OF MONSTERS AND (ONCE) MEN Characters: Eli P. Siss || Mordant Players: angelirae || Mordant
Eli's Timeline: A (Ignore Me)
The creaking of old wood made it to Eli's attention, waking the man from his decades long slumber. Slowly, the man tried to open his eyes, only to discover that he couldn't, even so he was able to see his surroundings.
He was in a dark forest, well, more of a woods since it wasn't as densely packed as he initially thought. He glanced around his surroundings, only becoming more and more irritated as he realized he couldn't move his head as he had always been able to do. Thankfully, just as he was starting to panic, a light flashed above his head and he slowly grew to full height. That was to say, a much taller height than he was used to.
The man looked down at himself and watched as a soft purple mist seemed to envelope him. The ectoplasm moving to build up a body. That was the first sign that Eli should have picked up, but no. It wasn't until he reached toward his neck to check his pulse that he realized that he wasn't exactly what he remembered himself to be.
His neck, though it was just about as thin as he had remembered it being, was far too long and was wooden. There were four strings that slid elegantly down the front of his throat and he let his hands and eyes wander down. A cello. His cello. That was what seemed to make up his body. Then everything came rushing back to him.
He had given up his soul to--
"Eric!"
That had been almost a year ago and Eli, now fully aware of his surrounding and relatively decent at using his new found powers. Of course he was no master and certainly what he had discovered about himself was certainly not everything. All he knew is that the leaders had lied, or at least had not yet upheld their end of the deal. Hell, he hadn't even seen anyone since he had woken up. As much as he would have liked to demand some answers. He seemed to have been tucked in a deep part of the woods and since then Eli had moved closer and closer to civilization. Or at least where he believed civilization would be.
Even so, he had grown fond of the woods and now he found himself living in a small shack he had found earlier in the year. Well, at least he was living as much as a poltergeist could live.
Eli currently was levitating a few inches off the ground, his violet face facing the broken mirror he had found and taken earlier that month. With the mirror, he now could at least fix himself up properly instead of looking like some kind of slob. Though he didn't exactly wear a shirt. Far too uncomfortable and inconvenient when one had a literal cello for a body (most the time).
Tightening his strings, Eli nodded to himself in the mirror, tossed his hat upon his head and straightened it. With everything else out of the way, the poltergeist made his way to the door and floated out. He really didn't have much to do out in the middle of the woods, but it was better to at least look around and try and find civilization or something than it was to sit and mope inside his 'home' all day. Er...night.
ooc: Sorry that it's so long, but ell me if you need me to add anything to make it easier to reply to!

The night was crisp as Mordant crossed the portal barrier to it. The feel of the grass beneath his feet beckoned him back to a simpler time. The cult had been disturbingly quiet for the past few days, as if something chaotic was brewing and ready to spill over, but Mordant didn't mind. He wasn't even aware of the unease that came with prolonged peace. He was just happy to be.
The wendigo crouched on the ground and gingerly touched the ground, damp with the night's dew. With no disturbances, there was little for him to 'clean up' and he was hungry. His senses told him that food was nearby and the maw on his stomach opened in anticipation of the hunt. He was usually timid about his appearance, but no one would be around his forest, especially this time of night. Despite his isolation, many had crept into the forest, but this time he couldn't detect any of his friends. He would be free to become the monster he was.
Mordant stalked between the trees and found a herd of deer. It had been a long time since he used his mimicry, better not get too rusty.
His maw twitched and his rib-like teeth stretched as he let out a terrified bleat of a deer. One unfortunate doe drew closer out of curiosity and that was its fatal mistake.
Mordant's meal was a gory mess, he usually swallowed his meals whole, but tonight was an exception. He wanted to bathe in his wendigo heritage and remind himself of how far he had come, the tough scar on his palm was proof, and the fact he was mutilating a deer rather than a human was an improvement. He finished his meal and hastily smeared what he could onto the grass. While indulging out here was fine, returning in the state he was in was not an option. There were still friends who didn't think he was a monster. He turned his senses to the stream and glided towards it only to stop when an unfamiliar energy piqued his interest.
This was not one of his friends. Maybe an enemy? His maw nervously flexed at the idea. Mordant took caution as he got closer to the creature, his vision slowly coming into focus on the incorporeal being. A human? No. He bore the blue flame of the cult. A friend? His maw folded closed as he decided to come forth.
"Iss frieend?" He called out, stepping into the open. Mordant realized too late that he had not cleaned himself and was a picture of horror with the blood coating his body.

