Clan/Wyverns:
(Pictures of both water and land Wyverns)
Wyverns are large reptilian like creatures who can change the place where their wings can be located--they can either be on their arms or their back depending on the situation they’re in. They have giant falcon-like-talons that they use to attack their prey and dark horns that curl back on their head, it is very common to see them with an arrowhead tail or spines going down their back as a weapon. They are also known for producing their own poisons making them immune to many, but not all.(Pictures of both water and land Wyverns)
Being a very weak on their own,Wyverns are commonly seen in large groups known as a clan. Clans are very similar to a flock of birds--they build nests and gather food for the entire clan. Within this group of dragons each one of them has a specific ranking that they all must go by--maekrix, arytiss, kamati, harroc, and irisvar. Maekrix being the highest to Kamati being the lowest.
There are two different species of Wyverns, the ones that live in the sea or the ocean and the ones that live in active volcano's or rugged mountain terrains.
The one’s in the ocean have a much different appearance from the one’s in the mountains, they have webbed talons and claws and a long narrow body that allows them to swim through the water. They can breathe underwater for long periods of time but they still have to come up for air from time to time. These dragons still have the same diet as the others who live on the land but it tends to consist of more fish rather than any other form of meat.
These dragons can not breathe fire like their close cousin who can, rather, they can breathe scalding water that can range from 1,000 to 1,000,000 degrees and leave a person with severe burns, they can also use lightning especially in a storm.
The other form of Wyvern would be the ones who live in very hot or rocky terrains. When these dragons are born, their eggs are put within pools of molten lava making sure their scales are immune to heats over thousands of degrees, the only thing that would really cause any harm would be the fire of another dragon or the heat of the sun.
These dragons can breathe fire like any other species, but rather they prefer to convert whatever food they ate and turn it into lava to use as a weapon against any enemies they may encounter. The bad thing about this abilities means they have to eat more than any other species. These Wyverns can not go underwater or else they’re core--the only thing that allows them to breathe fire, will go out and they’ll be put into a comatose state where they’ll have to stay asleep for a week or more until their flame is re-lit once again.
A Wyvern tends to be a common species of dragon that is seen being hunted constantly. Their bodies are very strange. Their blood does not have normal blood cells, rather it has alcohol mixed in with it, practically making it very difficult for them to get drunk off most alcoholic drinks, the scales are either used to make weapons or armor. These dragons a cold blooded like most reptiles so they can’t stand very cold temperatures. Whenever it reaches fall or winter, the clan will start to gather food and the eggs and will migrate like birds to a warmer area, unless they live beside a volcano, they won’t bother to move from their territory until spring.
Maekrix:
The Maekrix is the highest rank within the clan. This title is only meant for the leader--the strongest and wisest of all the dragons. Most times Wyverns will fight for the title of becoming Maekrix but other times when the leader is too strong for any other clan member to defeat, an offspring of that leader will take over once the first decides it’s time to step down from their throne or the heir challenges the Maekrix and wins. The leader is extremely loyal to his clan and the customs that come with it. Just like any other higher up, they must deal with any conflict that may have been started between the other clans.A Maekrix can reign as the leader of the clan for centuries--with a Wyvern being able to live over 10,000,000 years or longer.
The very first Maekrix was decided by pure strength and physical ability, that still may be done with older clan members who still believe in the old ways. For now, it can be decided by magical prowess, intelligence, strength, and how loyal they are to the clan, these rules are put into place to keep the clan from falling into chaos and tyranny like many other Maekrix in the past.
The Maekrix body tends to be adorned with gems and gold almost like a crown in some way to show its royalty, it’ll hold it’s head high and constantly keep watch over their territory. The gems that cover its body tend to be diamonds, emeralds, or sapphires making it the main dragon that most humans will try to kill for it's adorned skin
Arytiss:
The Arytiss would be considered some form of Knight or Warrior, most of the time they are seen around the Maekrix but other times they are either walking along the border, patrolling for any threats or rouges that may be seen trying to cause harm to the clan.Arytiss are the strongest of all the Wyverns within the clan, whether it be physical or spiritual in some way. They are usual seen suited in armor of the scales of other dragons that have been defeated in battle or forge their own out of minerals and metals found within the mountainous terrain of their home.
Unlike the rest of their clan mates, these specific dragons aren’t the most friendly to newcomers, if a human or another creature manages to reach their home without any reason or have not been seen before, they are said to be executed where they stand, giving a reason for most humans to see Wyverns as a bad omen.
