I didn't see a better place for just posting text about a cultsona idea, so posting here. Admins, please feel free to move the thread if there's a better place.
ANYWAYS
Idea is for a person, intentionally hiding their identity (I have plans for that, not formed enough to reveal anything yet) under some leathery/scaled armor and a cowl. Smith, as they prefer to be called, is a completely non-magical human, no special powers to speak of, but they're a decent blacksmith and crazy skilled at enchanting things via eldritch rune inscriptions. Their voice would be lowish and gruff, with red eyes (just the irises, basically stained by magical exposure), and one time you saw red through a hole in the glove - that's too bright to be blood, right? That has to be fingernail polish ... right?
I was thinking this person would have a loose affiliation with the candle cult, not being properly initiated but their members are frequent customers and relations are friendly overall.
Hrmmmm? Like? Ideas? Comments, criticisms, cackling?

Found the template. I'll keep it updated as the character is developed.
Name: Smith Rank: N/A Original Power: None properly. Skilled blacksmith and rune-enchanter. Power Gained After Joining The Cult: N/A Weaknesses: Well if you take away all their enchanted equipment.... Additional abilities/strengths: N/A Age/How Old You Appear: Intentionally hidden. (roughly upper 30s.) Age You Joined The Cult: N/A, first encountered in upper 20s. Height: 6'2". Or at least, that's what you see. Hard to tell with those boots on. Skin color: Intentionally hidden. (Naturally a moderate white, but constantly ruddy from the forge's heat.) Race: Intentionally hidden. (Slavic White, not that anyone knows.) Weight: 150-200 pounds, plus a ton of leather. Body Type: Bulky for female, moderate to slim for male. Eyes: Red irises, stained by magical exposure. Otherwise typical human. Hair: Intentionally hidden. (Dark brown with the roots turning red for the same reason as the eyes.) Scars: Intentionally hidden. (Nothing on the face, but plenty of marks from blacksmithing mistakes and strange cuts all over their hands and wrists.) Special Physical Attributes: N/A, unless you want to count the red eyes. Clothing: Leather armor from head to toe made of blue scales; creature of origin is [REDACTED]. Cowl and mask hide face except eyes. Armor is heavily runed and Smith has multiple sets, each with a slightly different purpose save the battle set which is quite different from all the others. Physical Description Paragraph: If you were to walk in on Smith while they were working (and the door is usually left open), you would see them hunched over their anvil, hammering something into shape, or else quietly etching in front of the forge with tiny, unseen instruments. You would hear either muttering or chants that don't really seem to be words in any particular language. Even with their back turned, Smith notices you and stands up from their work; for how much time they spend bent over worktables, Smith does stand up awfully straight, not the rigid look of the military but casually confident. And given all the strangeness of Gravity Falls and the Candle Cult, Smith's red eyes would probably go entirely unnoticed were it not for the fact that every other part of their leather outfit, even the mask, is some dark shade of blue. It's quite possible, too, that there's a small hole in one of Smith's gloves, but all you can see beneath is a bright red, as though Smith were wearing bright red gloves underneath their leather gloves. Whether this is your first or fortieth time visiting, Smith greets you with the same blunt, rough "what?". Business is conducted tersely, and Smith does little to indicate that your conversation is over save to return to their work. Likely, it would then occur to you that even after having visited this "Smith" in their own home and spoken with them directly, you really have little to no idea just who this is, or even what they look like. Family: None that they care about. Quirks: Very focused. Conversation is not forthcoming. But Smith is one of those nerds who will go on for hours about something they love, so they usually just don't talk about their craft because they'll get excited and not shut up for ten to twenty minutes and that ends to drive customers away. Goals: Being paid to make things. Interests: Making things. Habits: Making things. Vices (drinking, smoking, yogurt): Sleep deprivation from making things too much. What Does Your Room Look Like: Simple. Tools cover the walls, the furnace always wakes up as soon as Smith gets out of bed. Things that don't have runes anywhere include: The bed, since Smith doesn't know how to make something just straight-up softer; the walls, since the foundry is carved out of the ground rather than built up and therefore doesn't get much more impenetrable; and Smith theirself, as Smith doesn't like having tattoos/scars/markings. Personality: Distant, coarse. Kinda suspicious of those who try to get friendly, doesn't like owing anyone favors. Likes: Making things. Dislikes: Trying to talk while making things. Preferred Food Source: Bread, meat, and disturbingly high amounts of spinach. They'll make you something special in exchange for prune juice. Group Dynamics: Putting this person in a group is ill-advised. Smith won't make waves, but also won't be eager for anything. Friends: Nobody especially close. Regular customer might count. Allies: Loose affiliation with Candle Cult. [REDACTED] relationship with cult's enemies. Enemies: Smith helps out as they can and doesn't piss people off. Enemies don't happen unless something goes very wrong, and Smith is seasoned enough that things almost invariably don't go wrong. Rivals: None ... yet. What Do You Consider Your Position In The Cult: External item supplier. What Do You Do For The Group: Make things. How You Joined The Cult: Didn't. Basically got associated from high business.
Yes, Smith is overly simple right now. As I've said, character is under development.

Alright, here are some pics I took from Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning of what I'm envisioning for Smith's look. The one with Smith facing away from the camera winds up slightly more accurate because BOOB PLATE IS NOT GOOD FOR HIDING IDENTITY but I've never gotten a male character high enough level to take such a pic. The one with Smith facing towards the camera is there expressly to demonstrate the mask. Were Smith ever incited to violence that wasn't spur-of-the-moment (hint: VERY HARD TO DO), Smith would use a massive greatsword for fighting which is covered in impossible amounts of runework. Similarly, Smith's armor has a single rune on each of the scales (whether those scales are cut or from the original create is as yet undetermined), forming some pretty strong reinforcing magic. Note, though, that Smith winds up not overpowered because this isn't a 24/7 thing; it would be easy to ambush Smith in their chambers while making things and wearing a different suit whose enchantments are more attuned to working for hours on end than combat. Another point against Smith is that because each scale bears one rune, an enemy removing a scale could readily break or alter the enchantment - assuming the assailant were successful in removing even one scale. I'm tempted to feel bad for pulling the armor set straight out of this game, but once Tea suggested Smith wear something other than a hooded robe this is the first thing I pictured and the only thing I would change is to make the gloves cover the fingers. So, yeah. Attachments:
