Between Neve and Grim Are we both of legal age? I know I'm not. No smut, maybe some gore, I don't know, I'm fine with cursing. I'll be in the novella/literate style for this <3 Please, Grim, converse more with me on this if you wish
Oh to dwell in the sky, it was a wonderful thing. Up among the clouds, nothing was the matter, and secrets did not exist. Down on the earth, that strange, in between place, it was confusing. There they were silent, keeping to themselves. Clusters of life, scattered about, like dust that breathed and pulsed. Creatures of every colour and shape, on the ground and mingling. It was a mysterious thing that brought a smile to the face of their observer. So... so many memories being made. The observer snapped their fingers and began dropping to the ground. It was a funny thing to look at, the humanoid body, arms outstretched, and attached to the skirt-like body of a jellyfish. Before hitting the earth, they once more snapped their fingers, stopping dead. Dark green cloak settling, they quickly pulled back their hood, showing one large eye, which burned furiously. Looking around, they smiled slightly. Neve had landed apart from the others, and hoped for a bit of time to themselves... hoped.

((I am 18, which is the most legal of all ages in DK... actually no, there might be some driver's licenses I can't take yet, but otherwise I a good. But ya, no smut, I am not a smut person... and honestly niether is my sona. I really like gore though, but I have no idea about when gore is too much? There is never too much.))
It was a rather pretty night supposedly, at least it was clear from the usual saturated glare of souls. It was not like Grim could really see the sky or appricate what it looked like, honestly they could hardly remember it. Most people would probably have been saddened by the loss at one of Earth’s few redeeming features. But honestly it was not like Grim cared, the sky was not important in the long run, now the stars had a bit more potential, but even those were held no greater meaning. What they could see instead, that was useful, even when it was a migraine inducing mess. Now, how does a headless being even get a headache? Honestly Grim had no idea, but apparently it is a thing that happens. Which is why Grim ended up mostly alone hiding out in the darkness.
Now, they were not exactly alone, but the two crows that were keeping them company were not screeching against their senses like humans so often were. If they were to be described with the average set of senses, their Presence looked vaguely like a silky sheen of black and blue, and tasting somewhat of ash and petroleum. In fact, they were hardly distinguishable from Grim themselves, having been in the pseudo-spirit's service that long left its marks. They were the original two, the ones who had agreed to be Grim’s eyes and ears. Dolus and Veritas was what Grim had named them, out of all the crows that had eventually joined them, only Dolus and Veritas had been named. It might be because they were smarter than the rest, it would not surprise Grim the slightest if they started talking one day.
The pair was currently seated on their shoulders, black claws digging into the fabric of the grey short-sleeved shirt Grim was wearing. The usual poncho had been left somewhere, and Grim couldn’t really be arsed to find it, so it had been deemed not important, maybe later when Grim had more energy to spare they would go look for it. Without the poncho the amulets worn by Grim were easily visible, five different ones, each with their own purpose. Of course Grim had not made them themselves, magic would not work for them. No they were gifts, family gifts, and made from their favourite material; the bones of supernatural creatures.
Despite the headache that lead Grim too seek out solitude they had grown bored within minutes, but instead of bleeding back into the odd bubble that was their own, Grim had sullenly stayed in the physical plane. Perhaps not the cleverest of ideas, but they did not want to leave quite yet, time was weird in the Fracture and it was not always they could predict the exact time they would be back, that required highly sophisticated doorways, and most of Grim’s extra anchors were old and weak.
So instead of doing the smart thing they were fiddling with the bones of what they had long since identified as a great horned owl, strings of dried flesh clung stubbornly to the otherwise perfect remains.
Dolus, sitting on Grim’s right shoulder, suddenly gave a clear silky chime of confusion. Spreading like silvery spider web through the air, Grim took a second to watch before asking for a clarification. Their hands stopping the delicate dance they had been playing across the skeleton. Dolus snapped in irritation at its weakened master, digging its beak into the flesh of Grim’s neck. They hissed a warning at the creature, such an insolent bird.
