Tea has a unique beast named Gemmy (you may have read of him in In the Room Where You Sleep or Puppeteer related works) and I figured it'd be fun to expand upon his species. This thread will be for anyone who wishes to expound the species of their cultsona or related characters to their cultsonas.
And now, MY BUGS!
Phobias: Greek dream demons Phobias are a species of dream demon with an agonizing weakness towards sea salt which resides in the Land of Dreams, a section of the Greek Underworld. While highly intelligent and capable of learning the languages of the mortals whose dreams they monitor, they are primarily bestial in behavior and are an incredibly volatile species. As a result, they tend not to mingle with one another or other species. They stay in their realm and only seek out dreams that appeal to them. Some monitor erotic dreams, some monitor nightmares. They monitor for whatever flavor they prefer, as their food source are the dreams themselves. They absorb the energy of the dreamer while participating in the dream, which they usually take the forms of various animals to do.
These demons appear to be gigantic insects and arachnids, ranging from nine feet tall to twelve feet tall. The only features that they all share are having multiple arms, multiple eyes, and antennae or hairs which are used to read emotions and energies of anything they touch as well as communicate intimately by touching to the antennae or hairs of another Phobia. Whether a Phobia has wings, long tongue, or horns depends on the Phobia and the bug it is associated. While they have chitin and appear as bugs, Phobias are not actually bugs. This appearance and their ability to shift into smaller, more recognizable versions of the bugs they are associated with developed as a means of entering dreams without causing suspicion to mortals. Mortals perceive them as being insects and arachnids (or whichever animal they decide to portray in dreams) and not demons.
Their primary duty is to guard the dreams of mortals from the Greek gods, who sometimes attempt to meddle in dreams and do severe damage to the mind of the person in question. This implies they are strong enough to in fact kill gods. It also denotes the primary rule put in place by the gods who rule over them: never cause so much harm to mortals that they die.
The god who put this rule into place is Icelus. Icelus, who is an amalgamation of the three brothers Morpheus (god of dreams and humans depicted in dreams), Phobetor (god of nightmares and animals depicted in dreams), and Phantasos (god of prophetic dreams and inanimate objects and scenery depicted in dreams), is an eleven foot tall black skinned being with three pairs of eyes and three pairs of wings representing each brother. All eyes have black scleras and Icelus dresses in the colors of sunset and sunrise. They are often seen in oranges, yellows, and pinks. The top pair of eyes hold white irises and the top pair of wings are black and white spotted like the night sky. The middle pair of eyes hold cobalt irises and the middle pair of wings are pitch black. The bottom pair of eyes hold baby blue irises and the bottom pair of wings are black with white contour feathers. From top to bottom are the brothers Phantasos, Morpheus, and Phobetor. On his head there is a set of moth-like antennae which lay flat when not in use, extending down his back and between his wings. They stop at his lower back and are prehensile. If all six eyes are open while Icelus is speaking, the individual they are speaking to has the attention of all three brothers. If a brother is disinterested, the eyes associated with him will close and the interested brothers’ eyes will remain open. Should a Phobia break the rule of not killing mortals repeatedly, Icelus will eventually find them and recite their crimes as they tear the Phobia apart slowly.
Phobias are single sexed, possessing a pocket at the base of their torso which is covered by a layer of chitin until they consciously reveal it. This pocket has a dual purpose: concealing the member (often tentacle in shape or nature but varying from Phobia to Phobia) which can emerge during sexual acts, and maintaining an environment fit for incubation. Phobias are ovipositors, and all are just as capable of laying eggs as carrying them.
Phobias, being primarily solitary and violent towards others of their species, tend not to take on life partners. However, it is not impossible to find a mated pair among Phobias. Phobia courtship begins with a fight. The Phobia who wishes to dominate the other will incite a fight with the other, and if they win they then mate with the Phobia in question to complete the ritual. If the Phobia attacked wins, however, they then decide whether to dominate the one who attacked them, kill them, or run them off. These rituals are almost always bloody.
