"Well, it's not exactly healing if there's nothing to heal." He thought a bit what he should answer on the question but dismissing it wouldn't be a good idea. "Something's... Off, I might need to hide but I think it'll be fine for now." So much for having a fun conversation, he was getting really tense and it would be hard to get rid of it now.

"If you need to hide, the forest is full of places." He would suggest the cult but . . . he'd personally ruined that for everyone. "Also the catacombs. There's plenty underground for you." He hoped Aren was going to be okay though. He understood this level of tenseness all too well. "Can I help in any way?"

Aren looked around the room, feeling that he probably should hurry. "Going out in the forest wouldn't be a good idea. The catacombs would be a good alternative, but I need to go somewhere I can't be tracked." He stared at Tea and realised he should probably not leave Tea behind now. "And I need to go right now, but you need to follow me, just in case." he walked over to a long shadow and turned to Tea, gesturing to follow him.

Tea stiffened, the tenseness in Aren penetrating his skin and affecting his own sense of safety. Shuddering, he stepped towards Aren to follow. His skin crawled.

"No worries. It's as if you're swimming." Aren grabbed Tea's arm and pulled him in the shadow, feeling it was significantly easier than he thought it would be. He found a solid patch and tugged Tea in that direction as to not drop him down too fast. "Okay, this should be okay for now."

Tea was pulled into the dark and, like Aren had suggested, it was very much like swimming. Falling through the black, his head started spinning and it didn't stop. Even when his feet touched the ground again, he almost doubled over from how easily his head had started spinning. Leaning into the cultist's hold, he asked, "Where are we?"

Aren was glad they were in the shadows, he would probably have fallen over with Tea leaning against him. But nothing really had weight here so it didn't matter. He guided Tea to sit down still holding on to his sleeve, and sat down beside him. "I hope you don't mind me still holding your arm but I kind of need to or you'll be unable to move or breathe otherwise." though it probably wouldn't matter, most residents of the cult didn't need to breathe, the moving part would be a bigger problem. "This is what a shadow truly looks like." the tip of his hood was floating in front of him, illuminating a in a decent manner and reflecting off objects floating in the distance.

Tea clung to the other's arm. Breathing wasn't an issue, but not moving just . . . no. He saw light reflecting some indistinguishable objects and asked, "Um . . . how . . . did you gain access? To the shadows?"

"Hmm, I've always has some measure of control over shadows. First it was just controlling them in a way that they became solid. Though it swung an entirely different direction when I was twelve. Suddenly I could use it as a way of travelling but the way I figured that out was a grave mistake. It's also the reason why I had to leave my home town." he saw the dishcloth from earlier drifting by, he must have dropped it. "Let's just say I almost killed someone."

Aren nodded. He felt a lot less tense already. "Hmm, it was but I suppose it couldn't be helped." he whistled a small tune, and noticed in the distance some objects generated light that soon faded. "So what about you? How long have you been who you are right now?"

He shrugged noncommittally. "Little under a month?" He thought more about the question, relieved at the reduction of tension. "Born an empath and half skinwalker. Been struggling with empathy my whole life. Been struggling with skinwalker traits since puberty."

"Hm, a skinwalker since puberty? I thought so, I've met a few skinwalkers through my life so I already had the thought you were one too." He stood up holding on to Tea's shoulder and studies the surroundings. "You being an empath explains the sensitivity to feelings too. I think we need to go by the way, time goes weird here, it could be that it's already an hour later when we emerge." and he pulled Tea up. "One more question before I drag you to the nearest exit, namely, who is the creature who lives inside your head?"

Tea's head started spinning again, then he glanced warily at Aren. He . . . he knew about him? He knew about Gemmy? "There's a person in my head?" he asked, trying to determine how Aren knew about that.
Perhaps he should be more honest. It still came so naturally to lie about the demon. Old habits die hard, he guessed.

"Well, yes, I know because I'm still holding on to your arm, I need to put effort in keeping you moving here." He gestured at the hand that held on to Tea's arm with his free hand. "I'm essentially transmitting some of my powers to you, but by doing that your energy automatically transmits to me."
He paused and noticed Tea's expression, and his own expression changed into a frown, or as much as it resembled one. "And apparently that other being's presence too. Are you unaware of it or hiding something?"
