Echo hesitated for a second, then nodded. That crystal started it all. She could lose everything. She could lose Dante. "I don't want to lose you." She whispered, the tears starting back up.

Echo looked up at him. "What if you don't have a choice?" She whispered. She knew the mate bond in her race could be rejected, but she didn't know how to formally reject it. Without doing it properly she could still be connected to her mate. She did know the basics of the rejection though.
