Tea was up for the night, unable to sleep as many of his loved ones had left him worried. He hadn't heard from Eve, Ash, or Yin for a time. Amaya and Aren were well as far as he knew. Leland and his troupe he had not been in touch with for a while (he had needed space and it was difficult to be so near those he had harmed no matter how much time had passed since). Gabriel and Serena he thought were well, and Aiden . . . was Aiden. He continued going down his very long list, keeping tally of those he needed to soon see again. Each and every one of them concerned him in some way, each and every one of them having their own turmoils which he was not always equipped to help with.
His mind was a fog as it raced in search of ways he actually could help. He was supposed to be sipping tea and reading this book his vampire companion had given him, but no. His tea was on a table at his side getting cooler and the book was lying open in his lap. Oh how his mind wandered when it was supposed to stay right here.
He broke from his reverie as he heard a gentle humming and turned to gaze upon the source. He caught sight of a member he had not recognized. Another who just have joined during the period in which he had been asleep perhaps? Either way, he found himself standing in her presence. It felt wrong to stay seated while she moved about, elegantly placing buds of flowers he had never seen before as she walked. "Hello," he said tentatively, unsure if that was a proper enough greeting for one he had not previously. He only questioned himself now because she had an air about her that just rang with authority. It was fascinating, as she looked so gentle.

Tea's attention flitted from the woman to her followers. He watched them intently as they traveled from her side to hovering before him to floating about her once more. He'd always like bees. Had always found them to be interesting and in some way adorable. Especially honey bees. With a grin, he felt himself flush a light purple at the brief comparison to a flower.
He cleared his throat before answering, "I wasn't reading very well. Perhaps it's good you interrupted me." He'd been falling into the trap of thinking too much, something that tended to happen when he was unable to sleep well. "I'm having green tea with pomegranate actually. Would you care for a cup?" He looked at the work she had been doing before he had interrupted her. "I am sorry to startle you. But your flowers are lovely."
It wasn't until he had stopped talking he realized he was mimicking her polite tone. He hoped she didn't take offense. She didn't seem the kind to be offended.

Tea gave her a smile, then picked up his cup and book. "I have some more in the kitchen. I'm happy to spare." Tea rubbed at his eyes tiredly, trying not to seem like he had been sitting there worrying. Though that was indeed what he had been doing, it was still rather embarrassing. "If you want to continue arranging, I'll be right back. I don't want to interrupt you." The manor could use more decoration. With that, he couldn't agree more. It still scared even him, and he had searched and studied and lived in it for almost three years now. "It takes care such as yours to make flowers truly beautiful." Otherwise they would be left to struggle.

Tea paused before leaving the room entirely. With a nervous grin, he responded with, "Call me Tea." He shrugged slightly. "Not nearly as pretty as Apis. But it fits." Then he left her to her arranging.
Going to the kitchen, he returned to his kettle and cabinet. First he set the kettle, still half full of water, to boil again. Pulling a box from a shelf, he took out a bag and prepared the cup. In no time the kettle was whistling and he was pouring hot water over the bag.
He realized only too late he had not asked her if she preferred milk, sugar, or any other addition. Picking up the cup, he elected to return to the common room and ask her then.

She looked regal, sitting in the common room. It had almost turned into a throne room from her presence alone. "I'm sorry, do you take milk or honey with your tea? I forgot to ask." Then he thought about it, and added, "Since it's green tea, it technically really doesn't need milk." It was her preference really. And he was about to start rambling. Clamping his mouth shut, he set the tea down for her and wondered if he should continue standing or go ahead and sit. His mind started to wander again. He rubbed his eyes and shook his head. "My apologies. I'm a bit . . . out of it." He wondered how much it showed, his weariness.

Tea hesitated, then took the seat. He settled slowly, then admitted as he shifted in the seat, "Just haven't been sleeping well." He worried a lot. And he almost always had nightmares when he slept. He didn't want her to know that, however. She didn't need to hear about all of his terrible nighttime reveries. "I've been trying to stay up and read. Clear my head. Instead I've been worrying more."

He paused, then gave her a grin as he felt her analyzing him. Looking down, he hummed. "Worry . . . certainly doesn't help. But . . .," he didn't really want to mention the nightmares. Not to her, he had just met her. She didn't need to hear of his personal problems. Still, he offered, "I don't really sleep well. You're right there." He didn't know of any way to get a good night's sleep, really.

Tea was taken aback by her observance, even moreso by her offer to help. "You . . . you do?" He pondered. He was very quick to accept that she had just hit the nail on the head. His nightmares kept him up. But . . . he'd tried so many things before. Did she really have something different. "What . . . do you have? And what would I owe you?" He didn't want to be given anything, especially if it was something someone had invested time in.

"That's very reasonable and kind of you," Tea remarked. He stood as she did, then gave her a pleasant smile. Or, rather, as pleasant a smile as he could muster at this juncture in time. "You really shouldn't worry yourself over someone like me losing sleep." He didn't specify on what he meant by the statement 'someone like him.' After all this time, he was still getting used to the new company he kept. Being in the company of beasts who were more humane than the humans who had claimed dominion over beasts . . . he still was stunned over it. The statement also implied his status as a traitor. It was still a rather known fact that he was not in good standing amongst cult heads. At least he shouldn't be. "I would very much like to at least see your quarters." Her base of operation at the very least had to interesting to behold whether he walked away with the honey or not.

Tea followed, eyes on her bees and puzzling over the regal cultist he was trailing after. "What . . . kind of bees are these?" He didn't think bees could be blue. He didn't think flames couldn't burn either. This cult was full of surprises. He wanted to ask her how she had come to be here, but that was often . . . a touchy subject. He found it more common for people to have been forced to join than joining of their own volition. Not that he had truly joined of his own volition. He had joined on orders. But he remained of his own volition if that counted.

Tea snorted. "I bet plenty of religious people would argue with you over the notion of bees having souls." He thought about it, then shook his head. "Apologies if that's an odd topic to bring up. I always found it interesting." So far as he figured, anything that could think had a soul. It was just a question of what could think. Continuing to follow her, he declared, "I would love to read your research." He'd been researching bugs himself lately. Just . . . bugs of a different nature.

"Well . . . some . . . people would say you and I shouldn't have had souls to sell. Since we're," beasts, "not human." He was pretty pleased with the idea of reading up on what she had. But he quickly added to his previous statements, "They were proven wrong, though. Just look at us." So it didn't seem so strange that bees could have souls. After all, he had had one for Tapi to steal. "I'm glad they stayed with you. They seem to love you," he said as she went to retrieve the mentioned journals.