Mated pairs can bear offspring whenever they see fit. However, due to the necessity of survival and continuing the species, there developed a breeding season which comes about ever three hundred years. Every three hundred years in the summer months, Phobias go through a five day period each where they will experience a need to copulate. Usually these five days include a pattern of wrestling with a Phobia’s chosen partner for the season, mating, and pinning each other to the ground all in a show of dominance and, sometimes, affection. From this season, Phobias can produce anywhere from three to ten offspring. These offspring start off as larva and, as soon as they shed their first skin and can move and find nourishment on their own they are expected to fend for themselves. Their first shed usually happens within the first year of life. Phobias stop shedding and reach sexual maturity at two hundred years of age. A juvenile is usually spotted as being smaller than the average height of a Phobia, and they are chubbier in appearance and tend to crawl as opposed to walking upright. A Phobia’s pregnancy can last up to a month per offspring, which hatch and emerge from the Phobia’s body all at once. When born, a Phobia can range from one to three feet tall depending on the size of the parent.
While possible to oviposit two to ten times the number of eggs into mortals (a mortal’s body can hold more eggs than a Phobia’s pocket), offspring will hatch two weeks prematurely and they will come out unable to develop into full-fledged Phobias. They will stay the size and shape of typical earthly insects and arachnids, possessing only the ability to influence the emotion of mortals nearby. These offspring often kill their mortal host, whether by exhausting them and their dreams or by eating them from the inside out depending on how they were inserted into the body.

Boggarts and BrowniesBrownies and boggarts are a species of house spirit that primarily live in Europe and it is exceedingly rare to find them on other continents. Their features are uniform in that they are slender, black furred creatures with anthropomorphic legs, prehensile tails, long and pointed prehensile ears, fanged mouths, and clawed fingers. Their eyes are large and glow in the darkness, and can be yellow, red, or blue in color. Their eye color, carriage of their bodies, and nose and internal color (black or pink) are their only major variations and distinctions from one another aside from personality. Female brownies and boggarts range from four to five feet in height, whereas males range from seven to nine feet. Males have long claws on their left index fingers, whereas females have wings meant for gliding that lie flat and unseen on their backs until spread. These creatures tend to hide in the shadows and dark lit areas of homes. They have the same intelligence level of humans, but also spend their lives out of sight. Their main method of survival is hiding and sneaking. From this method developed their abilities to turn invisible in the shadows, shrink in size, and mimic voices. When weak or ill (whether from sickness or poisoning, a common killer of the otherwise indefinitely living brownie or boggart), they tend to shrink and shrink until they either perish or get well again and regrow. This developed as a defense mechanism so that even while at their weakest they are hiding. No brownie or boggart has a unique voice of its own, and can only mimic. To identify a brownie or boggart who is mimicking, there is usually a hum in the tone of the voice that sounds very much like the faint static on a radio station. The primary difference between brownies and boggarts is how they relate to the humans in the home their residing. Brownies are timid and benevolent, often cleaning up behind the humans while they are asleep or away. Boggarts are often characterized as more malevolent, their tricks ranging from simple pranks to elaborate traps to do significant harm and scare the human out of the household. Brownies and boggarts are solitary creatures and tend to live alone throughout their lives. Males will often seek one time mates by presenting their claws to nearby females, their claws allegedly indicators of their length. If a female accepts, she will stay and converse with the male before agreeing to mate with him. If she does not, she will glide away in search of something else to do. After mating, the male and female usually part and go about their business. A female carries offspring for approximately twelve months. When the offspring is born, it is already ready to live on its own and is usually left in an empty house by the mother. Brownies and boggarts also do not exclusively mate with members of the opposite sex. There have been instances where a female has judged another female based on her wings and stayed the night with her. There have also been instances where a male has responded favorably to the showing of another male’s claw. It is unusual for brownies and boggarts to develop lasting relationships with other brownies and boggarts, but they have historically been known to become attached to families living in their households or to other species in general. Usually companionship between brownies and boggarts can only be found in full-blooded siblings born at the same time. The mother would not bother to separate them at birth, and so they would grow together and become attached to one another. One species that brownies and boggarts have an interesting history with are shade walkers. Because they both reside in shadow and darkness to an extent, they formed a symbiotic relationship where shade walkers would often help brownies and boggarts hide in exchange for cleaning or tricks. There have been instances where a brownie or boggart has become attached enough to a shade walker that they mated with them and produced halfling children. Half brownies and half boggarts are covered in the same fur as their parent, but they appear more human in body. They may also have full heads of hair and prehensile tails, their ears humanoid but pointed slightly. Their eyes range from purple to orange to red, and while having more of a human shape with black scleras as opposed to the large and round brownie or boggart shape they do still glow faintly. Demons/Court of Solomon
Disclaimer: With this I don't mean demons as a whole but a very specific part, just a facet of a species.
