The previous group she had found had finally disbanded, going off to the agendas the rebellion had given them, which left the fallen angel to wander the woods. Stuck in a ballgown, her wing out of commission due to some injury she couldn’t quite determine, and covered in ash and dust and God knows what else, Eve wasn’t entirely sure how things could get worse. All she wanted was to either get her wing healed or at least change out of her party outfit, and it seemed like finding another rebel member that could fix her wing was more likely to occur than going back to the manor to change. Thus, the angel decided to continue her journey her way through the woods.
Making her way through the trees, she noticed how she could still see the smoke (or was it dust and debris) rising from the manor along with the cries from the chaos going on inside. Since she could still see and hear it clearly, Eve realized how close in proximity she was to the manor, and her heart began beating faster in knowledge of the fact. She was anticipating something more out of being so close, whether it’d be good or bad. She turned her head away from being able to see and picked up the pace…
...walking straight into the path of another cultist.
Not one she fully recognized, but the flames gave away her position otherwise. Eve froze on the spot, not entirely sure what to say to the potential threat or companion.

The answer came spilling out of her mouth before she even consciously processed the woman’s question. “The unicorn’s.”
Answer out and fully in control of her will, Eve reeled back from the woman and eyed her warily. That was not an answer that she would’ve chosen to use; she wished to be known more to border on neutrality than picking a side, though in technicality she was on the unicorn’s. Once Eve focused on the other, it was obvious that adding the fluff of her side would be futile. Taking another step back in caution, she asked, “What side are you on?”

There was something in the woman’s answer, definitely not aggression, and Eve couldn’t decipher whether is was sympathy or pity. In the end, it didn’t matter much anyway, not with their loyalties on opposite sides of the spectrum and the woman seemingly determined to fight to keep her loyalty intact.
“Look, I really don’t want to do this either, so we have that in common,” the angel replied, backing away from her. An attempt to escape this fight would be futile, but she’d be damned if she didn’t at the very least try. “And I’m probably just about as oblivious to what’s going on as you are. So maybe we could just pretend we never saw each other and just go our separate ways?”
They were empty words meant to stall for time and they both knew it. Taking a deep breath, Eve braced herself for what was going to happen next.

Eve yelped as the mana came flying at her and dived forward onto the ground in effort to dodge it. She felt the attack just barely graze her, not enough to do legitimate damage, yet still enough to make her gasp in surprise. Or perhaps that was simply the fact she didn’t land well, as she had crashed onto her side, knocking the breath out of her. Her shoulder shot out with pain, and she assumed there would be a bruise there later on, though it was the least of her problems at the moment.
What am I going to do? Eve bit her tongue and began to push herself up. What she needed was time to think of something to get her out of this mess, how she was gonna get that she didn’t know…
...until she looked up and saw the forest defending her. Thorned vines had shot out aiming for the woman fighting, and Eve prayed it would buy her enough time to do something. The air had a smouldering scent to it, and she turned to find the mana had hit the tree behind her, burning the base of a branch. The angel scrambled to pick herself up and darted for the tree, grasping the branch and yanking it off. Weapon in hand, she gripped it tightly and hoped there would be an opening soon.

For once, luck seemed to be on the angel’s side. Eve didn’t have to wait long for an opening, the vines distracting the woman long enough. For some reason that Eve couldn’t detect, her opponent turned her back on her and the girl’s grip tightened on the stick in preparation to strike. For a split second, her conscience disapproved of her attacking someone with their back turned, but was quickly replaced with the argument it was simply a luxury that she could no longer afford.
Decision made, Eve ran at the woman and swung the branch at the side of her head. Smack! The momentum made the small girl trip over her feet and her weapon slipped out of her hand. After taking a few moments to regain her footing, she looked back and hoped that the hit was enough to subdue the other.
