Conversations for ideas go here. Talk about what you're thinking for cult canon, like religion and how we make a living. World Builders will keep close watch of what you say.

This sort of ties in with @skelelock mission idea but maybe the squads we've got could have a purpose in the cults dealings? I know there's the merchants who'd be really good at getting the cult allies and information, or the giant squad would be good for hit and run missions paired with a stealth style character, as well as escort duty (for what ever reason it would be needed) kind of an expansion on the idea of our cultsonas having roles in the cult, instead of (or as well as) having the duties the muses give their characters maybe we can have official roles from the higher ups?

This might be a late addition, but I was thinking maybe cult members, regardless of ranks (at least for the lower ones), could join into groups? Like, small factions in sections in the cult. Separate by job type, perhaps? Pin people together of similar fucking to increase effectiveness?

I love that the cult has been placed in my home state, but I'm wondering what part of Washington it's in. Mostly, I want to know what side of the Cascade Ranges it's on because that has a significant impact on the climate. Rain shadow effect and all that fun stuff. Additionally, there are a number of islands in the state that could be interesting sites as well. (One of which is apparently named Lummi though I don't think it would make the best location.)

I'm actually really glad someone here lives in Washington! Do you mind giving us details on the climate differences based on the Cascade Ranges? We have been kind of assuming that the mountains would be west of Eventide and Tilä, so the town is sandwiched between cult and mountain. Is that feasible?

With the effects of the Cascades, the first thing that comes to mind is rainfall. I think this map is a good place to start for that. From what I understand of it, Eastern Washington tends to be drier and has more distinct seasons than Western Washington. There's also more agricultural activity over there too. I live in the west so I'd have to do some research to give you a clearer picture. However, I did visit the observatory in Goldendale once and it was a bit odd for me. It was less densely populated than the areas over here I'm used to but there weren't trees like I'm used to. It felt more... open, and where I did see trees it felt like there were more deciduous trees than I usually see over here. This was couple years ago and I may have been looking for some of these things, so I'd say take that with a grain of salt. I think it's also worth mentioning the Olympic Mountains out west on the peninsula. Things blow in from the west so there would still be a rain shadow effect but not to the same degree. I don't see any reason why the town couldn't be between the cult grounds and the mountains, but if it's going to be on the east side of the Cascades it's not going to look how many people from outside of the area probably expect.

So it's a lot drier on the east as opposed to the west? The closer you get to the ocean, the rainier? If it's dry on the east and less forested we may have to with flip sides or put the cult in the mountain range. I don't think these mountains are like the Appalachia though so that might not be feasible at all. Thanks for explaining BTW, it's really helpful.

Not sure about the Cascades compared to the Appalachia, but a lot of the mountains are national parks and forests. I'm glad to help.

Maybe an application of science to the cult world would make it more feasible/understandable? I'm a big advocate of science, personally, but for example the explanation I helped with raganiazumi 's sona Gabriel's eternal life and regeneration with the fact that Gabriel's cells could have an extra chemical formed called Telomerase reverse transcriptase (TERT) which replenishes these things called telomeres that are basically junk DNA on the end of a chromosome. When cells duplicate chromosomes they shorten slightly, the telomeres usually protect against that by sacrificing themself to keep the important DNA from deteriorating. Animals that produce TERT naturally, like the naked mole-rat, show no signs of aging and stay able to reproduce late in life. Basically it's theorized that telomere shortening is linked directly to organ failure in the elderly and a lot of aging-related diseases so if someone can produce TERT, they can probably stop a lot of aging related problems. So yeah that's an example of what I mean when I say "Science can help make the cult world more feasible and cool"
