Flame was going out on patrol today inside the cult's stronghold. By this point in time it was one of her smaller jobs to routinely check around for anyone who might have by some miracle (or rather tragedy) slipped into the place. One of the perks certainly was that she could meet more of the cult members, or as the others liked to call them "snackrifices." The name eventually grew on her, but the treatment the underlings got in this hierarchy still irked her. She hadn't met many of them so far. Hopefully she could make a few friends with them.
As Flame roamed the familiar halls she stopped when she noticed one of the several that she had not gone down before, her curiosity piqued. She knew most of the building, but not all of it, the place was too huge to memorize in one sweep. She weighed the option, go with what she knew, or go explore whatever danger this way may bring. Well, she was always up for excitement.
She tried to memorize the route she was going as well as possible in case she needed to backtrack. Walking through the candle lit halls she didn't find anything noticeable, but she could feel the temperature drop a little. And soon she was becoming confused over which way she came from. The halls had a tendency to look the same when it wasn't close to anyone's specific quarters. All the better against intruders but a headache for her.
By the time she found another member she had gotten lost. Not that it terribly worried Flame, she'd find her way back eventually. The squeaking of wheels caught her ears first, coming from another hall, and she paused. Maybe I can ask them for directions. The votive increased their pace to catch up with the sounds of wheels, and she turned the hall to find someone in a dark hooded cloak moving down the hallway in a wheelchair.
Flame observed the individual from afar for a moment, contemplating how to greet them. Of course, the general hello was always a good way to go. Flame decided to skip quickly across the hall, chains clanking with each step, and said in a soft but high voice "Hi!"

Tasked with delivering a packet of fresh Candles and grabbing another one for downstairs, Serena had been on her way to the upper floor. She had been given directions in the same way she had obtained her task - trough a note of paper on top of the package that was now resting safely in a compartment under her seat. She wasn't particularly fond of being send around, but seeing as there was not much more to do and that she had never been to this candle shop, she wasn't to bummed about the job either. So she had crawled out of her little pool, lifted herself up into her chair and tightly wrapped the red blanket around her lower body before leaving her small chamber.
The halls had been quiet as usual when she wheeled down the empty corridors - that was, until a figure approached her all of a sudden, startling her a bit which made her emit a small shock wave that traveled trough her body. With wide eyes she looked a the new member, a hand clutched tight in her robe. Then she realized that the person before her didn't look threatening at all. Calming down a little she managed a small "hi" back and then, feeling even braver "Can I...help you?" Her voice was soft and quiet, even shy, with an odd accent and strangely...luring, although this didn't seem to be Serenas goal at all. Peeking out under her hood carefully she observed the figure before her. The other one wasn't tall, but she wore a rather fancy robe, and as Serena looked closer she noticed that the eyes on it were open. The ones that had been on her robe were closed, and she briefly wondered if that meant that this person was a higher up or if that was a simple choice of design.

The startled look the other made Flame grow a wide smile. Startled people were always amusing. She immediately noticed the other's incredibly ghost pale face that stuck out sharply against her dark robe and the thick glasses. Looked like an introvert. Her eyes looked down at the red blanket, and she suspected there was something fishy about that. Her voice was shy and soft, and Flame could hear a very peculiar quality about it. What had gotten her into the cult? Flame was surprised, she didn't think she'd see anyone like this here. Of course, it could just be a ruse.
"Yeah, do you happen to know the way around here?" she asked.

"I...uh, depends on where you want to go." Serena answered after a short hesitation. "I'm quite new...I'm supposed to bring a package of candles up into a shop. I got directions on that way." She also knew how to get to a few other places, because of course she had been exploring around the long halls of this underground facility, but she hadn't come all too far. To empathize her point on the candle delivery she lifted her blanked just a bit so that the other one was able to look under her seat and sea the brown box that rested in a small compartment of the chair. "If you want to go into that direction I can help you." She added carefully, not quite sure of herself. She wished she could be underwater right now.

