Death, death and pain and so much ruin. That is all they were getting from their little spies, who had been left behind when they had run. Harmless little green specs no larger than a thumb nail, resembling spiders and frogs and moths, crawling about the town and the base. They saw almost everything. And everything they witnessed was relayed back to their power source...
Zeltain sat perched on a high branch above the swamp, eyes closed and focusing all their efforts into getting as much information as they could from the bugs that hadn't been stepped on or drowned. For the past couple days this is all they had done, ever since they had fled from the cult base and run into The Candledile.
The wing-like black appendages on their back hissed with static as their anger grew. They couldn't just sit here doing nothing. Not anymore.
They opened their eyes and rolled over, hopping down out of the tree.
Their left hand tapped impatiently against their thigh and the points of their zwings dug marks into the soft earth. They had run out of their medication the day before, but at this point they didn't particularly care. Through their bugs they had seen someone they'd met for barely a minute get bitten in two. They saw betrayal, and they briefly saw the faces and intentions of the humans who had taken over their base. They wanted revenge, they wanted to cut into flesh... They wanted to fight.
"Hey! 'dile, come here for a sec, will ya?"

It had been years since these lands were truly visited. They had been gazed upon before, but never touched with sentient skin. Or in this case, scales. The land was nearly a wasteland, as nature was slowly taking back what had been stolen. The project that first took out the trees and foliage had been abandoned, and it enraged Candledile right down to his tribal bones. He sighed though, having been sitting in this land for a few days now.
Currently sitting on a chopped stump, his small claws rubbed the rings that showed the tree's great age. It was an old tree, a special tree. One used for announcements, and all around it, burial grounds. Every grave was decorated with a special staff, not one the same. They all meant something. But now, most were chopped down and broken, if not gone completely. Scattered feathers, and only a few staffs left standing, closer to the stump. People that Anastacio had seen die, and many that he never met.
A puff of smoke flowed out of his nostrils, twisting into the air before it dissipated. He had done what he needed to do here, mostly. His half closed eyes stared over at a tree, where, to someone unaware, it just seemed eerie. But Anastacio knew what was there. A spirit who never got the chance to leave the plane, because they were slaughtered. He had spoken to many of these spirits, all he knew and remembered. And it hurt. Every word.
Candledile was dropped out of his memories when a voice called for him, and his head turned. Ah. The demon. He sighed and dropped off of the stump, and waddled towards the voice.

Zeltain waited impatiently before seeing the crocodile reach their view. They sighed when he was finally close enough for conversation, floating a couple feet off the ground and crossing their legs underneath them.
"There you are! Having fun communing with spirits?" They didn't pause to let the Candledile respond. "Anyways, I wanna split. I've been watching those fuckheads for days through my bugs and I can't deal with it anymore. People are being turned into friggin slaves... People are dying." They paused, grimacing at the memory of one of the battles they had seen.
"I want to go back. I can't just sit here and do nothing anymore."

The crocodile listened, and nodded. He knew what was happening. He knew it all too well. The spirits knew it, too. He had been talking to them for days on end, getting the advice he needed.
[ I have the information I need. We're not splitting, Zeltain.]
[ I want to come with.]
The drama was so real. But in reality, he just needed more room to write sometimes.

Zeltain grinned wide at their scaly friend's response, leaning back and spreading their zwings.
"Fantastic. How soon will you be ready to leave?"
They grit their teeth and the blue glow from their zwings turned green briefly. "Because I want to sink my claws into those damn puppeteers."

[ I have everything I need already.]
[ I'm ready to go when you are.]
Oh, the woes of having such a small whiteboard plague him every day. But nothing else can be carried around as easily, so he must do.

Zeltain planted their feet on the ground and spun around, shifting their zwings into a makeshift staircase, leading up to prime piggy-back ride position.
"Then alllll aboard the venomspell-express! Please keep all scales, tails and teeth inside the ride at all times, and be sure to tip your local spellcasters." They gave a grin back at the little reptile.

He smiled and laughed, which sounded quite like a ke-ke-ke. He barely opened his mouth to do it, just his many other teeth seeing the light of day. He was self conscious of his own mouth, after all.
With that, he quickly climbed up the demon, settling in place on their shoulders. They made sure that their small claws were properly gripped where they wouldn't cause any harm.

Once The Candledile was properly in place, they wrapped their arms around behind their back to boost up the crocodile so their zwings could return to their original shape and slowly boost the pair a couple feet off the ground. Before they got moving the excitement caused a slightly manic laugh to bubble past Zeltain's lips before then gave a dark grin towards the direction of the chaos they'd soon be re-entering.
"Lets go fuck shit up."
And they were off, speeding through the forest and heading out of the pot and into the fire.
