Tea entered the building, checking the time as soon as he did so. He'd only just made it before last order with four or five minutes to spare. He let out a sigh of relief. Now he simply waited to be seated. He intended to be the easiest customer of the night, as he was only getting himself a cup of tea or two. He had plenty of his own stash at home, but he still felt it necessary to help a cultist run business in what little way he could.
As he waited, he went over his short lost of visits today. He could already tell from a quick glance the restaurant didn't suffer. Nearly as many window breaks as say the Third Jackal. Then again, the bar here seemed a lot quieter than the bar there. And the owner wasn't a six hundred plus year old crazed Englishman. He hoped maintaining this building would be much easier than his friend's bar.

Scorpius was busy in his office managing restaurant funds when his alarm to inform him that it was 5 minutes before the last order went off. He stood abruptly and left his office, grabbing the black and gold apron from the hook hanging by the heavy mahogany door on the way out. As he tied the stiff fabric around his waist and prepared to enter the kitchen, he noticed someone standing at the entrance waiting for a seat. The man was tall, very tall, and had a gentle face, although Scorpius could see something lurking behind his seemingly kind eyes.
Scorpius walked over with a soft smile on his lips and ushered the man to a booth that could fit 4 people, knowing full well that it was a slow day, and not many people had come to his restaurant.
"Welcome to The Pincer. My name is Scorpius Antares, I own the place, and I am responsible for the old 3-star rating jumping to 4-stars. May I take your order?"

Tea sat down with a sigh. He only realized how much his feet were hurting when he was sitting down. With a sigh, he said, "I'll just have some hot tea." He then went on to give his prerecorded spiel. "I'm here for maintenance from the Candle Cult to check up on your business location. I wanted to make sure everything was running properly and there haven't been any concerns lately." Then he added, "We can wait till you're done or I can come back another time. It's up to you. This will be for your business's benefit and health." Tea tilted his head. "I'm not sure we've met before, my apologies." Tea held out his hand. "Call me Tea."

Scorpius smiled and took Tea's hand, shaking it with a firm grip. He nodded at Tea, before electing to sit down in the seat opposite. "Tea wants tea huh? Puff, get the finest tea we have. Thank you." Scorpius motioned to the kitchen while looking at a lady with vibrant red hair and clothes as white and pristine as newly fallen snow just before she disappeared into the kitchen. It had been awhile since Scorpius had interacted with any cult members other than his son since he broke up with his husband, and he mostly spent his time in the restaurant, cooking food and interacting with his favourite customers. "Well the business is coming along fine so far, the food is fresh, there have been little problems in general, and there is a steady flow of both new and old customers. I'd say business is doing great, all in all." Puff returned swiftly, with 2 cups of an aromatic and delicious smelling tea, the teapot for it, black porcelain with a stylized scorpion tail as the handle, some sugar in a small bowl and a small jug of milk before leaving again. Scorpius picked up the milk, hovering it above Tea's tea. "Sugar and milk for you, Tea?"

Tea grinned at the presentation, listening intently to the other as he spoke. "I usually don't, but I'll gladly take some now." He was usually in too much of a hurry to drink the tea or drinking tea that simply didn't need any enhancing. However, black tea tended to really come to life with sugar and milk. Therefore he accepted. "You're very hospitable. I can see why the place would be lively." The cultist was more than polite and considerate. Reading his sincerity, Tea could also pick up on some slight bits of stress. He was at least glad the cultist had not cringed at his name. Some still did upon seeing him. "Do you need any repairs done, or services of any sort really?" He was somewhat glad the other had not blown him off till later. He could get the formalities out of the way now.