Society
Hell exists of layers, nine to be specific topped by one neutral, a zone before sinners who wish to rise to paradise can enter purgatory. The neutral zone is divided in several territories. These territories are owned by ten kings each, seven of them representing the seven deadly sins, the other three having assigned different aspects that grew over time, often related to levels of hell the other kings don't oversee themselves.
The kings that are deemed most prominent are as follows: - Asmodeus of house Luxuria (lust) - Baal of house Ira (wrath) - Paimon of house Gula (gluttony) - Viné of house Acedia (sloth) - Balam of house Invidia (envy) - Belial of house Avaritia (greed) - Zagan of house Superbia (pride)
The remaining three are know as Purson, Beleth and Amdusias, all three having an assigned asset but often tasked with more subtle tasks or remaining on the background by choice. Beleth is known as the judge and often in charge of running grand trials in case of treachery and for when the high rules are broken. These kings are often more occupied with the layers of hell below than with the neutral zone or the waking world.
Kings are under Lucifer, the highest in command, each having a horde of demons working for them that for the most part willingly handed their souls over to them, often seeking out a king with a shared aspect. These ten kings form the court of Solomon with a number of other demons, totaling the amount of members on 72. These demons are referred to as such due to their once enslavement by King Solomon, the experience causing them to purge evidence of their existence and make sure not to interact with humans under any circumstance.
The 62 demons excluding the kings have their own ranks, ranging from prince to count. Demons can raise in rank by performing exceptional feats, such as preventing assassinations on kings or years of service, demotion impossible unless a rule is broken.
These demons can come from all kinds of places, promoted incubi and mind demons alike, examples being Jung/Phenex, a mind demon and Mercer/ Forneus, a former incubus. Demons tend to take other names from time to time as their identity changes, be it via the influx of souls they merge with or active tampering from kings.
Demons within Solomon's court and outside of it are expected to pledge allegiance to one of the ten kings, but this is not a necessity. The majority of demons has pledged their soul to a king already but few remain who haven't, either not wishing to be bound to a king's rules or not able to find proper attachment to one.
The court of Solomon has set up an absolute set of rules for themselves, and for them specifically as there could still be danger that needs to be taken into account. The main and most memorized rules are as follows: - The kings or any other member of the court of Solomon will not leave Hell under any circumstances - No kings are allowed to be harmed or killed, the punishment being death - Members of the court of Solomon will not do harm onto each other - Members who swore loyal to a king remain loyal, the punishment upon breaking this rule being frozen in ice in the ninth layer for an undetermined amount of time - Members of the court will not make deals with the lost souls that wander hell, the punishment being thrown into the appropriate location in the eight circle, Malebolge.
There are more rules, based on old writings, most counting for all demons in general. Regular demons that are excluded from the court of Solomon however, are free to roam the earth.

I decided to clarify what I mean when I call Tea a skinwalker. I have tried to stay as true to what is known of skinwalkers in real life as possible while also letting this type of legend develop into a species in the Candle Cult universe. Examples and sources for real legends of skinwalkers: www.navajolegends.org/navajo-skinwalker-legend/sites.lib.byu.edu/worldhistory/folklore-william-a-wilson-folklore-archives/popular-search-topics/skin-walkers-navajo-legend/skinwalkerranch.org/blog/index.php?/archives/5-American-Indian-lore-behind-the-skinwalker..htmlSkinwalkersLittle is known of skinwalkers, as the majority of them have either gone into deep hiding or were wiped out by outside forces such as the Puppeteers. There are very few of them if any anymore, and so there are few means of passing on magical tradition and ritual to younger generations. This does not mean magic cannot be learned as it means a skinwalker must go about learning to access through other means instead of the rituals that once were taught to their species. A skinwalker is a type of Native American (most famously Navajo) shapeshifter who uses the pelt of a specific animal to shift into that animal. Skinwalkers and Native American people believed them to be human beings blessed with the appearance and traits of animals. They were thought to be very proficient members of society, as they had the intelligence of a human being and the speed, agility, and strength of animals. Often they are born into families that honor a specific animal and that animal characterizes their behavior and abilities. When a skinwalker is born, they are born human. They appear human and do not gain their abilities or traits until they have hit puberty. Once they start experiencing puberty, the changes will often be preceded by aching gums and fingertips and light sensitivity. One night these aches will reach their peak