Both crows were uneasy now, sending a rippling of sensation of warning that Grim felt mostly as heat and pinpricks. If it had a taste it would be like copper and electricity. Something was watching, something was close. They were really having an off day if the crows noticed before them.

Gore is always alright, especially with rivals~
The stars glittered so far above and the toothless creature stared up, large smile showing off their lack of teeth. Their long stingers lazily writhed underneath their gown, entangling themselves and detangling themselves at will. Neve smoothed their hands over their hips, which gracefully blended into their jellyfish "tail". Some referred to them as a jellytaur, which greatly amused them. To be compared to a centaur... While horses were alright, it was cute that those in the cult seemed to forget about mermaids. Ah well, they don't dwell in water, it must be easy to think more of land creatures when on land.
Floating along was quite calming. Nights were quiet and peaceful, allowing thoughts to flow like water in a stream. Neve closed their eye and reopened it. Upon reopening, a gentle blue flame was flickering around their eye. Smile still on their face, they glanced about, choosing to go in the direction which held the fewest signs of life. Avoidance could be counted as a talent, in their opinion. It was a nice one, honestly, it could keep them out of trouble. So often they found themselves lingering on the brink of losing their life. Or worse, their other arm. The thought was quite sad.
Quite suddenly, Neve found themselves approaching an area which held a slightly familiar trace. Possibly from a member of the cult, they were always a bit obvious. The creature moved their arms as if they were swimming, and flew higher, until they could approach from a good height. Scooting closer, their eye narrowed to observe whoever it was.
Ah.. yes, indeed someone they had seen around during their stalkings, but... well, they couldn't recall speaking to them.
There were two crows.. the jelly smirked. Crows were always good to keep around. Intelligent little things. It appeared the trio was not quite random, they all seemed to know each other. The one- the one they recognized- was inspecting something.
Neve was oh so tempted to reveal themself just to get a closer look but they held back. They even jumped when one of the crows made a noise. Not understanding, the creature backed away a bit, trying to hide in the shadows. This stranger was not particularly terrifying to them, but still. Might as well try to seem humble.

(( Okay so, sorry for the wait!
What is tenses? ))
Grim picked up the other’s Presence slightly before they settled, near enough that Grim knows they are being observed. Well, they will respond in kind. With no regard for invisible boundaries they reached out with a mental finger, curiously they ran a thread of their awareness against the observer's. They might feel it, they might not, but Grim doesn’t care either way. They can’t be kept out, not really, because they are not exactly intruding. More like staring through windows from the pavement, looking into the garden, running a hand across the fence. Grim can’t enter any residence without permission, and the mind is a residence like any other.
They picked out a faint trace of something odd and cold, not quite sure what it was because it was already fading when they found it. It was also pretty easy to pick around the part that told Grim that this was no mere human, not that a human would ever have been able to sneak up at them in the first place, not even with the ‘headache’. Humans have a rather dull Presence compared to most other things, sometimes even duller than those of animals. Grim often wonders how they even got this far without devouring each other down to their cores.
The Presence of the other is somewhat familiar though… intrigued they swirled their head around in the being’s direction, disregarding what a real head should and should not do, being on backwards is usually harmful if not deadly to most creatures. But there is no spine connecting the borrowed skull to Grim’s neck, they are no longer bound by the rules of mortals. Grim did not really need to more their head, they can see all around, their field of vision only vaguely detached to their shell, sometimes they forget exactly which way their body is turned. But it was an old habit to point their head at whoever they are addressing, and Grim has felt no great need to break it.
The crows’ whispered and flickered on their shoulders, wary and curious at the same time. Grim did not pay them any mind, despite having come out here to be alone. It is not like the stupid birds could help it. Dolus laughed at them, Grim could tell, its Presence swirled pleasantly in their view.
Veritas squeezed their shoulder once before taking off as silently as a crow can, it blended in with the night completely, if not for the coldly glowing eyes. It went to scout out the other, to give Grim a warning if the observer might be a threat. You never know.
But the only thing Veritas shined at them as they circled was vague amusement, these crows really were getting too cheeky.