"Oh no no we're doing quite fine at the moment, but thank you for asking." Scorpius spoke clearly and with great diction, honed from his years training to be a king. He poured the milk in and let Tea put in their desired amount of sugar. As he prepared his own cup of tea, he whispered lowly,
"Tea... I know who you are. Everyone does. What you did, betraying us to the Puppeteers is not easily forgiven, you hurt a lot of people. But I'm sure you already have enough on your plate as is. I was one of the original members of the C.U.T, and even after that was disbanded I did a lot of personal research on the higher ups in this little cult. I know you're an empath, and I know that you have dark secrets lurking behind those kind eyes. I always believe in second chances, and I trust you one-hundred percent so I'm going to tell you something you've probably already picked up on."
The restaurant was completely empty now, the remaining customers having left the establishment and the employees in the kitchen washing up.
"I was married to my husband Rewind for a year, he recently broke up with me, leaving me to look after my adopted son Dylan alone. It's not raising Dylan that I'm worried about, but it has been very stressful for me recently."
He dug his pincer into the table, leaving a visible mark as he said this,
"I don't know what to do. I loved Rewind so much and he up and left me. I have nightmares about the most horrific things. I miss my home, my kingdom. I want to visit them but I can't leave Dylan alone and neither can I bring him along. I'm in a bad position right now, to the point where my three scorpions are in their human form almost round the clock now, trying their best to help me. I know I seem suave and cool and collected but really on the inside I'm broken, and I don't know if I can ever fix it. You're an empath, so you probably already picked all this up earlier and me telling you is probably not going to change much, but I think it is necessary."
Removing his pincer from the table, he lets it burst into flame, watching the teal fire flicker and die out slowly.
"I need your help."

To say Tea was taken aback was an understatement. He listened the whole time, watching Scorpius's pincer out of the corner of his eye. Tensing, he almost summoned his hammer just as a precaution. But the more he took in the other's freely given knowledge and trouble . . . .
The more he realized how hurt the other was.
He still jumped, talons scraping the table lightly as he sat back and away from the flame. Sucking in a sharp breath, he apologized and thought over what he had been told. He shuddered at the very thought of Scorpius picking up on anything from his past. He wanted nothing more than to praise him and the C.U.T. Without it, he had no idea what would have become of the cult. But thinking of that time made him so sick and guilty, he couldn't even ask anything in regards to it. He couldn't even talk about it.
But he managed to ask, "How can I help?" No matter how strange the openness might seem to various outsiders, this level of disclosure on first meetings was not uncommon for him. But he was still startled by the idea that Scorpius might know more about him than he would like.

Scorpius wasn't an empath, but he could clearly see the trauma in Tea's eyes at him mentioning the Puppeteers. It was obvious that Tea was filled with regret and guilt over it, and Scorpius felt bad over making Tea uncomfortable. "I'm sorry, I shouldn't have mentioned the Puppeteers, but I wanted you to know that I always forgave you for what you did. What happened to you was tragic, getting suckered into them like that." He picked up his tea, sipping it slowly and cautiously, "I don't know what you can do to help, if I'm being completely honest. It's not like I need any financial help, I'm a king, I have all the money I need," another sip from the tea, "But if you could just help me with this... I would like you to help me keep my wedding ring safe." Scorpius pulled a small unassuming box from his pocket, sliding it across the table to Tea.
It had been a long time since Scorpius had shown that box to anyone, let alone that ring.
"Please, take the ring and whatever I do or say if I come to you... don't let me have it. I don't want to lie in bed crying anymore. I have a son to look after, not to mention an entire kingdom. If you need to contact me, the restaurant's phone number as well as my own are already written down on a slip of paper in the box."

Tea stared at the box, feeling a tremor of sadness. Whether it was his own or Scorpius's. . . he wasn't certain. Perhaps both. Perhaps neither. Perhaps it was the box itself that was so covered in the emotion it had become sentient or at the very least tangible.
Tea had encountered several objects drenched in the emotion of their previous owners. His hammer was one of those objects.
Taking the box, he brought it towards himself. Holding it for a moment, his hand actually trembled with the need to recoil from the object. Summoning his hammer, the heavy weapon appeared and knocked against his seat with a thud. Pulling a bandage from his pocket (he'd learned a while ago to always keep bandages on hand), he tied the box to the weapon that bore his flame. Once it was secure, he banished his hammer once again.
With the wedding ring.
"I'm truly sorry for your loss," Tea said. Though he knew the cultist's partner was still living, it was still worth mourning. At least he thought so. "Do not apologize," he went back to the subject of the Puppeteers. "I wouldn't be here without them. But the cult also wouldn't have been hurt if I hadn't been here." He wasn't sure if that made any sense. He hoped Scorpius understood his meaning. He wanted to be here. He just wished it was under different circumstances he'd gotten here.

