Tea wanted to know more, wanted to help somehow. He didn't want to dredge up old aches for Aren, though. So instead, he offered, "If you ever need me to, I'll help you get out in any way I can." It was the least he could offer Aren.

"If you want to know more, just ask, talking about it doesn't bother me." He somewhere knew Tea wanted to know more and after all, he had eighty years to learn and deal with it. "And thank you for the offer. I will try to offer a helping hand too if you would ever need it."

Tea shook his had. "I'm alive. It's the most I can ask for." Then he asked, "What would they use you for, anyway?"

Aren's swore he skipped a beat at the question and his breathing became unsteady. "That's... that's a rather though question." he leaned against the closet and steadied his breath. "I caught persons similar to you and me, or monsters as humans called it. The person's who wanted me to do that wanted more monsters to experiment on, to see how long it would take to break them, to see how long they'd survive torture and the like. Those who survived would just be turned into servants, some even sold off to people who didn't see them as more than domesticated animals." in the end talking about the other people who got hurt was the worst, and he felt he was shaking, and probably noticeably too. "I sometimes wonder where they are now."

Tea's blood ran cold. He was . . . he was staring at another version of himself. He . . . he didn't know how to feel about that. He had always sworn he'd hate himself if he met himself. But . . . he couldn't hate Aren. He couldn't.
He wanted to offer him a hug, but he settled for leaning towards Aren and placing a hand on the other's arm. A shock of pain went through him at the direct contact. "I'm sorry." He glanced at Aren's face. "There's no honor in being someone's harbinger."

Aren really tried not to cry at the contact, and the thing he was trying to avoid happened. He fell over and pulled Tea in a hug burying his face into Tea's form so the other didn't have to look at it. Whatever sound he made was muffled and roughly phrased. "I know." He felt the past catch up to him again, and in the end he felt pathetic, that he should apologize. And in the end he was the same as Tea.

Tea hugged back hard, feeling the other's pain. He squeezed his eyes shut, wishing he could take the pain from Aren. But he had his own. He was already suffering through this. Rubbing Aren's back, he instead sent him soothing vibes through where hey were touching. He tried to calm the other. It was the least he could do. It was certainly what he should do.

Aren felt awful, he feel as if he was burdening Tea with only more pain on top of the already existing pain. He might actually be making scratches in Tea's back, making tears in the fabric. Stress had made him in an incoherent sobbing mess. He couldn't help but relax though at the sensation on his back. He felt the soothing energy come through, and he shivered briefly before calmly leaning against Tea, and he closed his eyes, feeling the current pain starting to dissipate. His hood had slid backwards for a bit, probably to make space for air so its owner didn't forget to breathe.

Tea rubbed circles into Aren's shoulder blades, glad that he accepted the energy Tea was offering. It was always difficult for him when someone struggled against it. "You've still got the cult," Tea reassured. "You're safe here." He tried not to think of what he'd done to destroy the safe space. What mattered was that it was safe now. Still under Tapi.

Aren softly hummed in agreement. "It took me a while before I found a place like this, and even then I was worried I might lose it." He still had his face pressed against Tea, making his voice muffled, and he continued. "I was incredibly scared when the entire takeover happened, we might have lost and I'd have to leave again." He looked up at Tea, some last tears trailing of his face leaving slight purple stains. "How are you doing this? I can feel you're doing something to how I'm currently feeling."

Tea was hit by a wave of regret at the mention of the Puppeteers, but staved it off for Aren's sake. The other didn't need to know his whole had consisted of destroying places like this for the empowerment of his masters. Which meant he'd never felt this safe either. In a way, he still didn't feel safe.
Tea focused on the question to keep his energy flow steady and untainted. "Simplest way to explain it is if you feel something, I can feel it too. I can either use my own feelings to amplify that feeling or nullify it. If overwhelmed, I simply take on that feeling as well." Then they'd both be crying and shaking. "I'm nullifying your fears and amplifying your feeling of comfort with my energy right now." It makes everything less painful, easier to handle.

He nodded, interested at the explanation. "That's... That's a good power to have. Or well, if you refer to it in that way. Do you feel every kind of feeling others have?" he asked, suddenly feeling a sting of guilt at the realization that his emotional outburst probably awful for Tea. "I'm sorry for what just happened there. That probably was really uncomfortable for you."

Tea shook his head, assuaging Aren's guilt. "It wasn't." Feelings were strange and demanding. To deny them was to make the situation worse. "You needed it. I just happened to be here." Tea gave Aren a small smile. "I do feel every kind of feeling, through other people or on my own. The only people I feel nothing from are people without hearts." Literally. He fought back a shudder.

"Okay." the reply was hushed but at least still audible and Aren smiled back. "Lacking a heart does sound painful. It's good I still have mine then. Or sort of." He sighed, he felt himself getting incoherent and tired. "Let's just say I'm glad I can still feel."

Tea nodded. He used to long for the oblivion of not feeling. Now that he knew the sort of monster he'd be without a heart . . . it wasn't worth it. "I'll take feeling over not any day."
