(( Sand Wraith )) The dry grass crunched under the scarecrow's soleless black shoes as the walls of maize pulled back for their master, and returned to their original position after he passed by, being so careful as to not let the razor sharp edges of the leaves touch even a hair on the scarecrows blond head. It was like they pulled back out of fear, or respect. Said troublemaker looked harmless, but he was a rotten soul. The tall stalks of corn knew this well, for they had seen the atrocities the patchwork menace had committed in their confines. The scarecrow continued on his little patrol around the edges of his 'fortress' until his feet hit a bare patch of land, or what looked more like sand. Black sand. A path had been cleared straight through the side of his field into a winding confusing mess. Dunes of sand held down the sharp walls of corn and almost seemed to be burning it, very, very slowly. The scarecrow sighed and crossed his arms as he placed a foot on a particularly high mound of sand. "I guess little Corvo is slacking on his job agaaaaain." He said to no one in particular with a hint of exasperation. He gently tapped the brim of his hat to wake it up from its seemingly peaceful nap. The luminescent blue eye popped open with a strange thwacking noise, glancing around for a second before groaning out. "What do you want?""Tell me which way the trail leads, I don't want to get sand in my straw, you know how long that takes to clean? Too long for me to bother with.”The cynical hat made another strange groaning noises before twitching and gesturing vaguely in the direction of where the trail ended, earning a happy hum from the scarecrow before lazily floating off to find whoever dared to trample his field.

Corn fields aren’t meant to be sharp. Yet here she was; red lines of blood forming on the paper thin cuts on her hands and arms. She should have known better, nothing in this damn place ever conformed to the convention of the rest of the world. Not the forest, not the water, not the ice or the rocks, hell even some of the sand felt wrong. The cornfield was apparently just as odd.
“Who builds a cult next to a cornfield anyway?” The complaint left her mouth like a whisper, she wouldn’t dare to complain about the leadership openly. It was less so that she was terrified of Tapi and more so she hated getting yelled of at. All and all she supposed it didn’t really matter, there were lots of cool things littered around. Things most would ignore or not dare to touch.
Femur and humerus bones where large and thick, when bound together into a triangle they made excellent frames for dream catchers. And there were lots of bones here. Lots. Enough to make her willing to brave the corn again in the future. If there was a future for the stalks that now sat under the mounds of black sand. It was a cruel fate; the plants had done nothing wrong. But it couldn’t be avoided when kindness had nearly sliced her visionless eye to ribbons.
There was however a distinct feeling of uneasiness in her now, something had disturbed her path. It was likely a mouse or something, she was probably imagining things. Shaking her head, she pulled a great deal of the sand back to her and put it back into the hourglass. She also stored a great many of the things she had collected within the confines of the pocket dimension. She still sat on a large pile of sand stringing together a dream catcher, she was in too deep to stop now if she did stop the netting would be fallen apart by the time she came back to it.

The scarecrow continued to float lazily along the trail of black sand, leaning a hand down to drag a hand along it for a short while. He wasn’t too worried about the intruder. They would either get lost, or a guardian would trample them.
Snack found the sand was definitely warmer than actual sand would be, and sharper. It was almost like billions of tiny black diamonds were scrapping along the fingertips of his black gloves. His rustled a bit at the strange feeling, deciding to pull his hand away from the odd substance. Flicking the brim of his hat again, he woke the hat once more.
“They still alive?”
“Yes, but surely you don’t need my help with this?” Enigma grew irritated with all the constant disturbances in his nap. Who knew clothing could sleep?
Snack snorted. “When have I ever needed your help, old man?”
One of the hat ends reached up to smack the scarecrows face, finding himself not able to follow through as he scarecrow had landed a vice grip onto said appendage, earning a growl from the sentient hat. “I remember a certain contract that stated otherwise, you shit.”
Snack let his feet touch the black sand as he clapped his hands together, tilting his head to the side and laughing. “I believe that was more of you needing my help, dear, or have you forgotten from all these years? Maybe you really are getting old.”
As the hat mumbled angrily, Snack opted to ignore it and walk the rest of the way, which was found to be a bad idea. Snack grew increasingly annoyed with all the sand in his shoes and straw. He found himself having to more than once shake the annoyance out of the orange fluff. He looked almost like a cat with its fur standing up. He decided he’d shove sand in the intruders eyes for this chore.
The scarecrow eventually came up to see a mound of sand which seemed to have a figure seated on top a few yards away, they did not seem to notice his presence.
With a huff of relief, Snack rubbed his hands together, eliciting strange black leach looking sparks from his fingertips. The pulsing magic slowly circled around the blond’s arms before abruptly shooting down into the sand and darting towards the intruder. It appeared like worms writhing grotesquely under skin as it slithered through the substance with ease, jerking erratically from side to side, aiming for the others back with the intent of turning them into a snake. Much either to step on and crush that way.

