Rayne stared hard at the wall in front of her, face a mix of confusion and disgust. "What the hell'sss it sssupposssed to even mean?" she asked incredulously to Aiden, standing next to her and sharing a similar look. The two glared at the wall, it covered in some unidentifiable and glowing substance that was painted to look like a pair of scissors. "Firssst there wasss all that crap about ssssome candle," she goes on, recalling the odds murmurings of the cultists they'd captured earlier. "And now there'sss ssscissssorsss everywhere?"
"Whatever." Aiden spat stepping closer to get a better look, "No need to get yourself in a twissst over this Rayne. " He called back to the female, mocking her hiss. "Just make the stupid rumor speaking beasts clean it up. It's not like they have anything better to do. "
"It'sssss not whatever idiot. It meansss sssomething if it'sss only popping up after we invaded." Rayne bit back, purposely accentuating her hiss as her pupils narrowed to thin slits before going back to normal. She crossed her arms over her chest, gaze going to the wall once again. "Which 'ssstupid rumor ssspeaking beastsss' becassse we jussst captured a good handful." Huffing the woman reached up to adjust her doctors mask. "They thought following usss wasss a good idea apparently."
Aiden could have laughed at that, at the way the beast's had thought they were safe under that crazy bat's 'protection' , but he didn't laugh, the material coating the wall slowly becoming more of a nuisance as his hairs stood on end. Whatever it was - he didn't like it. " All of them, I don't care just get this off of the walls. " He ignored her snappy of attitude. " I don't care how long or how many it takes. " He warned, turning back to the Basilisk keeper, " Whoever or whatever is putting this up won't last long. "
She raised an eyebrow at him. "Oh? That'sss cruel." Rayne couldn't be as rude to Aiden as she would have liked, his status as a Master automatically making her on edge. As such she bit back the less than pleasant name she wanted to call him and shifted her weight from one foot to another. "Weren't they all accepting of you and trying to get you to rethink your moralsss? And now you're threatening to end them? Cruel, sssssso cruel."
"Shut it wench!" Aiden hissed, he had enough to worry about and Rayne. Wasn't. Helping. The puppeteer threw her an angered scowl, running a tongue over sharp teeth as he thought of their next move, " Just. Get. It. Off. The. Wall. " He twisted again, glaring at the graffiti as if the creator itself could feel his fury, "If it's not done in the time permitted I'll call Liam down here to take a look, ask the beast's if they have any - even if you have to force it - information on this shit!" He grit his teeth turning back to the snake woman, " Got it? "
"Wench. Classssy." her words still dripped venom but not their normal amount. No, she didn't need to push him any further. "Fine. I'll do it." Rayne could practically hear Cy's hiss of approval in the back of her mind. The Basilisk was too bite happy with these monsters. She'd have to reign the behemoth in before going near the beasts. "Anything elssse highnesss?"
Aiden exhaled heavily,
"No." Whoever thought this would spur the beasts into rebellion would be wrong, they would always - At the click of the other's shoes Aiden turned to Rayne. Previous anger gone as he called to her, voice still firm, but not as sharp, " Watch your back. And be careful. "
She paused at the caution he offered her, an eyebrow raising once again. "Dessspite the circumsstancesss, I'm not a sssnake. I can kick down anyone who thinksss they could hurt me." As Rayne turned to leave she called over her shoulder "Give the twins your caution. They're the mossst likely to get hurt."
He smiled at her call, "Right!" she could handle herself, she had proved to be tough and resilient over the years. If anyone could do this job it was Rayne. He sent one last longing glance to the woman. Her form disappearing in the shadows of the puppeteer's headquarters.
It was once the Toy was out of his hearing range that she snorted and muttered "Idiot." at his enthusiasm. Shoving glove covered hands into her coat pockets she began the trek to where they were holding the captured cultists. She had her job now. Go find out what the scissors meant from the stupid beasts that'd been following them.
