"Sinny. No." Dexy had started by simply jiggling the handle, hoping the boggart who had slipped into the door and unintentionally (or intentionally) locked it behind himself would open it again. He did not. "Sinny." Her whispers were harsh. Her heart was pounding. God only knew what creature lived in the room Sinny had just invaded. He'd been good at helping her avoid cultists their first few days there. This was not what avoiding looked like. "Sinny," she growled, now twisting the handle before reaching into her messenger bag for a card to slide into the crevice and break in with. "Sinistro Liddell, when I get in there you are dead to me."
After a series of clicks and turns, she was in. At first, she was so taken with the cozy room she didn't think to look for her friend. Books. So many books. She smelled tea. Glancing at the stove, she saw a steaming kettle. That could mean two things: the resident just left or intended to return soon. With her luck, she knew which one it was.
A flaming tail popped into her line of view before her eyes landed on a table full of plates. Empty plates.
And a shrunken boggart with his mouth stuffed and headed for the fridge while making loud, "Om non nom," sounds.
"Sinny!" Dexy shouted, catching the boggart's attention only as he cracked the door open.
His response, much to her mortification, was a food muffled nonchalant, "There's blood in here."

When Gabriel had put on the kettle to sit down and work through the income he had made this month in his small shop downtown, he had noticed that he forgot the papers in the shop, with a sigh he had gotten up again to get them. Now the vampire was on his way back, with the said folder under his arm, when he noticed two things right before he got to his door. Firstly there was something off in his room. It smelled like human and another entity, one he could not categorise but back in his mind a voice or maybe a faint memory told him that the second smell was from something annoying, something scary.
Secondly and more obviously, the door was open. Gabriel may have forgotten the folder but locking his door, was something he would have never forgotten.
To conclude was, that someone had broken into his room and he suspected that they were after the gems and the gold that was inside. That would not have been the first time someone would have tried to get to that. With confident steps, Gabriel stepped closer and into his own room, seeing a person in the middle of it and a small black, catlike thing in front of his fridge, stating that there is blood in there.
"Of course there is blood in my fridge, I feed off it after all and as I see you fed off my pastries. May I ask who you two are and what you do in my room." His eyes darted directly around to the shelves, checking if the gems where still at their places, together with the books.

Dexy had just begun to wrap her hands around Sinny's scrawny figure, the boggart reaching out to grab the shelf when the voice startled her. She yelped in shock at the sudden appearance of the resident, head turning toward him as she leaned back too far and promptly fell on the ground. Sinny let out a twin scream as she hit her head on the table. She groaned, seeing stars and holding her now aching head as she felt Sinny scurry over her to shove himself in her bag. "The hell are you going, you bloody coward?" Dexy grumbled.
His only retort was, "You got this."
She let out a groan, feeling the bag shiver at her side. For someone who was supposed to be helping her, he was being a damn problem. Sitting up slowly, she kept her eyes closed and held one hand up at the resident of the room. Not all of what he had said registered with her yet, but her first response was, "I'm sorry. My friend," she smacked the bag, "found himself in here and I was trying to get him out before he took anything." A tremor of fear welled up in her. Goddammit Sinny. "I'll replace everything he ate, I swear."

The vampire watched this chaos going down, still rather confused on what was happening in his room. When the seemingly young lady fell down and hit her head, he immediately stepped closer, with a worried look on his face. He dd not intend to scare anyway, even if it where people who had been breaking into his room, besides that only pastries were missing and nothing else, giving Gabriel not really a reason to be angry. "Oh I see, he must have been hungry then. I should get a better lock on my door." He stood in front of her now, eyeing the moving bag, before he got her Hand to gently pull Dexy up. "I appreciate the apology, but you don't need to replace the pastries. I get new ones every second day anyway and I am glad if they don't go to waste. What is your name if I may ask, and that of your friend." She seemed to sound like she was from Britain which sparked an interest in the man, and this had not been the weirdest way Gabriel met new people."I'm Gabriel Rowe, nice to meet you. You must be new around here, I have not seen you yet in these halls."