Erylie became gradually more and more disturbed. There was unmistakably without a doubt something wrong. She clung to the aspiration that it was some sort of rodent, blaming paranoia for her uneasiness. Well that was until a fierce tremor wracked her body, this caused the wraith to speedily leap off of her little black dune and turn around.
Okay so, whatever was squirming around under her sand would have to go. But it was nice to know she wasn’t going crazy. Erylie disintegrated for a moment when the leach-like creatures finally leapt at her, forming back into a recognizable shape when the magic dispersed for lack of a target.
“Ew, how long have those been following me?” It was a question meant for no one, but if anyone would have been willing to answer there would be little objection from her. She brushed off her cloak with one hand the other still firmly grasping her project; she was still working on the netting. To leave it now would be a crime! She was almost done anyway, one more loop. She finished it in seconds, tying it off and tucking it into the seemingly endlessness of the hourglass. Only then did she bother to scope out the surrounding corn.
The figure was likely taller than Erylie judging by the corn around them. They did look a little funny. Bright orange tufts sticking out everywhere like a worn out ragdoll. The hat seemed to have two tails both with flames on the end. A fellow cultist perhaps? She decided that this was likely the source of the leaches. They didn’t look all that dangerous, but neither did a bottle of poison or a floating hourglass.

Hm, it was a weak spell. At least this person wasn't incompetent. That would have been a drag. And literally a drag, the downside of getting to kill someone yourself is dragging the body back for his birds to eat. However, the scarecrow was surprised that the ever present guardians were currently nowhere in sight, a disgusting yet familiar pang of worry wormed through his insides before he shoved it out of his mind for a later time.
The figure had finally caught sight of him, which wasn't hard seeing as he was mighty tall. Snack appreciated the fact that the woman in front of him seemed completely unsuspicious of the him, it was almost cute. Indeed his innocent seeming face and silly attire had its perks to deceiving the more foolish of the flock of sheep. Contrary to his appearance, he was disgusting.
Not wasting anymore time with inner monologuing, the scarecrow seemed to flicker past into the forest of corn, the rapid crunching of dry grass and leaves returning ever so sporadically as Snack snaked his way around his domain, circling around until the girl found herself smelling the faintest hint of straw. She turned around to see said straw shit smiling innocently, a great juxtaposition from the intimidating size difference.
"I believe you've taken the wrong path, shortcake. Now you stand upon sacred ground." Snack's single eye stared unblinkingly at the shorter as he let the remaining sand stuck in his straw slide through his fingertips like pudding.
"But it is a surprise you got past all of my security." He mused, watching the strange substance in his hand. "You must have a shit load of luck to not have been found by Scarab, I congratulate you."