Eli had been making his rounds when he caught sight of a herd of deer. Not too close that he could actually see any details, just the faint outline of the curious animals. He knew that they looked to be docile creatures, but deep down deer were the wood's badasses.
Once he had seen a mother deer practically dropkick a person when they got too close to its injured young. At least, he thought that was one of his memories. Eli wasn't exactly the best person to talk to about past escapades before his life was renewed in his present form. All he remembered for sure was that he had a debt to pay and needed to save someone. He wondered if the person was alright.
The sight of a doe moving away grabbed his attention, but shrugged it off. He had better things to do than sit around watching the deer. Eli turned around and started floating off when a terrible sound erupted from were the deer were, a few of the herd bounded off into the woods and he made sure to get as far away of the vicious animals as quickly as he could. Thankfully, the cervids darted off in the opposite direction he was going and he settled back down. Even so, he was a little weary of what had made that sound. I hope it's not a bear. I don't think I could take a bear...
As he edged his way closer to the stream, Eli practically jumped when he saw the strange human--was it human?-- covered in blood and gore. The smattering of tawny fur mad Eli registering that it was most likely from one of the deer he had seen earlier.
And then the creature spoke, startling Eli into pressing himself back against a tree. Not exactly the safest of ideas when confronted by an unknown beast.
"U-uhh...Friends? Yes! We are friends, just don't you know...kill me?" he voiced shakily, mentally kicking himself when his mind decided to taunt him. What is dead cannot die again, moron.

Mordant looked down at himself in panic and held up his hands disarmingly.
"Ah! Iss noot whaat looks like! I doon't eaat friends!" He rambled. This only served to terrify the being more and Mordant sheepishly took a few steps back. Desperate to redeem himself he pointed at the cultist as he shuffled towards the stream. "Doon't moove."
He hastily scrubbed himself clean and wasn't surprised to sense the being fleeing in the opposite direction. He was about to dejectedly give up, when he remembered that cultists weren't usually in the forest. His new friend might be lost! Mordant ran between the trees, his soaked robe a hinderance as he followed the trail of the specter.
"Waait! Frieend? Iss yoou lost?" He called out. He easily caught up to him and waved his hand in a greeting. "Yoou need heelp? I heelp yoou."

Eli watched in silence as the other being made for the stream. The perfect time to sneak off... He told himself as he slid around the tree and began to drift away from the creature. He didn't want to startle it into attacking, even though it seemed to be trying to appear docile, Eli wasn't in the particular mood to envision himself being ripped apart if he moved too fast.
Unfortunately that was a terrible idea as Mordant seemed to find him regardless.
Then it spoke again and deciding it was more wise to answer and not piss it off, Eli replied.
"Uh, lost? No, no. I'm not lot, though this is a new part of the forest... Um...Help in what way?" he asked, eyes staring unblinkingly at the creature. His fingers pressed gently to his strings, ready to start plucking for Pizzicato if the need arose.

Mordant stared curiously at the person and thought about what he could help with. If no one gave him any direct orders it would be hard to figure out what to do.He tugged at his shroud in contemplation.
"Yoou iss new?" He asked uncertainly. He put a hand over his chest and did his best to convey a friendly smile. "I iss Moordant."
He quickly thought of more he could add to the introduction as he tried to appear impressive.
"I iss cleeaner. Iss very impoortant job." He nodded. "I iss not new anymoore. Been here..." He tried to count on his fingers then gave up. "Many time. Much time."
He crouched close to the cultist and pointed at him.
"I knoow many thingss, can help friend. Yoou just ask, I heelp."
Mordant was very proud of his speech and stared expectantly at him. After a moment he began to panic. What if this new friend was actually an older member and he just made a fool of himself? I mean, its not like he had met many people. He just assumed--
"Ah! If you iss needing heelp! Yoou have impoortant job too? Iss you new? I doon't want make feel bad!"
Mordant stumbled over his words in his rambling and he just gawked at the person before them waiting for an answer. Gosh he hoped he didn't offend him! What if he gets upset then lets his superior know? Would he get in trouble? Mordant really didn't want to get in trouble after doing so well the past few days.