“We see you hiding there” they whispered into the dark, not caring to sit in silence any more, their voice creeping towards the insidious, “we sense you there”.
The odd not-quite-soulness of the cultmembers had become startlingly familiar to Grim, they were getting better at picking out individuals. Better at guessing their intentions. Sometimes Grim was certain they could taste what had them here in the first place, whether it be abandonment, desperation, curiosity or greed. For Grim it was greed, that much they were sure about at least, avarice would always be their downfall.
Greed was many things, humans understanding of it was so limited. Grim craved power most of all, even now. Perhaps the core of them can’t really be removed, their mutated flesh will remember the sensation, even if the mind does not.
“Well don’t just stand there!” Grim hissed, their voice light, “it is rather rude is it not? It is not like you need an invitation.”
The last bit is uttered with more bitterness than Grim had intended. Greed did not take well to having things taken from it, they still felt the hollow hunger of what had been. Even know with their soul mostly torn and lost, not by one, but two forces. Grim wonders briefly if it was worth the added sense of clouded yearning. Perhaps, sometimes you have to be stripped of power to make ready for more.
Grim’s fingers curled by their knees, the eye flaring to light above their borrowed forehead. They remember that people usually direct their attention towards it, mistakenly believing that Grim looks through it.

It's fine. Ahahaaaa nobody knows, man
This other thing that they stared at, it was a member of the cult, that was quite obvious. The amphibious monstrosity waved a hand downward as to put on their robes. Long green and white clothes shimmered over them, skirts reaching to the ground. It was not an attempt to intimidate, but meeting others without the proper attire felt wrong. Sometimes they remained bound to human customs, as idiotic as it was. From how it appeared this other being was blind and likely would not care if they were robed or not. All the while, it felt right. Stupid...
An odd feeling tickled the edge of their mind... it came from that creature, that much was obvious... the half jellyfish shook it off.
When the thing turned it's head to face Neve, their mouth split into a wide smile, saliva dripping from their toothless gums. It was like it was an owl- a blind owl with the body of a man. How absolutely charming.
One of the crows that stayed with the stranger detached itself from it's shoulder and came flying upwards. Sticking out their tongue, the tall creature laughed slightly. Glowing eyes, now that was something they liked. Their own burning flame came to rest on their slick cornea, and they enjoyed seeing other critters with lit orbs.
A voice broke through their consciousness, ripping Neve's attention from the bird to their cultmate. This thing was addressing them, quietly. Almost inaudible. It made them strain their ears to hear it, but then they stopped. As if the thing was thinking. Such a curious thing, what went on in other's minds. The thought of hypnotizing this thing came to their own mind but they shook their head.
Not yet.
The voice came again, much louder, more demanding. Rude. Single eye rolling, they sighed. Might as well show themselves, it really did not matter since they'd been caught.
Neve rushed out from the darkness into a small pool of light, pulling their robes so they flung forward. The ends of their dress circled about the other, landing on the ground in a cloud of dust. A bit too dramatic, but it honestly didn't matter. How they showed themselves was their business and it was always fun to do. They reached up, pulling their braid out from the folds of fabric that held it captive, and twirled it between their long fingers. Moonlight reflected off of their visible skin, making it look like polished metal. Always so annoying that they had lost their other arm. Then they could do a bit more with the one..... anyways, the arm they did still possess stopped twirling and waved slowly at this other thing. Touching it just yet seemed far too intimate..
"Hello there, kid," they muttered in hushed tones. "You imply I am rude, when you are the one who did not ask politely to see me.." Blinking, they then snorted. "Or have me come closer, at the very least, from what I see..."
Slightly leaning closer, their large eye stared, unblinking, at the bonehead.
"What might you be?" The creature asked. Curiosity was indeed flurrying about their conscious, since this thing was quite interesting to look at. "A bad imitation of the headless horseman?"
The joke was bad but they still found themselves hilarious, throwing their head back with laughter. Neve straightened up, glancing at the crows. Hm... those birds looked so intelligent.
"And who are your little friends?"
Little friends, little slaves, they couldn't tell....