Well fuck. Fuck, fuck, fuck. This was no good. She should not have let them get this close, sure blondie here had moved pretty quickly. But now they were too close, and too tall, and just what the hell were they doing with a hand full of her sand. They kind of smelled worse than straw, the smell was more akin to rotting meat inside of a barn. This person was defiantly disturbing in a shit ton of ways.
“Oh? Is that’s what this is, sorry about that. I’ve never actually seen this place before, wondering what was up with it.” Erylie laughed almost nervously, turning her staff in one hand, before letting a hint of bitterness start to slide off of her words.
“Well in that case, bet you’re not too happy with me, right? Because everyone in this damn place has to be so territorial and offensive when I really just come for the junk they don’t do anything with.”
Whoops, she probably shouldn’t have said that last part; or any of it really, but she really hadn’t thought it through before it left her mouth, something she’d likely regret. Erylie was so just sick of not being able to get her supplies without getting chased off or attacked. What was she doing other than actually cleaning up the area? Nothing! It was infuriating, yes this time she did fuck up some corn, sure, but it almost destroyed what was left of her eye and she was not going to let that happen.
A friend had fixed what they could of it for her and now is the only reminder of the little kindness that Eterna was capable of. That stupid hourglass had disappeared years ago, she wasn’t sure if they were dead or even capable of dying so she held on to what she could.
“So you're here to kill me, or chase me off right? Here let me take that for you.” She huffed letting her emotions show in her speech, as if she had a choice she spoke without thinking almost every time she opened her mouth, she was very bad at comebacks for this same reason. Erylie moved one of her hands, successfully removing her sand from the other’s hands and into her staff. It was the most she could do to calm herself, blondie was too tall and too creepy.
All she really wanted to do was run, every fiber in her being was telling her to leave. It took a lot not to start running off into the corn, but remembering that the corn was super sharp would be enough motivation for now. Not to mentioned if she did start running she’d have to bury more corn and something told her that this tall fuck wouldn’t like that.

Snack snickered, the simple gesture reverberating eerily off the seemingly solid walls of corn that seemed to exponentially stretch taller every second, curving and warping against an imaginary ceiling. Blinking seemed to reset the motions, it was like a dream.
The scarecrow bridged his fingers. "I wouldn't say I'm not happy, only a few things could ruin my mood. But if I were you I'd watch those fangs, I'd hate to get my hands dirty by ripping them out of your skull." As if to emphasize the last word he dragged a nail across his neck. When the sand had left its prison of straw, said threads rustled a last time before flattening, happy to be rid of the pest.
Snack slithered his hand up one of the long purple tassels on the woman's cape before dragging it all the way towards the end, where a shiny blue crystal was nestled deep in the thick fabric.
"Oh straight to the point, how kind of you to not make me beat around the bush." He scraped his nails around the edges of the blue gem, loosening its bond with the fabric. "I'll give you some choices."
"One" he twisted the gem to the right, "We could do the ol' cat and mouse, villains love doing that don't they?" The girl could feel her heart beating in the throat.
"Or we could do it the easy way" he ripped the blue gem out of the fabric as the the ends of his hat seemed to rip and tear with an almost metallic shing, morphing into a deadly edge, looking like twin scythes. They encircled the two cultists menacingly, the points of the weapons pressed dangerously close the the back of the sand wraith's neck. The brim of the hat bounced happily as snack gave her the familiar false smile. He tossed the gem lightly in his hand without a care in the world for the living being.
"Hopefully the crows don't have too much fun with you once you're gone."

The wraith was caught somewhere between anger and fear. This person had been throwing condescending ‘compliments’ and threats her way since she had been found. Now he had the audacity to tear a hole in her cloak. He was infuriatingly calm as if he controlled the entire universe. It made her want to shove a fistful of sand into his eyes and rip that smug smile off of his face with her bare hands.
And yet, it was the fear that kept her from clawing his eyes out. Blondie was intimidatingly tall, magic, and also seemed to control the corn field they were currently trapped in. So there would be no spitting in his face.
Erylie swallowed hard trying not to show her emotions. Something I her hood stirred seemingly annoyed at the sudden movements and talking. “Ah well, I would love to play, but it looks like Isirmak is waking up.” She flashed a quick nervous smile and ducked under one of the long hat ends. Putting her staff behind her, and leaning back on her heels for a moment, she clarified her point.
“I mean, I’m sure that going blind isn’t beneficial to you, I’m afraid she likes to aim for eyes.” The words were spoken with considerable more confidence than before, something to do with not being trapped seemed the likeliest reason. One more nervous smile followed her statement, as well as a spray of sand in the scarecrow’s general direction. The scarecrow would find Erylie quite annoying to fight with her constant sand in the eyes and attempts to subdue under piles of sand. The glass would tear his stitching apart like scissors to paper.
It was time to leave before this psycho cornered her again. She had no idea if she was going in the proper direction or heading deeper into the field, but the rows had to end at some point. It was just a matter of avoiding anything else in this dizzying pattern of green and yellow stalks.