Flame's mood perked up when she mentioned the shop. The girl bent on her knees to look at the hidden compartment under her chair momentarily. Certainly a nifty addition.
"Well I know where the shop is!" she replied with her hands on her waist confidently, although she didn't know HOW to get there from here.
"Buuuut I don't really know here too well. So, you lead on." the blue cloaked figure said curtly and got out of her way.
If she got directions that should be well, she'd recognize her way eventually and lead the rest of the way there. And as the minutes rolled by walking down the dim halls with only the sound of footsteps and the creaking of the wheelchair Flame found the silence grow more and more uncomfortable to her. She just had to talk or say something. Make an effort to get to know the person, at least a little. She wanted more friends here with the weaker members, at least some people that could be useful to her. She wanted some support. Flame couldn't honestly come up with a reason why she felt she had to have it, but it was a concern on her mind and one thing she didn't like was not taking advantage of opportunities.
Flame tried to glance subtly, her dark eyes flickering ahead and at the mysterious girl from behind her mask and hood. Eventually she got enough nerve to break the ice. "So, you're new right? How long you been here? Got any powers? Why'd you join? Likes? Dislikes?" the girl sent a barrage of questions, not intending her to really answer all of them.

Doing what the other person asked her to do Serena wheeled into the direction she was given. She would have liked to talked to the person behind her, it was one of the few members of the cult she had gotten in contact with. But it was hard. She didn't know where to begin, or with what. Making friends didn't come natural to er, because normally she ate the people who 'liked' her. Or, she had done that before getting into the cult. Also, she really still felt out of place if she wasn't able to be in the water. Which she was currently not. So when the other started to ramble, she felt relived and straddled at the same time.
Looking back cautiously Serena hesitated again for a moment, thinking about what to answer and how much to tell, until she finally decided that honesty could do her no harm in this case. "Yes, only...uhm, joined a few weeks ago. I don't know how or why. But I heard that's common. And yes, I got a few powers." She didn't go into details on the powers she had though. "And I like...well, I like reading a lot. I ..uh discovered that. Gives you something to do. Where I come from we didn't have books. We didn't have shelf's either though. I don't like them. Their...to high up." She gestured shyly to her lower body half.
"Can I...can I ask you a few questions in return, maybe?" She asked, waiting for the other one to give the ok to that, as she didn't want to do anything wrong.

Flame listened to her answer intensively, no shelves and books at all? Flame thought that was peculiar, and the curiosity of what this snackrifice was grew. It probably had something to do with the wheelchair, and probably the clothes, but it'd be rude to ask her why. For the moment at least. She smirked, well, there were a few reasons she could guess why the girl didn't know. Flame briefly wondered just how little or much she knew about the cult, before she got asked if she could answer a few questions.
"Sure, ask me. But I can't promise I'll give you an answer." she smiled.

Serena smiled a bit and nodded. She had already understood that secrecy was a huge thing in this cult and she suspected there where more reasons too it then anyone would dare to ask. But as for now she deemed her questions quite harmless. "What is your name?" She asked quietly "and...are you human? You look quite so...but.." she didn't know how to properly say 'a'appearances seem to be quite deciving in this cult' in a manner that wouldn't't be rude. That she had been blunt already in asking her new aquaintances about her species went right past her.

Of course. She hadn't given her name.
"You can call me Flame." she said warmly.
She snorted in an amused look when she was asked if she was human. "Yeah, I'm a human. But I'm also a bit more." she answered, leaving off any explanation.
She'd love to make her guess, but she'd rather not let anyone else know.
"What's your name? Sorry, I forgot to ask. Also, did you have to learn to read? Since you don't have books where you come from. If you're willing to tell me." the young woman asked, pacing herself to walk almost next to her.
She still didn't recognize where they were, but hopefully she'd notice something soon. She hoped this map was actually beneficial.

Looking up shyly again as Flame strolled next to her Serena continued her way with her new acquaintance. A bit more? That puzzled her a bit and she was inclined to ask, but she hesitated and then Flame asked her for her name and about books and she answered quietly "My name is Serena. Or...well...as I said I don't remember much." She repeated "I know in my own tongue I have a name that is nothing like the one I wear now and that I doubt anyone else can pronounce. I know that I couldn't read nor was able to speak in a language that sounded remotely like this. All I know is that I belong to the candle cult and that my name for everyone else is Serena." She looked down at her knees - or where they should be - briefly. "I don't mind asking. There is not much to hide for me except for the things I don't know about. And it's...nice...talking to someone." She smiled up carefully "It gets lonely down here...and I...don't know many people yet."

