"I'd love to." Aren replied with a somewhat relieved sigh, picking up on the awkwardness and following along, noting the tea kettle. "I hope you have enough sugar however, I'm a sweet tooth as much as I'd hate to admit it. But the cookies are great after all." He jested, picking a cookie from the pile. "So how did you find yourself here?"

"You mean at the cult?" Chance asked as she filled the kettle with water. "Honestly, I don't really know how I joined. The last thing I remember was that I’d just arrived in Portland, then the next thing I knew I was at the cult's manor with my soul detached.”
As Chance finished speaking, she lit a burner on the stove and placed the now full tea kettle onto it. Plucking another cookie out of the pile while she waited for the water to boil, she told Aren, “If you’d like something sweeter than tea, I have some hot chocolate mix instead, or you can help yourself to one of the sodas in the fridge.”

"No, tea is just fine." Aren said with a smile, internally pondering about the sugar stores that were about to deplete by his sweet tooth. "Any idea why you came to Portland?" He followed to pick another cookie from the pile, after a brief pause taking a second and the sweets disappearing at a more rapid pace. "Or maybe in other words, what was your life like before all this? Up to the point you remember?"

Chance busied herself with retrieving a pair of mugs from another cabinet, her back turned to Aren as she answered back. “Well, I used to travel around a lot, and never stayed in any one place for more than a couple of months. Portland was just another point on the map for me.” She turned around, placing the mugs on the counter as she asked back, “And what about you? How was life for you before you joined the cult?”