Scorpius gripped his teacup more firmly, trembling slightly as he watched as the box with the ring within dissipated with the large hammer, giving a sad but thankful look to Tea for what he did. "Thank you, Tea. out of all the things they did, what the Puppeteers did to you was the most unforgivable one. They hurt you, and by extension all of us in the process."
Puff walked out of the kitchen, holding a fine dark oak box engraved with tea leaves surrounding a hammer in the middle.
"I got my employees to prepare a gift for you... if you want it," he takes the box from Puff and places it on the table in front of Tea, "Inside is a rose gold lapel pin in the shape of a scorpion and a small bottle of a special type of cream that should make your scars less... painful. They'll still be there but the flesh will be less tender. This is the least I can do for all the help you've given me so far... thank you."
In Scorpius' eyes, the Puppeteers were unforgivable, but Tea was already forgiven.

Tea wound up staring at the box, a bit stupefied and fumbling for a response. He . . . he really did not know what to say. Stammering, he murmured honestly, "I haven't done anything to d-deserve a gift." But . . . it would be rude to deny it. He didn't want to offend Scorpius, who he sometimes forgot was of a much higher standing than he himself had ever been or would ever be. "Th-thank you," he murmured as he reached out to run his fingers over the box. "I . . . I'm a bit lost. For words. My apologies." The box on its own was beautiful. Its contents were just as precious if not more so.
He owned very little. He had come to the Candle Cult with nothing and left the Puppeteers with even less. That people were so gracious to someone who had hurt them, someone who had betrayed them . . . he closed his eyes and clung to the box. He had yet to understand it. He didn't think he would. He murmured another thank you as he tried to smile and sip his tea. His hands were shaking a little now.

Scorpius smiled, finishing up his tea and pouring a little bit more. He was glad that Tea was safe, but couldn't see why he was shaking. Speaking softly, Scorpius asked, "Are you okay Tea? You really don't have to think too much about the gift. The cream is from a plant that you can only get in my kingdom, but it's abundant there, and the lapel pin is so that my people will recognize you and will respect you. If you ever need a place to vacation or relax or just want to visit me in my kingdom, just wear the pin and my citizens will take care of the rest."
Scorpius shook his head, watching his three employees go about their jobs, "If you see people who only communicate with each other through clicking, or a wave of scorpions attack you, those are my citizens. And Tea? I really cannot thank you enough for your help."

"I haven't done much," Tea declared as he tried to let his nerves settle. "I'm alright. Thank you again." He looked up. "This is . . . really a very lovely gift. Not something I was expecting, or thought I deserved." He really didn't deserve it. "But I appreciate it. And will treasure it." He relaxed, letting himself smile and jest. "If Tapi ever allows me to, I would love to travel. But first . . . I have to get back on my feet." He had never been on his feet, truthfully. He needed to learn how to function before he did anything drastic. Like visit a kingdom. "The salve will definitely help. That means a lot to me." He hadn't yet tried to treat the itching and sensitivity of the scars. And they were all very sensitive. Part of him thought that was another reason Tapi and some other tenebra had insisted he be infused with their magic.
He was permanently marked as a traitor and a survivor.

"I understand. Our leader can be a bit... controlling sometimes. At least that's what I gather from the few times I've met her. Would you like some food? Or more tea?" Scorpius gave Tea a small smile, holding up the teapot for him. "I do hope to meet up someday as well, you're always welcome here, if you want a drink or a chat. I'll usually be in the back office doing my usual management, but I'll always be up for a nice talk with you. Just say the word whenever you're nearby, okay?" He swished his tail around happily, feeling the huge weight of his past relationship with Rewjnd finally lift from him.

Tea smiled. "I am always up for a drink and a chat," he declared. Then he frowned slightly. "As for food, I'm afraid I can't have any. Bit of a part of my current . . . condition." As in he couldn't swallow anything thicker than tea. Gesturing to his cup, he said, "I'll always accept the tea, though." Switching the subject away from himself, he asked, "This is a random question but . . . can you actually poison people with your tail?" Things like that fascinated him, and he hadn't brushed up on his knowledge of Scorpius since trying to overcome his habit of . . . taking inventory, per se.
