kodadoo Today was an oddly cold day. Not that it really mattered to Aren, he could perhaps sing a small line about how cold didn't afflict him all that much. But for now he made his way through the treeline, an odd melody humming from his small frame. The snow that had settled on the branches bounced off as his feet hit them, constantly moving up and down through the trees. He truly enjoyed the rush it gave him. And perhaps he might just be running because he yet again "borrowed" something and distancing himself before studying his haul seemed to be a good idea. He ceased jumping between trees however as he spotted a smaller figure walking below, slightly sliding on the branch he settled down on, the snow on it lazily dropping to the ground below. He could hear Jung had started bothering him again from the back of his mind, encouraging him to approach with caution but starting interactions tended to not exactly be his thing.

Between quaking fingers was held the broken reeds of a cedar wood pan flute, chipped from age but working nonetheless for any needed activity in.. Wherever he was. That, the creature had no answer to. Lost, cold, hungry, he had merely been treading through crunching snow with a frosted cape and dimming lights in his earrings and birch wood staff. One last look north casted him a drab nostalgia that plucked the heartstrings he swore resides within his chest, as it did any other creature.. Though he was unsure if he was living or not. For all he knew, he was here to help others, no matter where.
A soft sounding trill danced between the trees as powdered clouds of snow fluttered to the earth in flurries, falling from disturbed branches as Vesuvio blew a darling tune into the broken little pan flute. He clutched it close, dear, careful as he dragged his thick tail throughout the heavy feet of white powder in search of food. Someone, something, some cave or den to tuck up in for the day.

Aren growled as Jung smacked him in the back of his head with the tail of his hood. It seemed the dumb bird was a lot more impatient with him than usual today and he was not in the mood to discuss that with Jung. He let out a heavy sigh as he jumped down from his branch, the bag holding all his daily findings clinking upon the impact with the snow below. "Hello, you seem a tad lost."

Vesuvio all but jumped from his skin out of the fear that coarsed through him from toe to tip, shocking from his feet to his head in a shiver. This shiver made the tufts of his fur stand on end, his ears perk, and his shaking fingers drop his pan flute into the snow. It seemed as though the stranger, perhaps enemy behind him, was an English speaker. He could settle with this to the best of his ability... With his defenses heightened and his fingers reaching for the staff strapped to his back, Vesuvio turned in the blanket of snow at his feet and stared forward with shocked periwinkle orbs. "I.. I.. You are.. Um?" He stammered in a hazy melt of accented words, near tripping back on his butt in the snow, though his composure held a bit higher than that. "I... I won't deny that, what you have said."

"Ah, I'm Araneus, altough I'd prefer Aren." Aren held up his left hand, dropping the bag he was holding to do the same with his right, palms facing the other and hoping he seemed as nonthreatening as possible, he had startled him already much to his own regret. "Um... you dropped something and... what's your name?" He scanned the other up and down, spotting the other's flame, or flames and silently deducting he was probably another cultist he probably hadn't simply seen yet. "Do you perhaps need someone to guide you back to the mansion or are you here on purpose?"

Wary fingers dug into the chilling, wet powder at his calves and soon lifted his pan flute up from the cold, placed now in the safety of his coat. To his palms up, Vesuvio merely patted them from his own curiosity, his tail flicking out from the snow and scattering a ribbon of twinkling starlight. "You are nice, though, it confuses me." The haltija admitted a bit blatantly as he released The Aren's hands. "I am eh.. Ah- name- um.. What I am?" Hands gestured in front of his body in a waving motion, patting together for a moment as he tried to think, a task that was becoming hard with his blood sugar. "Vesuvio. I.. Do not know where you are speaking of, though. I am sorry."

Although not obvious Aren raised an eyebrow, slightly tilting his head as he yet again scanned the other up and down. He couldn't help but glance at the other's tail, noting the particles sparkling off it, aloud sigh escaping him as he crossed his arms over each other. "I can be slightly confusing sometimes."
a small smile appeared on his face as he picked up his bag again briefly rummaging through it and taking out what seemed to be another bag, holding chocolates it seemed as Aren opened it and took one out. "Till, the manor, don't be sorry." He awkwardly started gesturing into the distance as he dropped his bag again. "If you're lost you can perhaps just follow me. Or not, depends." He picked another chocolate out of the bag and held it out to Vesuvio. "Want one?"