Dexy noted how cold his palm was as she stood, still holding her head with one palm, she glanced to the still open refrigerator. Rubbing the knot forming on her head, she straightened her hat and uttered, "I'm Dextra Liddell. Sinistro is my thieving companion." She sighed, still clasping his palm. It was so chilly. "He's always hungry. You'd think he'd learn not to take food by now." After the incident that had put them here. She shuddered. She couldn't really remember it but . . . it had not been good. "I'm quite new, I'm afraid. I haven't had much time to get used to . . .," cold hand. Blood. He consumed blood. Her tongue froze midsentence as everything clicked.
She was shaking hands with a vampire.
Or something like it.
She didn't immediately pull away, but getting herself to speak again while her heart was beating rapidly was borderline impossible. Her one saving grace was feeling Sinny's tail slide from the bag to wrap around her elbow comfortingly. A promise he would not be so quiet if he wasn't sure she was safe. An unspoken, "I've got you."
Gasping, she swallowed hard before calmly pulling free of Gabriel's grasp. "I am sorry. I'm a bit anxious." One tended to be when they managed to break into the abode of a vampire.

"Ah well, I am afraid there is not much left I can offer him to eat, only tea to drink and a bit of green tea creme, I store for a friend of mine."Gabriel listened to her until he felt the rapid change of heartbeat, the smell of fear in the air and her look, the silence.
When the hand was pulled away he knew that she had recognized what the vampire was, he was used to people reacting strange to hat fact, what surprised him though, was that he saw this reaction in another cult member. After all they normally were creatures stronger than him, or at least more intimidating. But she was a human after all. "That is alright dear, I won't harm you. I do not intend to do such a thing. Nor did I plan to bite you. But if you like you can stay for a nice cuppa. Being new in such a strange place like this is rather confusing at times and it is good to get into contact with new people." He waved to the table, with the now empty plates. "Take a seat if you wish."

Dexy shuddered again. Normal. Meeting new and previously believed to be mythical creatures was normal. But of course. Did she always think Sinny was a fluke in an otherwise human world? She wasn't foolish.
But she had never met any others until recently.
And here she was with one popular media had romanticized to death. She didn't know whether to apologize for humanity or ask which incarnation was true. She stayed in the middle, hoping against hope he was being truthful in that he bore them no ill will. Granted he should. They had broken into his chamber. "I," he'd offered them tea. How could she say no? She turned red. "I . . . are you certain? You're being awfully hospitable to a pair of delinquents, don't you think?" Though her eyes were catching on the bookshelf again. She wasn't going to lie. She wanted desperately to see what he had, but had a feeling she should wear gloves before touching.

Gabriel waited for her to react and when she did, he smiled friendly at the human. "Well of course, i mean it. I met one of my very closed loved ones because she stumbled into my room, smelling the gold and the gems I have, so this is not the first encounter I have with guests who appear in a not very traditional way." He walked over to the stove and turned it back on, to let the kettle cook the water again. then he put down the folder on the desk in the corner. He also had noticed her look to his bookshelves when she spoke. It just increased his smile. "Your eyes tell me that you are interested in my literature too. It would be shame, I enjoy sharing what I have."

She couldn't lie to him. The books tempted her. Taking the seat he had previously offered, she asked, "What do you read? I mean . . . you must have had a lot of time to read. I mean, I don't know how old you are but--," she bit her lip. Slow down Dextra, she warned herself. How rude was it to ask a vampire his age? Were they like women in that most of their mystery was in their perceived age? She wasn't sure. Having Sinny's tail still wound around her arm helped though. It assured her she was still safe. "What genre do you like best?"

