Pia perked up at the sudden noise above her, stretching on the rock she had currently settled on. In a way she didn't necessarily feel like leaving the shadows at the moment. But then again it would be incredibly rude not to, and oh, where were her manners?
She drifted upwards, exiting the shadows a little bit farther away from Jeu as a haze at first before starting to solidify, tilting her head with apparent curiosity as she sized up the creature calling out to her from a distance.
Everything about this seemed to only count up to a potential game.
She completely solidified as her feet lightly hit the ground, straightening her dress with a hum and leaning against a tree, sizing up the other with a peculiar smile. "Well, salutations, who would you be? And of course we can talk miss."

Pia quietly folded her hands together and nodded, the same smile growing wider. "Mm, I'm not one for titles, but yes, you do not seem like one wanting to discuss upcoming spring fashion." She jested, starting to float yet again as she drew closer. "So it's safe to assume you are here for a game." She continued in a pleasant hum, propping her head on her hands, supported by the very air. "So, what's the catch, and do you wish to engage in a game purely to establish dominance? You seem like one to do so"

"Ah, so you do smile." Pia remarked, more a note to herself than anything, before raising her hand and the shadows beneath her rippling. "That is a good goal to strive for, matching actions to words. So consider your challenge accepted." At that something raised out of the shadows, an orb made of the dark matter that hid the item what Pia had in mind for a wager.
"I used to play for souls, just for the fun of it but since the both of us lack that, yes, a trinket could work out. And though you play for status it might be an interesting reminder for if you win, you can't deny that might be an interesting bragging right." Pia spoke in a slight lilt, tilting her head in the usual way again as she took not of the subtle movements the other made.

"My oh my, aren't you having fun already." Pia murmured to herself, slightly bouncing the almost solid orb of shadows in her hand. With a few taps the shadows dissipated and something fell out with a clink, Pia glancing at it before holding it out to properly show Jeu. "This, is a family heirloom, a necklace as you can see. Concerning it's status, I think you can imagine the outrage it would cause if I lost it, and I'd rather not. So I reckon you can imagine what something like that is worth."
She held it back a bit again, a playful smile appearing on her face as she raised her other hand and brief translucent objects flashed in red, shifting between a violin and a chess board before settling on the latter and it's shape fading. "I'd think you'd find this trinket to have interesting uses too, but I will tell you if you win." the ghostly objects floating above her hand faded as she focused her gaze back on Jeu. "Forgive me, I get so distracted with chit chat. Chess sounds like an excellent measure of skill, luck is a silly thing to rely on after all."

"As much as I'd love to see the board you play with I think starting off simple would be better since we just met." A sleek marble chess board materialized from the shadow, a table and chair following soon. "That is to say, my game making is not as flashy probably. And you did come here to pose the challenge, so I believe it could be only fair to use my board." She spun the board a bit in mid air before halting it and setting it down, the side with the white pieces facing Jeu.
"There is only one more thing you'd have to do if we're using my board and that is that you'll have to shake my hand." With a simple snap of the fingers red translucent flames engulfed Pia's right hand, holding it out to Jeu. "I hope these conditions are acceptable for you."

Pia couldn't help but smile as she took note the other seemed to appreciate the board she summoned, it gently floating towards the table and setting itself down with a click.
"Yes, a 'deal' of sorts, I should perhaps explain my rules too." She held her hand back a bit and propped the other on her hip, gesturing as she started speaking. "Cheating does equal loss yes, it also equals some kind of punishment, often it's some kind of bodily ailment but of course I get to choose what happens to the cheater, I don't exactly cheat after all." She scowled slightly, the amount of humans who tried cheating on her virtually uncountable at this point. "And I know directly when someone cheats."
She sighed as she realized she was being a tad too antagonistic, holding her hand out again. "Well, forgive me, memories can be annoying things. I trust you won't cheat, so moving on, yes, forfeit equals loss, I think our rules are mostly the same. So yes, your rules are fair and acceptable to me."

"It would be a nice thought." Pia wondered to herself quietly, seeing a brief glow forming in the distance and knowing the absolute territory had been confirmed. "I am at the very least glad chess is not exactly a game one can cheat at, simply beg if I go easy on them." She huffed as she took a seat, catching herself complaining again. "In either way, tell me more about yourself. If we're here anyway we might as well exchange details."
she glanced over the other's opening move, thinking briefly before taking a breath. "Pawn from e7 to e6." She moved the pawn forward before looking up at Jeu again. "And besides wanting to hear more about you, I want to know how you got in possession of that crystal, I'm curious."

"Bishop f8 to b4." Pia stated, seeing the pawn being moved forward by a shadow as she fixed her hat.
A small snicker escaped her at the story, not so much as it was fun to her. "Personally I'd have dumped them into the shadows, it's the cheaters fate after all." She mused on the idea a bit more, sighing as she remembered that breathing tended to be difficult at best in the shadow world. "That sounds troublesome, luck based games, well, I won't deny they can be fun at times but only for jovial purposes, one should pick a game based on skill for a serious challenge if you ask me." Pia hummed, leaning sideways and stirring in the shadows for a bit as if looking for something. "What did they desire to win from you in the first place?"
