A corpse lay on the ground; Well, not as much a corpse as a pile of flesh and blood. Who it used to be would have easily been a mystery, if not for the puppeteer mask abandoned on the ground. Pieces of the puppeteer littered the ground, coating the dirt with a crimson shade. A few feet away from Addi's remains, a bottle rolled to a stop, the candle inside a red stained bottle a bright blue with a light green wick.

The demon had sent his lover away after the two had killed the puppeteer. He was covered in the disgusting humans blood and picked up the bottle. Astrael sighed heavily through his nose and turned from the mangled remains, going off to look for the friend he betrayed under the masters control. He feared she won't dismiss him right away but he knew he had to return the candle to her, knowing of the significance to the girl from stories of his former master.

Back in her cell, Aly was sitting in a corner with her wings splayed out, staring at a wall. The strings were gone, but she was still stuck in her cell. That disgusting human was dead now, she could feel it. She could also feel Astrael coming toward her, filled with apprehension. She sighed and closed her eyes, reaching towards his mind. 'So he really didn't have a choice in any of that,' she thought. It'd take her a while to trust him again, but she didn't really want to blame him for any of it. "So," she said out loud, eyes still closed, as she felt him come within hearing range of her, "are you going to let me out now?"

He flinched at how she spoke without looking at him and opened the cell. "Y-yes, I also came to give you something..." He said hesitantly. "Addison always would talk about what happened before, well, I showed up." He took a step towards her then thought better of approaching her after their last meet. Astrael fiddled with the jarred candle in hi shand nervously then held it out to her. "This candle is something thats important to you, right?"

Aly's eyes flew open at the word 'candle'. She turned sharply towards him, and her eyes welled up with tears when she saw the jar in his hands. Standing up and stepping slowly towards him, she lifted the jar carefully out if his hands and set it floating next to her. "... Thank you," she said to him sincerely. "You know, I know you didn't have a choice in what you did." She added, curling a corner of her mouth up in a small sad smile.

Astrael smiled weakly, he knew that he couldn't undo the damage she suffered because of him. "I'm sorry, I didn't want to... It was for him. I needed to protect him." He said, futily trying to justify has actions. "I really am sorry." He started to back away, feeling guilty and unwelcome.

"I understand," Aly said. "It's good that you have someone to protect." With that, she stepped forward and gave him a small hug with her wings, then shuffled around him to make her way down the hall with what was left of her friend. There had to be a way to bring then back, she was sure of it. She just needed to figure out how...

A couldn't talk. A couldn't move. It couldn't even think clearly. Everything was coming through a heavy filter, and it hurt to concentrate. A-153 felt a dropping sensation. It felt that someone righted it's orientation. And A certainly felt a gentle hugging sensation around it's glass prison.
Prison.
It was imprisoned. It had almost forgotten. Too much information to hold onto. It wanted out. It needed to get out. It needed help.
As Alyxrie walked down the corridor, A's candle sparked with light, only for a moment, before the flame disappeared.

Out of the corner of her eye, Aly thought she saw a flicker. She turned sharply around and looked around, eyes wide. The puppeteers were all gone now, but there was an lingering feeling that made the air thick. It was nerve-wracking. She turned again to stare at the jar floating by her side. Could it be? She walked faster, almost running down the halls to the exit closest to her home. Maybe there'd be some clue where A lived, and the way there from her home will be fastest.

A tried it's best, it really did. But unable to feel anything but the grip on the glass, all it could do was patiently wait, flashing again once every few minutes. It wanted to scream "LET ME OUT", but all it could manage was to blink pitifully. After a few flashes, it drew within itself, going silent. It couldn't waste anymore time. It needed to show her. It needed a way to talk. Communication. Words.
Words?
Not word, it's close.
When did it learn this?
Feels longer than it can even recall. But it'll do.

