Cirrus stared intensely at the test tubes, painstakingly pouring just one drop from one to the other. Finishing this, they stood briskly up and glanced at the person behind them. "I think that this is finished. It'll ... I'm not really sure what it will do, but something, I suppose?" They put the tube in a rack on a nearby desk and kneeled down to look inside it.

Ticobell stood behind the cloudy person, pen and paper in his hand-er claws. "It is rather odd that the book's instructions don't include the results of this experiment, so it'll be something exceptionally fascinating to record! And thank you for helping me out with this Cirrus." he said while kneeling down to look inside the test tube as well.

Cirrus nodded in reply before standing up and walking over to the open book lying on the desk. They had never actually learned to read but they flicked their eyes over the page anyway, trying to grasp the gist of what was written. "What do we do with it? Do we drink it?"

"It actually says that we have to draw the circle shown here, place some kind of metal object in the center, and then pour the liquid on it" Tico stated while gesturing to the picture shown on the next page in the book. "Apparently the object we use will act as some kind of anchor, but it doesn't say for what. There's just a bunch of random scribbles after it says this, a page of script that looks like cuneiform, and then blank pages."

Grabbing some sort of metal cup from a shelf, Cirrus cleared a space and placed it in the center. "This should do. Do you have anything to draw with, a chalk maybe?" They glanced from the desk, where they had set the cup, to the floor. Perhaps it needed to be bigger than the small space that they had cleared.

"Hmmm, well I have something to make the circle..." Ticobell had obviously not thought this through, but he did have enough sense to bring chalk with him when he was experimenting with magic. He wasn't about to waste time on a wild goose-chase through the cult's halls searching for the powdery drawing utensil. "Although, I don't think there's enough floor space here. Maybe we should shove some more things out of the way?"

"Oh, so it needs to be big." Cirrus confirmed, nodding in agreement. They stacked some furniture, and swept some important-looking science equipment in to a corner. Satified that enough space had been cleared, they moved the metal cup into what was roughly the center of the area.

The red-haired necromancer drew the circle around the object while taking extreme caution to copy the circle exactly. A screwed up circle could mean many things- including an unbelievably painful experience. "There," he breathed, admiring his handiwork. "Now we have to stand in the second innermost ring of the circle and pour the suff onto the metal object. D'you think you could handle that, Cirrus?"

"Yep." Cirrus picked up the liquid, being careful not to spill it, and turned towards the circle that the necromancer had drawn. They stepped towards the second innermost circle one line at a time. Tipping the test tube, they slowly poured the contents onto the metal cup, making sure that it all hit its target. The lines started to glow gently, pulsing with a white light. "Ticobell, are you going to get in the circle or not? Hurry up!"

Ticobell quickly scurried into position before the spell could complete itself, and shortly after he had done so, he and Cirrus were enveloped in a blinding flash of light. When Ticobell opened his eyes, he saw himself suspended in a beam of light that seemed to be pulling him towards a strange planet, and he could only look around in awe. However, when he noticed that Cirrus was nowhere to be seen, he suddenly blacked out. Feeling a burning warmth on his skin, he opened his eyes to see nothing but an endless sea of sand. "Cirrus? Where are you?"

Clenching their teeth and keeping their eyes squeezed shut, Cirrus willed for the uncomfortable sensation to go away. As soon as Ticobell had made it into the circle, they had found themself in some sort of vortex that made Cirrus feel like their every water paricle was being separated and then rejoined simultaneously. Finally it was over, and they were lying on a sandy floor with a blazing hot sun overhead. Unsteadily standing up, Cirrus spotted Ticobell quite a few metres away with his back to them and waved, shouting to him. "Ticobell! Over here!"

Ticobell immediately spun on his heel to face Cirrus. "There you are!" he exclaimed as he began to make his way over the dunes towards the cloud person, his feet clumsily stumbling around in the fickle ever-shifting sand. "Are you alright?" He was gasping for breath at this point. "I think we should try to find a place to get out of the sun. I'm kinda sensitive to it, and I can imagine that it can't be good for someone like you." He scanned the horizon, but due to poor daylight vision, was unable to make out much of anything.

((Sorry that I couldn't reply yesterday, I was at a con.))
"The heat makes no difference to me." Cirrus answered, shrugging. They had another problem on their hands- there was a handful of desert creatures looking thirstily at Cirrus, having evolved to find water whereever they could. "Actually, I agree. Let's go." Lifting off the ground and hovering a couple of metres in the air, they searched the horizon for any break in the vast expanse of sand. They spotted a faint shape and pointed it out to Ticobell, dropping to hover beside him. "I think that there's a city there."

((HOLY FREAKING CRAP. LIKE A BOLT FROM THE BLUE, CAME AN UNWATED HIATUS FOR YOU. I'm so sorry for not replying for near a month without warning. I go to a boarding school, and they have really strict regulations on what we do with the internet there, a.k.a. no forum stuff. I won't be able to reply to anything semi-regularly until the 13th of this month.))
The necromanger noticed the faint outline of what Cirrus was pointing to, but his overly sensitive eyes could barely make anything out in the blinding light. "Cirrus, I think you're gonna have to guide me. That, or we could wait until nightfall, because I can't see anything in this godforsaken desert." He then knelt down and covered his eyes with his left hand. It was kinda heavy, what with being distended and all from the demon living inside of that part of his body, but it did provide more shade for him.

((ahaha that's ok.)) Cirrus shrugged, trying to gauge the distance away that the city was. "It's not that far away, I'm sure that we could get there by nightfall." They were a little concerned that if the necromancer got too thirsty, he might start getting ideas about how to use their water. Deciding by themself what was the best option, they began to float towards the city after briefly turning around to gesture for Ticobell to follow.