"Well.." The forest creature started off slowly, careful and soft with a wandering trill traveling in his welcoming voice. He had heard the word manor before, but if it meant food, some rest, and directions, he was happy for anything. "I can come, but because I think you are an ally to myself now. Is this correct?" Vesuvio questioned with his trailing accent, and soon enough he found his ears twitching from this way to that, his hand reaching for the odd thing in Aren's palm. Lifting it, smelling it, now licking it, he seemed without interest until he sunk his dagger sharp canines into the thing, sticking it in his mouth and seeming to perk up as he chewed. From beneath the snow, his tail flicked up and swayed fast from side to side, his body soon curving as he walked a half circle around the new human-creature he had met and beamed brightly after swallowing. "What was that!" He exclaimed in more of a call than a question, tucking his cape close to himself and granting an excited gaze.

"I am, I mean no harm." Aren nodded for emphasis. He might have watched the other more carefully than necessary as the other took the chocolate from his palm, grinning at the other's eventual reaction as he ate it. He picked another chocolate out of the bag and held it up. "It's chocolate and it's the best thing in the world, I found it in the manor kitchen." He stuffed the chocolate into Vesuvio's hands as he picked up the bigger bag and started walking, signaling at Vesuvio to follow him.

"Choo-co-late." Vesuvio hummed with vivid intrigue and long a's as he trailed behind the other man patiently, carrying his staff close and taking the other treat into his mouth with a smile. Aren seemed like a lovely ally, and whatever that "chocolate" stuff was that he was gifting him, well, it was like tasting a smile. The crunch of his boots kicking up untouched blankets of snow was something he always favored, knowing well that the plants below were having a long rest, and that he ought to keep it that way for now; even with spring rearing its head soon.

Aren adopted a slight hop in his step as he walked before Vesuvio, now and then glancing behind him to check if the other was still following him and sometimes tossing him more chocolate, noting the bag had quite quickly emptied and sighing. He probably had other sweets but he didn't exactly plan to eat all the chocolate in one go.
"Well, it seems you have fallen into favor."
Aren shook his head at the voice in the back of his head, ignoring the owl demon in his mindscape for now. He reeled around to face Vesuvio again, walking backwards as he did. "Do you hang around in the forest often?"

As they walked through the uncharted territory, Vesuvio's soft eyes scoped around the white, tranquil paradise while he finished the chocolate. Through their conversation, everything was simply so hushed from the snow particles absorbing each sound that tried to bounce from them. Though far from home, he at least had one familiarity of it. "I just try to give some care to the living things in them, but, this forest isn't where I belong." Vesuvio paused slowly, lowering his gaze. "I've strayed too far from where I do belong, and for once I don't know my way back."

Aren slightly kicked the snow out of the way, regretting he doesn't actually wear shoes and blessing the fact his body temperature generally was whatever temperature the surroundings had. "So you're not from around here?" Aren paused on the ridge, staring at Tila that had now come into clear view. It would probably be easier travel via shadow. "I know that feeling of being lost I suppose. Say, two questions, do you want to see Tila on the inside and do you need to breathe?"

"No." Vesuvio answered simply, lowering his gaze towards the ground as he dragged his staff along carefully in the thick snow. "I don't need to breathe for about.. Five minutes. Then I begin to get dizzy." One of his clawed hands raised up to the hem of his tasseled cloak, pulling it around his lithe form comfortably while they walked. "I'm not sure what that is, but, if there is warmth on the inside, I'd appreciate that."

"Alright then." Aren paced over to a tree, walking a circle around before kneeling down and poking in it's shadow, deducting it was deep enough. "I know a shortcut into Tilä, but you have to trust me alright?" He held out his hand to the other, already sinking into the shadow a few centimeters. "And under no circumstance you should let go in the shadows."
