It paused. Silent for a moment, it resumed a rhythmic flashing, as if to answer her question. No, not as if, it was trying to answer her question.

It paused, once more, and repeated the pattern.

Aly stared intently as the candle flashed. At first glance, it seemed random, but as she watched, she could make out a pattern; morse code? "A...f...f...e...no, err...g...i...r...a...f...f...e...the giraffe toy?" She cried out, eyes widening. "Do... Do I need to... To break it?" She couldn't do that to A, but if she didn't... That'd be worse, wouldn't it? "Are you sure?" She exclaimed, scrambling to stand up and leaned forward onto the desk. "There's really... No other way?" Still looking at the candle, she lifted up the giraffe toy, the neck still dangling limply.

A's candle flickered, before a new pattern emerged.

"Alright, then, if you say so..." She glanced at the candle again, then directed her attention to the stuffed giraffe. Gritting her teeth, she gripped it tighter with her mind, then ripped it apart with a single swift motion. The pieces of the toy were placed gently on the table next to the candle, and she poked at the loose stuffing that hadn't fallen out of the cloth body, curious despite the current predicament.

Inside the body, among the white stuffing was a crumpled ball of paper. If you look closely, you could see a section of torn seams near the tail, answering the question of how it was stuffed inside the toy. Unfolding the sheet of paper procures a photograph that fluttered to the ground, and a clunky little object with a switch. But the sheet of paper looked more important. It was filled with written notes. In the corner of the page was a childish drawing, done in blue crayon. I guess that answered who Nina was.

Aly stared at the page of notes intently, then sank back down onto the floor in defeat. The paper seemed important... How would there be nothing written about revival? She flipped the paper back and forth, and her eyes landed on the strange little object. She adjusted her position on the floor and sat cross legged, with the paper on her lap, and turned the object back and forth. Not having any other ideas, she flipped the switch on the contraption and nearly dropped it when it lit up with a strange violet glow, and nearly dropped it again when she saw the writing on the paper. "Boiling water?" She exclaimed. "That'll be easy!" She stood up abruptly and leaned over the candle, still on the table. "Don't worry, I'll fix you soon," she said with renewed vigor and, setting down the paper and light then snatching up the candle, rushed out the door. The heavy doors swung slowly shut, and the tatters of the giraffe toy were left on the table, forgotten.

A would've breathed a sigh of relief, if it had lungs. Instead, it let it's mind drift, too tired to focus anymore. It fell into a place of fantasy, not that it could tell the difference from reality; it was the same in A's mind. Aly had found the thing that would save it, and it dreamt of sweet skies and friends. It dreamt of Aly and a little girl with a gap in her teeth and her father with rectangular spectacles, playing with A under a calm breeze. It dreamt happily.

Aly ran through the forest back towards her home. Her wings fluttered every so often, but not enough to lift her up into the air. It seemed to take so much longer to get back to her house then it has to get from there to the warehouse. She could feel the thoughts of her friend start to scatter, seeming as if A were dreaming. She didn't know. As soon as she reached her home, she threw open the door and rushed to the kitchen. A pot settled into the stove, and a stream of water flowed from a faucet into it. The candle was floated out of the jar and into the water. Aly settled down on the counter next do the stove, eyeing the setup with apprehension.

As the water reached it's boiling point, a tiny spark danced on the wick. The lack of oxygen was perfect for the candle, and the pressure had no effect on the flame, nor the heat on the wax. The water turned a dark shade, then a darkened greenish shade. And the wick burst into blue flames, licking at the goo around it hungrily.
The pot started to shake violently, and dropped to the floor, rolling a little before being consumed by the small blob. It was tiny, but it moved, acted.
Like a snake, it slid around on the ground, before barreling out of the house. Through the nearest door, window, whatever crack it could find or make, it ran for the outside.
Outside it began consuming anything it could, from pinecones to the grass on the ground, all of the fuel dissolving in its second layer as it slowly gained mass from absorbing everything around it. Soon, A could form an arm, and it paused in it's ravenous consumption. Two white ovals appeared on the goo containing the candle, and a long tongue emerged from behind a set of bluish teeth. It blinked blearily, turning to look around.
"...Aly?" It asked, lifting it's head from the ground. "Aly?" It couldn't see or hear very well, a bit of static ringing in it's head.

Aly, who had scrambled backwards when the pot flipped over and then followed A outside, rushed forward and enveloped her friend in a hug with her wings, ignoring the odd appearance. "I'm here," she said excitedly. "And you're here too!" The static in A's mind was apparent and it ticked at Aly's mind. "How do you feel?"

A felt the feathery wings embrace it, and used it's only hand to grip Aly's back. It missed her so much. "Like that one time someone hit me with a truck." A laughed, shaking it's orb head. It looked down at it's nonexistent body and frowned. "Aw man, and I have no body to boot."
A paused, and blinked, rubbing it's face with it's hand. "Wait, I was trapped by that Puppeteer, right? So, uh, what happened? It all feels like a... a..." A shook it off. "I dunno. Something."

"Like a dream?" Aly laughed too, sounding slightly hysterical. She planted a light kiss on top of A's head like she always did for her siblings when they came back from some tiring adventure, then frowned a bit. She wasn't sure how much she wanted to say about the whole thing, and she remembered the stuffed giraffe toy she had left in the room. She could have and should have stitched the doll back together; it wouldn't have been hard, nor would it have taken much time. "It's alright now," she said slowly, biting her lip. "The Puppeteers were... driven off, and you're back."

"Yeah!" It exclaimed happily. A was stunned by the light peck, it filled it with strange feeling, like something was bursting from inside. It remembers this feeling back with Dad and Nina and everyone else back in its home before. It made it smile, it made things that resembled water trickle at the corner of it's eye.
"They were?" It paused, trying to think... "They were! And you're okay! You got away from him! I knew you were the best! I knew that no good meanie was no match for you! Haha!" A laughs rambunctiously, circling around Aly and rubbing up against her. It didn't even notice her apprehensiveness; perhaps it didn't care. "You're the greatest!"

Aly smiled as A laughed, and nudged her friend with one of her wings. "I can bake some cookies to celebrate," she said in a light tone. The details of what happened could wait. It could wait until the blood smeared on the walls of the hallway in the "headquarters" gets cleaned off. She might even get away with going back to the room and stitching up the toy. That seemed unlikely, though. "What do you think? You want something to eat other than my front yard?" She said jokingly.

A's face lit out like a bunch of Christmas light with the expression of absolute delight. "Would I?!" It exclaimed, practically bouncing up and down in it's excitement, oblivious to the crimson stains inside the Candle Cult, to the damage the Pups inflicted on the cultists, to the things it asked Aly to do. But it suited the blob just fine.