and the young skinwalker will grow talons, fangs, and a feature belonging to the animal they are most closely related to. For example, a wolf skinwalker would have golden eyes or a crow or raven skinwalker would have black feathers lining their spine. Their eyes will also reflect and they will have more acute senses. Even without a pelt, they possess these physical features. Matured skinwalkers gain the capability of imitation, meaning they can mimic the sound of any animal they have heard or seen. They can also imitate the voices of their relatives. Animals skinwalker families were often bonded to included eagles, hawks, owls, crows, ravens, foxes, bears, wolves, otters, and in general any animal that could be found in the Americas, skinned, and worn as a pelt. As it was taboo for pelts of animals to be worn (aside from ceremonial sheepskin and buckskin), a skinwalker often kept their pelt hidden until nightfall, when they would undress and put it on to transform. While in animal form or a partial animal human form, they maintained their human faculties but experienced heightened senses related to the animal they were bonded to. Whether they chose to go out in pelt was entirely up to the skinwalker, but if their animal self had a mating season they would experience it with or without the pelt. Skinwalkers experience their first season up to two to five years after their maturation, and those in season could sometimes be violent, possessive, and lustful. They lose control of their animal voice and often vocalize and display for anyone they desire to join them in their heat. When their season occurs and how long it lasts depends entirely on the animal. As all skinwalkers are medicine men (and sometimes women) or witches, they have a natural inclination and are capable of practicing healing magic and conjuration. They can also summon spirits for temporary aid and advice. However, there are those that lose their humanity and become more inclined towards curses and plagues. It is believed by skinwalkers that they were given these abilities by a higher being, and that these abilities were meant to help them do good. However, some abused these abilities. Those who abused these abilities entered onto a path called the Witchery Way, which is a path towards becoming feral and ruled by one’s animosity or need for vengeance. The majority of skinwalkers were largely benevolent, but those who stepped onto the Witchery Way were incredibly malicious. The way to get on the path is to commit an unforgivable act such as rape or murder against a family member or loved one, and once someone is on the path they are no longer able to enter private residences and must be invited in. A skinwalker on the path who cannot enter private residences will often wait outside and vocalize, knocking on the walls and attempting to frighten the occupants enough into being drawn out in fear. They will also seek opportunities to gain articles of clothing, hair, or possessions of someone. With these items, they can curse the individual the item belongs to so that they fall ill. Skinwalkers on the Witchery Way can also summon plagues of pestilence upon villages. Learning the full name of the skinwalker gives power over them and can allow individuals to banish them. To progress along the Witchery Way, one must continue to act on their desire to harm loved ones. It is believed (or at the very least not disproven) that it is impossible to reverse one’s progression along the path. Once on the Witchery Way, a skinwalker cannot get off. They may remain at one stage, or progress until they are feral. The stages truly begin with the loss of human voice. Then it continues towards heightened senses. With heightened senses comes the affinity for curses, plagues, and malicious behavior. As the skinwalker continues to progress along the Witchery Way, they steadily goes mad with power and vengeance and rage until they can no longer remain in human form. They have to resort to partial animal human form and they are no longer capable of living peacefully amongst humans. Skinwalkers are also said to be more sensitive to energies, and are often prone to being born with empathic or telepathic abilities that can be honed with practice and used either benevolently or malevolently depending on the skinwalker. They are also resistant to mind control or anything that challenges their free will. This is why groups like the Puppeteers sought to hunt them down rather than capture them all: they could not be controlled easily and they posed a threat. And so the species has been reduced to an unknown number so small or well hidden that they are presumed extinct by many. CLOSED SPECIES! (or please consult me before making any) Known skinwalkers (by Tea): -Leah Creek-Sverre (wolf) [DECEASED] -Tea/Rowan Alder Sverre (wolf) -Atticus (crow)

I have added characters to my other species descriptions. Also . . .
HAVE ANOTHER SPECIES
Manifestations: Magical Constructs Magical constructs come in many forms. One such form is called a Manifestation. A Manifestation can be created by any living being who is innately connected to magic. A Manifestation is never created consciously, and is usually the product of someone who has yet to master their innate magic. In fact, all Manifestations are born of emotional outbursts of any kind. Rage, love, bliss, grief, any emotion combined with untamed innate magic can birth a Manifestation.
