So just gonna put this out here. I saw this thread and while I don't post a lot I've got a lot to say about con planning due to over ten years in the business with some very very large cons.
The amount of money, work, and time required to start a con, especially one so niche, will outweigh what the end result would be.
There are so many contingencies you have to plan for, so many things that can go wrong (and they will. THEY ALL WILL), that running a full weekend show will probably end up closer to Dashcon than Comiccon.
So while meet ups at already established conventions are an amazing idea, or planning a cool meetup with everyone close to you is awesome, a convention for something as niche and selective as the Cult is not a sound plan.
Everyone will lose money and the only thing that's guaranteed in the end is resentment and tensions on the forum.
