The Bakery on the Corner of Wilson and 3rd [OP.RP]

    Within the red, brick walls of the bakery, the setting sun shone in through the large windows which faced the street. The dying rays of light cast its orange glow on the tables and the glass which showed the displays of various sweet treats. Cakes, cookies, donuts and tarts, all freshly baked the morning prior, sat idly behind said glass, filling the cozy bakery on the corner of Wilson Boulevard and 3rd Street with a palatable smell. It was here, the bakery just down the road from a very peculiar candle shop (to which she used the term 'down the road' lightly) the cheery girl by the name of Evelyn Leigh bustled around behind the counter. The flames which lit the two candles protruding from her head flickered merrily with a healthy bluish-green glow. With the ever present smile upon her lips, albeit a bit perturbing, Evelyn hummed a tune while restocking the chocolate chip cookies on the bottom shelf.
    The bakery was cast into a stillness aside from her; no seats were filled, and it seemed the few employees who dared work in proximity with such a 'monstrosity' had left for the day. Ah yes, Evelyn worked the last shift of the day where few costumers bothered to purchase sweets from the old shop. Perhaps it was because they already knew of her work hours? She had been working at this bakery for quite some time. Yet, she still smiled! No, she wouldn't let the mood sink whether she was purposely being avoided by coincidence or otherwise. It wasn't like she cared for humans in the first place. In fact, it was quite the opposite: she was appauled by them. Disgusted, repulsed, revolted, and utterly nauseated! But she wouldn't complain.
    'Why do you bother to restock these stupid cookies, Evie? It's not like anyone's coming! You know that.' Sounded Ralphie's voice within her mind. Blinking her vacant eyes, Evelyn tilted her head to the side before looking out of the windows of the bakery. Outside on the streets, there wasn't a single soul out for a walk, and maybe a few cars had passed by in the last hour.
    "What a silly thing to say Ralphie! You never know, and besides, those cookies were low on count." She replied optimistically. It was indeed a terrible habit of responding to the sentient eye on her stomach outloud as it made her look a bit crazy. But why respond to him back telepathically? That would make her feel as if she didn't get her point across good enough, "Surely, someone might come today- and what if they wanted a chocolate chip cookie? I wouldn't give them a small, crumbly one. " She continued on, knowing that Ralphie was most likely rolling his eye at the moment. She could practically feel him doing the mentioned action.
    'Yeah yeah, whatever you say Evie.' Ralphie muttered.
    Evelyn's grin became bigger if it was even possible as she knew she'd won that argument. Brushing her hands off on her white, 'uniform issued' apron, the lonesome candle demon hopped up onto the counter, crossing one leg over the other. Pulling out her phone from her handy skirt pocket, she immediately checked her inbox. Nothing, as per usual. Even though she knew no one would have contacted her, she liked to imagine it would happen soon. After her personal ritual of checking for any possible messages, Evelyn Leigh began to read the online novel she started the other day, completely absorbing herself into the small text. However, her ears were always tuned into the small bell above the entrance, hoping she might receive one costumer before she closed shop in a half hour-- before the real fun began.
