Archimedes was stalking through the lighter parts of the forest on his search of a delicate flower that bloomed only at this time of the year. Since it was a rather small flower he crouched on all four legs to get a close look to the floor. His tail was perfectly still and didn't even touch the ground, but due to small dry stick being scattered everywhere, he wasn't completely silent. But being prey or drawing any attention to himself was not really in the mind of the Gryphon right now. He needed this plant to try out a new potion he just learned the recipe for. Because of that he didn't even hear any suspicious noises of something or someone approaching Archimedes. ______________ eh muse and mun over eighteen, gore yes, free writing style.. The forest was quiet, and so were the demon's steps as he prowled the woods, not even a single birdsong to hear ― as if they felt that there was a predator amongst them. It was almost eery, the numb silence following him at every turn. At some point he had stopped in his tracks, tongue flicking out to taste the air, and sure enough there was the prominent scent of something carnivorous in the air ― A trail he was quick to follow all the way to a small clearing. He had to learn that his view was shielded by a group of large bushes, but that wasn't much of a hindrance ― The demon could hear the shuffle of claws upon ground, and the careless breaking of twigs, he knew pretty well just where his prey was; There was a slope right before him, the other creature a few feet below.
And so it was with more of a drop than a jump that the Reverend landed upon the creature's back, heels grinding into the gryphon's spine. Two sets of sharp talons dug into his flesh, one hand piercing the top of his head and the other one curled around his neck. He was drawing blood with ease, the other's face all but pushed into the dirt.
" ―Hi."

Archimedes let out a screech, when he felt the feet on his spine and the claws on his head and neck. he buckled up against the creature, gladly the fur was very thick around the neck and he manage to get his face out of the dirt and sideways, so he could glance up at the creature attacking him. He was surprised at the nearly human creature. Archimedes never had seen something like this before, but in these woods you always met something new after all. The hood of the gryphon's robe was under the arm of the priest, so he couldn't see the cultsymbol, but Archimedes was able to see the symbol of the redskinned demon, on the sash around his waist."I am a member of the cult!" The gryphon yelped up. "I didn't do something wrong, I just collected herbs!"

"The dinner has no right to back-talk." The demon hissed, coldly, claws sinking further into the creature's flesh. He was fairly surprised to be honest, having expected a lot of things but not this. From the mere sound, or scent for the matter, the Reverend would have expected a panther, or a wolf perhaps; But that was hardly a problem, he could make do. No need to be picky.
And so the demon licked his fangs in anticipation, a hair's breadth away from just going ahead and snapping the other's spine. It was then that he actually bothered to mull the words over ― A cult member, the gryphon had claimed, one of them technically? Now it was with much dismay that the realisation hit him, about how their leader probably wouldn't appreciate someone just killing off her minions, perhaps getting ahead of plans. Oh, what a waste of a perfectly fine catch!
" ...Cult member. Looks like it's your lucky day, bastard." The priest sneered in the end, certainly reluctant in the way he let go now, a few feet of distance brought between them. "Ugh."

The gryphon, glad to be able to breath again without having claws around his neck and a whole priest on his spine, got up on his hindlegs, using his claws as hands to get twigs and leaves out of his robe which stuck there since he was pushed on the ground.
The gryphon then looked at the priest, blue flaming eyes glaring angrily at him. "I don't even know you. Who are you? You are new, right?" Archimedes growled before putting the hood back on so that his face was hidden again."You know we wear those robes so we don't attack each other?" He wasn't sure what to make about the redskinned man.

"None of your concern." He scoffed, brushing non-existent dirt off his clothes out of sheer annoyance. The demon briefly considered making a quick dinner out of the larger male anyway, even if just for the sake of not having to deal with him. No one would ever find out if he buried the remains, now would they? But, frankly, without the previous element of surprise he was at clear disadvantage now. "Not like I could see you ― your fault if you go about on all fours reeking like prey to all extents. Be glad I'm not hungry enough to risk angering the leader."
There was adequate distance between them, and the Reverend's posture was straight as a rod. With his height, he was not exactly used to being the shorter person for once, especially not by such a vast difference ― It peeved him, truth be told.

Archimedes didn't like how the other man talked to him and his posture channeled his inner animal to show the other creature that he is higher up in rank, because he was probably stronger in body and muscle-mass. the Gryphon shook his head and repeated the mantra he had used so often before in his thoughts./You control the beast, the beast does not control you./
"I am not reeking of prey, I'm not a god damn doe!" he exclaimed while his ears fluffed up in anger and his liontail started to wave and twitch around. "I was also on all four to smell and see better for the flower I search. You should maybe try and look before you attack." It wasn't Archimedes fault after all, at least not in the mindset of the Gryphon.

In response, the Reverend looked the other up and down once, making a small scoffing noise. "Well, you sure are defensive like one." He then pointed out, a sharp edge to his tone, greatly annoyed by this creature if he were to be honest. A doe, where had the gryphon even gotten that image? His nose wasn't that dull, if anything, he had mistaken the other for some sort of big cat ― a panther perhaps. Prey just as well, he dare say, provided it doesn't get the chance to bite back.
Rev eventually told himself that this was more than just a little pointless of a conversation, more to calm himself than anything, and proceeded to uncross his arms again. There was a small sigh ― "Now, if you would excuse me, I'm starving." And with that the demon tapped one of his horns in a mock-salute, intending on leaving. He was painfully aware that he would have to walk quite some distance to find prey not scared away by this unfortunate interruption. As if he didn't have anything better to do.

"Good luck, i you go west, until a big and old oak tree, then go east deeper into the younger trees growing there, that is where the deer are normally around this time of the day." replied Archimedes, feathers blustered up around his chest, checking how deep the wounds where there.
He didn't even look at the priest while talking to him. He didn't see why he should be as rude as the other man was. That was just not his style. "I wish good luck on your hunt. If you excuse me, I have also stuff to do." With that the Gryphon went back on all four.

The Reverend knew the woods well enough to know where to find prey, he called parts of it his own grounds anyhow, but a genuine helping nudge could never hurt, he supposed. So he rather not commented on it with more than a small ‘thank you’, lest he couldn’t keep himself from turning it into a quip again.
“ …How about you come along? Two sets of teeth grab better than one, and we can share in the end.” The demon eventually offered, after a small pause of thought, along with half a lopsided grin. He had meant to leave, sure, but there really wasn’t any dubious intent behind this sudden change in mind, for he simply figured he could just as well make things a little easier if the first try obviously hadn’t worked out in his favour. "Can never hurt to have a hunting partner, some nice and easy hounding."
