn't been in.
She was a pitiful mess, no matter how badly she wanted to look like she was fine with the situation. She was embarrassed, her anxiety flaring every time she opened her mouth. Why did she get nervous talking to him? They'd been mentor apprentice for almost a month and she was still embarrassed. She always tried to evaluate, looking for the answers to her problem, but none really gave her clues- well, if they did, she would've completely looked over them. This time when she glanced up at Winston, the whole room had a different vibe.
He seemed a tad embarrassed too, just a little. That didn't seem like a 'Winston' thing to do, but the way his eyes glared and rings dilated. His hair was cover some of his face, it was a mop of white without his shako. The room seemed warmer and all the bright colours of the fire seemed to pop. She knew the room wasn't getting warmer though. She was probably blushing. She caught only a glance of him before she looked away with pink dusting her cheeks.
Winston, was her mentor. He was a completely different personality. But she knew that he was, unfortunately, extremely cute.

"W-what?" She jumped back up from her trance and looked over. "Drum line? Uh sure, I've got a few copies of that hidden in my shelves." She got up and quavered, leading him through the kitchen into the foyer. Almost falling down a few stairs, she padded and nervously gestured to the magnificent cienema.
The room was dimly light with candles and the walls were draped with black curtains. The projector was in the back, along with a counter that was stocked with movie theatre type foods. She pointed to the comfortable looking couches that were covered in pillows and blankets galore.
She walked into a room that Winston could barely glance into. He could see a few shelves filled with movies, most he couldn't recognise.
"Okay, I have like, 3 copies of Drumline.. I liked that movie in middle school.." She walked back out with the box and threw it to him. "This one, right?"

"What? Yeah, I always put subtitles on.. I can't watch movies without them.." She scratched the back of her head and laughed nervously. "You seem like you really like this movie.. Did you want a copy?" She tossed another copy and turned back into the room. "Yeah, I've got number 2.." She then said. "Here you want that one too?" She pulled it out and waved it.
She rested her head on the arch, looking at the giddy drum major. He was looking at the case and treating it like an ancient relic. "Are you okay, Winston?" She asked. He wasn't acting right along with his usual ego, he seemed completely different. For one, the Apocalyptica hoodie that was one size to big for him, and he just seemed so.. Relaxed.. She blinked a few times and gave a small light laugh.
"Here, I'll put it in." She grabbed the disc from Winston's hands and walked into the projector room. She slid the disc in and shoved her hands into her hoodie pocket of her oversized sweater. She then walked back out and grabbed the remote, pulling up the audio and subtitle menu. "Go wild with it." She said nonchalantly, pulling one of the many blankets into the couch as she rested on the pile of pillows.

"Y-yeah.." She scoffed, watching him smile with his dorky teeth. "Movie.." She set the sub to English and lie back in her fortress of solitude. She didn't really watch the movies anymore so when he had asked about them she was surprised to find that she had 4 copies in total. Sure, she did like to collect titles for bragging rights on movie total, but 4 copies? That was a tad of an overhaul.
She tried to pay attention to the movie but instead she kept sneaking glaces to her mentor. He was all giddy watching it, with his own barrier of pillows and blankets. He was smiling a lot more than he would usually do so in front of anyone really, he was pretty relaxed and the movie was keeping him in a trance.
She tried to act like she was paying attention whenever he commented on a part, or pointed to a character or squealed over something. He was a big nerd..
"Hey so.." She scoffed. "You want something to eat? I've got some food upstairs I could grab.." She paused. "Or some cool smoothies if you're not hungry.."

She followed him up the stairs with a sigh and made him sit at the bar. "So, why did you come?" She asked quietly, opening up the fridge in search of the drinks she had made earlier. "I mean, you're my mentor, not my friend right?" She was trying to say what she knew he was thinking. "I'm sure with all the hard work you do.. You wouldn't have enough time to bother with this whole party right?" She clapped her hands together when she found the smoothies.
She set two on the bar and crossed her arms, staring at the white haired ghost. He was cuter than she last remembered during their lesson. She was staring.. "R-right well here!" She slid a pink smoothie over to him. "It might not taste like what you'd expect.. I've been trying to work on some special recipes.." She looked down at her own and sighed. Maybe this wasn't the best idea.. They were extremely experimental.

When she heard him reply to her so dully at the invitation she frowned, why wouldn't she want to hang out with him? Sure, he wasn't all much for team work and over all he was a big asshole, but he was also talented, and interesting (and also quite charming).
She looked down at the smoothie he was holding, yeah that was her peachy one. He had already downed about a quarter of the orange liquid and he seemed quite satisfied with it. She could've sworn he complimented her, but she pushed that to the side.
"Magic? Oh- Yeah.. Just a little bit. Something to give it a more nostalgic taste for me." She tapped her chin. "That one doesn't have any peaches in it though.. Just pineapple, oranges.. That sort of thing." She took a sip of hers and gave him a small smile.
She was glad he didn't spit up her experiment in disgust or anything like that, she didn't really think he'd actually like sweet things all that much, he seemed like a salty/savory type himself.
"About you coming over, well.." She looked away, avoiding eye contact. "I dunno, you're just cool to be around. We've never really hung out past lessons and I've always just wanted to talk to you.. you know.. without you yelling at me to change to 3rd position?" She laughed awkwardly. "I mean.. We meet every Friday and yet, I hardly know anything about you as a person.." She looked up at him with a weird expression, one that was a mix of fear, hope, and a very slightly noticeable flush. "You catch my drift?"

Galia huffed and dropped the sword, her actions were a little dramatic- Then again Winston was the most dramatic person she knew. She turned on her heel and walked back towards the arch that lead to the stairwell. The blue tinted sword de-materialized into light, evaporating into the air infront of the ghost.
"I guess I could always just," She paused and turned to meet the Drum Major's eyes. "burn your copies of Drumline.." She flicked a bit of flame from her fingertip. She had a devilish smile as her small steps brought her closer to the stair way. She gave a light chuckle- jokingly even. She couldn't believe she was just.. joking around with him.
In her mind however, she wasn't being smooth, she was instead thinking over all of her actions. She did this alot actually. She played back everything he had just said in her head as she let her smoothness go on auto-pilot. Sure, their conversation right now were extremely casual. She couldn't remember if they had ever done lessons while in hoodies and jeans. It was different, a nice different. Sadly, he was still an asshole, but she knew that wouldn't change over her dead body.
"Anyways I think that enough smoothies for tonight, We should probably finish up the first movie- Assuming you wanted to watch the second one?" She quickly said after snapping from her thoughts. She suddenly reverted from her smooth attitude back to her nervous shaky one. "I mean- did you want to watch the second one?"