Aly could feel a fading buzzing from the candle now. It wasn't physically moving besides the occasional heart-stopping flicker, but there was movement. Thoughts. It was faint and flickering like the candle, but Aly could feel it. There were muffled thoughts, like there was something clogging the mind, bit she could hear the faint voice begging to be let out. She grit her teeth as she dashed through the forest, the 'headquarters' of the cult long behind her. Then she stopped, panting, in front of a large warehouse. There was a thin layer of residue on the large for handle, and she shoved it open with a thought.

The building was in disrepair, metal sheets lying scattered across the ground. Light streamed through the empty spaces where the plates should've been, filling the inside with a soft glow. Water rhythmically dripped from the ceiling, making quiet "plip, plap" sounds as it hit the concrete flooring. Broken pieces of machinery decayed randomly throughout the warehouse, and a empty conveyor belt stood on the right side of the structure, gathering dust.
On the left side, however, a lone set of stairs led to a door at the top, white paint peeling and fading. The stairs themselves were no better than the rest of the abandoned facility, railings collapsed onto the steps with vines and grass winding around them. The handle of the door has a bit of green-bluish residue sticking to it. It made sense why A never brought Aly inside, it looked like a scene from The Last of Us.
"Wait out here!" said the floating mass, grinning at Alyxrie. "I wanna show you something!" Aly let out a humorous laugh. "Why can't I go in and wait?" she asked playfully. "Because, because... I said so!" huffed A, opening the warehouse door and flying inside. Aly giggled and sat down in the grass, under the shade of the gigantic factory in front of her. The grass felt nice and soft, and the wind blew gently, causing the blades to ripple back and forth. Then she suddenly had a stuffed animal shoved in her face.
"Ack!" she exclaimed, falling backwards onto the green sea. "What the-" "This is Giraffy!" said a delighted voice, A's gooey head coming into view. "She's been with me for a while." It dropped the stuffed giraffe onto Aly's lap and set itself down in front of her. "Where did you get her?" asked Aly, examining the doll. It was plump, with vacant brown eyes and a bent neck. "What happened to it’s… er...?" "Nina gave her to me! Nina… Nina used to grab her neck to carry her. I guess she did it too many times." A had grinned, but soon frowned, as if recalling something sad.
Aly opened her mouth to ask about Nina, but stopped once she glimpsed A's face. "Here,” she blurted, interrupting A’s thoughts. “I can show you my house if you want, but I have to do laundry today." She mentioned, holding out Giraffy for A. "Yeah, sounds awesome!" A perked, taking back its doll. As A ran back inside to put Giraffy away, she took one last glance at the towering warehouse and wondered what lay inside A didn't want her to see.

The bittersweet scene ran through Aly's mind, and she hesitated outside the door. Should she go in? It seemed like the best idea if she wanted to get her friend back, and her eyes flickered between the sad-looking doorway and the candle, desperately trying to relight itself. It might not be the best idea, but it was the only one she had. Squaring her shoulders, she pulled the door open slowly, poking her head in and glancing around, the flames in her hair flickering excitedly.

It was a near empty room, quiet. Scarred documents littered the ground, stained and torn by the passage of time. Right in the center of the room was a normal table, with one missing leg propped up by a metal pipe. It was dusty, except for the center, which held a single object.
A stuffed giraffe with a crooked neck sat quietly in the center. It looked pitiful, lonely.
In a moment, right beside her, the candle stopped flickering as rapidly, following a rhythm, a beat almost.

She slipped through the doorway and stepped gingerly across the room on her toes, trying to avoid the papers. She didn't stop to look at them too closely, only catching a word here and there; "experiment", "create", other similar words that chilled her to the bone. She danced around the table and find herself standing in a corner, staring down at the giraffe toy. The candle pulsed with faint light on the table, where it had been set down, and Aly sat down in a slightly emptier spot.
" Tell me what to do, A..." She murmured, her underused voice scratchy. "How do I help you?" She blinked forlornly at the candle on the table.