Kamati:
In the clan a Kamati would be the apprentice to an older dragon who has more experience in a specific skill set, whether is healing, fighting, hunting, or all three. Very rarely, there is a time when some Wyverns will take a human in as a Kamati and teach them dragon magic to help defend themselves. The human apprentice will, and must stay with the clan until their teachings are complete. The human must treat their mentor with absolute respect or the dragon will, and can, turn down the offer to train them. Throughout the whole training process, they shall learn how to breathe fire, summon wings, learn to take care of the Wyrmlings, hunt with the clan and learn to make potions and armor for the times where they must fight to test their abilities.
With dragons, the entire process is much similar to humans except they must be taught to use much stronger forms of magic that can only be used by Wyverns and a select number of other dragons.
Harroc:
This rank of the clan would be considered hunters in a way. They go out into groups when they leave the territory to search for food for the entire clan. Harroc’s are only allowed to hunt in groups up to 5 to 6 dragons per group so they won’t get disorganized and won’t be targeted as easily if they managed to get ambushed by a hunter or any rogue dragons. These dragons have a different body shape from the rest of the others, they’re a lot thinner and have a long snake like body with blue eyes rather than red, this allows them to weave through dense trees and fly much faster so they can catch prey with little problems. The downside to this is that they’re extremely weak to surprise attacks, which is why they stay in groups like a pack of wolves, it is extremely rare that a group of Harroc’s will be seen split apart from each other, the only time this will be seen is if they’re planning to attack another creature and need to split up to attack from all angles. The Harroc tries very hard not to use any magic when hunting so it relies only on its physical abilities. Out of every Wyvern in the clan, these ones have the smallest wings making it difficult for them to fly great distance with the rest of the clan. They tend to stay on the ground for most of their life from birth up to adulthood.
Irisvar:
This is ranking is very similar to the doctor of the clan, but rather than making potions and herbs or staying within the clan. These Wyverns rely on their magical ability and help the Arytiss in the battle field to make sure they stay healed or help on the offense and use long range attacks to take out the defenses. Irisvar are constantly covered in head to tail in special armor that keeps them from getting harmed as much by other dragons magical attacks. They constantly carry around books filled with runes and spells, they have pouches on the sides of their bodies to hold potions that have been prepared by Motzu, the doctor or the nurse of the clan. The Irisvar has very low physical strength but very high magical abilities. There are are 8 different magical abilities that the Irisvar can learn--Fire, Water, Nature, Ice, Darkness, Light, Blood, and Arcane.
- Fire: A pretty obvious ability, the ability to control fire and manipulate it at will. Wyverns will be allowed to breathe fire, spit out fireballs, and turn swallowed rocks into molten lava. Most Wyverns are born with this ability so it doesn’t take much effort for them to use it.
- Water: Water is the only ability that can’t be used by Wyverns who live on land. This magical ability is meant for the water born species. As stated previously, they can breath out scalding water and create waterspouts in the middle of the ocean to destory any ships that may be getting too close to their home
- Nature: The ability to control plants. This can be used by both species, some of the powers are, creating vines and manipulating them at will, making tornado's, similar to how water can make water spouts, they can control the earth as well and make giant walls of rocks to create a shield or a barrier from other attacks, turning leaves into daggers.
- Ice: Another ability that can only be used by the Wyverns aquatic relative. They can create or shape ice into whatever they wish. Most of the time this magical ability is only used to form weapons, such as swords, shields, daggers, and so on. Other times it can be used to freeze over a large body of water, but that can only be done by a high ranking Irisvar.
- Darkness: The ability to manipulate shadows to their will. This ability can be used to summon minions to fight for the Irisvar. It's the second most powerful element that can be used but it's also the most dangerous since it can cause corruption in the dragons gem and start to destroy them from the inside out.
- Light: This is the complete opposite of darkness, it can be used to cancel out the affects of corruption if a dragon decides to use dark magic, if dark magic is used more than once then light can not do anything to fix the corruption. They can use beams of light to blind other or to heal, this magic is usually not meant for combat rather than to heal or distract for a moment.
- Blood: Blood is similar to Alchemy in a way, it can be used to summon powerful creatures to fight for them. This form of magic is only used when the Irisvar is on the brink of dying and is bleeding very badly.
- Arcane: The strongest form of magic out of all the elements. This magic can only be used by an Irisvar who has studied potions and spells for centuries or the Maekrix. This magic is a mixture of all the other elements and is just as powerful when used at it's full power.