A Manifestation neither knows their maker (unless they encounter their maker after birth) nor seeks them out. Their maker is the only being who can end the life of a Manifestation. Should the maker die, the Manifestation will slowly deteriorate until disappearing. This usually occurs over the course of three to six months. A maker who encounters their Manifestation need only acknowledge the emotional outburst that created the Manifestation in order for the Manifestation to start deteriorating. As such, Manifestations with the desire to live go out of their way to avoid their makers. A Manifestation can identify their maker intrinsically. They need only glimpse their maker and they know that is who is responsible for their existence. Manifestations do not breed and it is rare for them to experience the desire to. They are strictly begotten from the combination of a powerful emotional outburst and uncontrolled magical response to said outburst.
Manifestations don’t have a set appearance, but often take the shape of something or someone very close to their maker. If their maker has a personal attachment to an object or creature, the Manifestation may take the shape of that thing. It may also appear as a distortion of that object or creature. Should the Manifestation take the shape of a species of some sort, they will not have any magic or abilities that go along with that species. A Manifestation who takes the shape of a species is merely a physical copy. Anything the species can do physically, such as vocalize, a Manifestation can do. If the species possesses summoning or conjuring abilities, however, those abilities will not show in the Manifestation.
Due to the nature of their birth, Manifestations tend to act almost one dimensionally. The longer they exist, the more emotions they may pick up and display. However, their core emotion which defines their behavior is the emotion from which they are created. A Manifestation born from anger will always act on their anger, even if they have learned to feel other ranges of emotion.

I have an addiction here.
Lesser Elemental Demons
Hell and other cultural underworlds have a great many demons to spare. The Lesser Key of Solomon, Phobias, and many more exist already. While lesser elemental demons may not be the most versatile or powerful demon, they can only be described as beautiful in their destruction.
This class of demon has been perceived as rare only because they hide so well from prying eyes and are difficult to summon. Their powers include the ability to change shape as well as meld with whatever element they are closest to. The four elements air (winds and lightning), water (liquid and ice), fire (lava and steam), and earth (plants and dirt) encompass both rule and are commanded by this class of demon.
Lesser elementals appear to be made entirely of their chosen element, and will disguise themselves within bodies of their element upon short notice. They do not have the same weakness to sigils as other demons though they do respond to summons. They are instead weak to one another, each element having the ability to cancel out or be canceled out by another. A lesser fire elemental is easily tamed by water and a lesser water elemental can be made to evaporate. It is all in a matter of preparation and command.
Lesser elementals aren't tied specifically to any one culture or belief, but the majority have sworn fealty to the four Cardinal Kings of Hell. However, it is not required of them to do so. Their duties on this planet are simply to maintain the balance of the natural state of Earth. They live in volcanoes, oceans, forests, even the sky is their home. They do not interact with humans unless summoned, and once one has been summoned by a particular human that lesser elemental is the only one who may answer that human's summons.
Deals made with lesser elementals rarely involve the selling of souls, and deals are usually only made if a human with innate magic or magical skill shows an interest in either learning the use of their chosen element or simply having access to an elemental to perform acts that will save them or help them in an endeavor. In these deals, the elemental hears the request from the human (whether to learn from them or simply call to them at any point) and then lays out their terms. They inform the human of what they want from them in exchange, and if the human agrees they imbue an object (staff, wand, pen, etc.) with their magic so that they may be summoned without insanely complicated rituals involved. As soon as the lesser elemental is dissatisfied with the deal, they will take their magic back and leave the human.
While capable of doing so, lesser elementals rarely breed. They only do so if their ranks have sufficiently depleted. While they may appear as one sex or another, all are capable of simply splitting themselves in two and growing into two fully functioning lesser elementals. They are capable of mating with one another, but do not always see the point in this practice. There have been cases where a bond between a human and lesser elemental was so strong that they engaged in a sexual relationship, but the offspring begot from such a union are volatile as they have only a solid form and yet can manipulate the element of their lesser elemental parent. Most lesser elementals avoid impregnating a human for this reason.
THIS IS AN OPEN SPECIES, HAVE FUN!
KNOWN LESSER ELEMENTAL DEMONS: Gale (lesser air elemental) Breeze (lesser air elemental) Flint (lesser fire elemental) Cinder (lesser fire elemental) Clay (lesser earth elemental) Reed (lesser earth elemental) Brook (lesser water elemental) River (lesser water elemental)