"Elegant name. No doubt I'm sure it reflects something of your real one." Flame complimented.
Flame listened to her tale of how she got into the cult, and she nodded her head. Well, of course she wouldn't remember. Thankfully someone must have given her the ability to speak with them. Flame started to speculate she was a mermaid, or something like one. She couldn't think of too many magical creatures without legs to move on. She obviously wasn't a ghost. And her voice was curious. She could also be a gorgon, or a naga. But they could slither on the ground. Or maybe, the less favorable truth was she just couldn't use her legs.
Flame briefly stared into her eyes at the last comment, getting a nice feeling off of her, then looked ahead of herself again. She looked friendly enough, that's for sure. A bit shy. But it was good she was looking at her like she could potentially be a friend. Flame certainly wanted to make a few of them here. However she was still a little wary. She'd decide by the end of this.
"Well, it's certainly nice to chat with you. I'm sure you'll have a few friends. Are we going the right way?" Flame changed the subject.
They'd had passed many of the halls by now. She had to make sure she knew where she was going. She was more tempted to just look at the map herself, something she should have done.

"Thank you." Serena answered with a tiny smile "But I..uh, I fear it does not reflect anything of my real name." She added. She didn't explain what it reflected then. Flame was a human - and a bit more. But the main statement was that she was a human, and although a very nice one, she was not about to tell her what she was just yet - would she have not been a cult member, Serena might have shown her. But well, Flame wouldn't have been around to tell anyone after then. Quit in thought Serena looked up startled when Flame asked her if they were still on the right path. Looking quickly at the map she frowned, then looked around. "I...I think we should be?" She answered. She couldn't remember having taken the wrong part, but she had been a bit absent minded, so it was possible she missed a turn, and it worried her. "Do you want to have a look?" She asked a bit unsure.

Flame said nothing about her error that her name held little to do with her real one.
"Sure!" the other member took the map out of her hands in a quick motion.
Well, it certainly didn't seem like it was a prank on the artists part. As far as she could tell, it was pretty accurate. While she could recognize most of the map, she still couldn't say if they were on the right path or not, if only because they had no way of knowing just where they were.
Flame wished the cult had maps showing where they were around the place, but there were several reasons to why that wasn't the smartest option. One she had to agree it was better to leave out.
"Can't really tell much, since I need an indication of where we are. We might have missed a turn....." the human frowned in thought.
As she looked around she faintly remembered passing by this hall a few times. Someone said it was dangerous to go further because they had a few traps scattered about. But it wasn't anything dangerous, at least, they waved that part off. Flame considered going back, but then they'd really have to find their way around for awhile. And she'd rather not spend the effort. She decided she'd just act none the wiser, and deal with it when it happened. It wasn't like she couldn't protect the weaker member, it wasn't even debatable she couldn't.
"Let's keep going straight, I'm sure were close till I know where were we are." she handed the map back, still looking ahead.
"In the meantime, what do you plan to do in the cult?" she decided it was good to waste time asking questions again.

Shrugging helplessly Serena accepted her fate of just following the other member. She felt a bit guilty about not keeping track although she had the map "I'm sorry" She muttered a tat embarrassed about her failure. "I hope this is not...too..bad." Starring at her 'knees' guiltily she wheeled on, looking up as Flame proposed that they would just walk straight ahead. "Alright." she said with a tiny nod. She had expected that they'd make their way in silence now, but the other one obviously found that it was a good moment to fill the silence with busing question. Serena shifted uncomfortably in her chair. Not because she didn't want to talk...more because she didn't really had an answer to that question. "I...nothing really. I still don't know what I...could do. So I mostly...help out if I can. Like bringing the Candles up." and, after a short hesitation "Would you maybe now what i ...well...could do?"

Flame huffed at the member's embarrassment over her failure of keeping track. It wasn't that bad. She was new after all, and this place was too big.
Serena's question made Flame think over any places that needed more help, or what she thought she could do.
"Bringing candles up seems good for now. I can't say what you'd be good for, since I don't know what you can do, but your eagerness is good. Someone else should tell you if they need anything more from you, but until then.....learn things at a distance. And be wary of the higher ups. I heard one of you got burned from the leader." the young woman warned.
Of course she was sure their reputation was already well known among the snackrifices.
Flame narrowed her eyes as they went past another cross section, whatever trap was around would spring out soon. She held back any further questions she had, they could wait after. The hall didn't look any different, but that was the point. Her carefree attitude and movement hid the diligent eyes looking around the hall. It'd be a fun exercise whatever it was.