Gabriel would have been amused about hoe she acted but he remembered that she was still nervous and even afraid. He could smell it still hanging in the air. Instead he just simply walked over to the dresser he kept the various tea assortment he had. "Oh, I like to read fairy tales, mainly old ones and I do like most of the Lovecraftian Horror ,Mystery ,Romanticism and even some fantasy. I am rather picky there to be honest, since the only author I found that I enjoyed in the fantasy genre, was Terry Pratchett. Now what kind of tea would you like, before you tell me what you enjoy to read." He stepped aside so she had a view on the dresser full of various tea packages. "Would your friend also like a cup?"

She gazed over at his dresser. "Um . . . any black tea will do really. And," she glanced down at Sinny, still stuffed in her knapsack, "I suppose he can have a bowl of creamer if you have one." She heard grumbling from within the bag and she smacked at it lightly. If he insisted on hiding like a cat, she supposed she should treat him as such. "He has enough energy as is, he doesn't need anymore caffeine." She could hear him sticking his tongue out at her. She promptly ignored him. "I have actually been meaning to read Good Omens," she said. "I think Sir Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaimon collaborated on it. So far I rather like Crowley." She thought about her preferred genres and actually had to squint. "I have read too many romance novels to know the formula. I actually keep up to date on young adult fiction." Or she tried to. "It's good to know what nonsense is filling the minds of young people. Helps you understand their thinking."

"I think an Earl Grey would be okay then." He took out a package of tea and put it on the table, preparing two infusers for two cups, before precisely closing and putting the tea away again, taking out a small plate. On his way back he took the creme out of the fridge, preparing a small heap that went on the plate, before the creme was gone to it's place again as well. "Yea Sir terry Pratchett was part of that book but I personally did not read it yet, I am trying to get through the diskworld series first before i focus on something else again, at least for now." It seemed like the vampire was a rather tidy person, with him putting everything back, right after he used it. Once gain he returned to the desk, now with milk in a small can, which he put on the table. "Ah, romance novels where something I rather stayed away from after a while. they tend to repeat themselves and I am not that much of a fan on how they are written either." he hummed as he stopped the kettle to pour the hot water into the cups. It was just the right temperature to make the Earl Grey taste not bitter.
"That is indeed a rather interesting but understandable reason to read young adult fiction." Gabriel needed to shudder at the thought of Twilight. he had unfortunately come in contact with that series and it made his stomach turn on how bad it was written. She probably has read it if she did read young adult fiction, and on top of that, romance.

She noted the shudder, and somehow knew his thinking. "Let me guess: Vampire Diaries? Twilight?" The first she hadn't gotten into, but the second was so . . . poor she had to keep reading to figure out what happened next. She felt Sinny shift in her bag as Gabriel prepared everything. Unwinding his tail from her arm, she placed said bag on the floor. She vaguely heard him whine at the action before adding, "I find that I prefer Amelia Atwater-Rhodes and her Den of Shadows books. Her take on vampires is interesting. Though," she clasped her hands in her lap and looked down, slightly embarrassed, "you'd be a bigger expert on that subject." She directed the topic to what he had mentioned reading. "I should get into Discworld. I've been told over and over it is worth the read."

"Ah yes those books." One could hear the disgust in Gabriel's voice very clearly. "They have put a few more stigmas on what humans think I am, and on top of that they are just really badly written. I quite dislike romance novels in general. After over a hundred of years you can see the pattern and it gets boring rather fast." The man put the cup in front of his guest and the plate with creme in front of the bag, before he went over to the other side of the table to sit down himself. "I don't know Den of Shadows, maybe I should look into that. If it is not ultimately badly written it can be quite amusing to read about what humans assume vampires can do." He chuckled shortly. "If you want to, I can lend one of my Discworld novels, Miss Liddell. I do not mind sharing my boos, except of course those that have a sentimental and physical value. But as a book lover yourself you surely understand that as well. I can really recommend the works of Terry Pratchett, he takes a rather amusing satyric kind of way on our society into the books. But it is subtle and not as bold as most comedy today." With precise handwork and after exactly three minutes, Gabriel took out the infuser and put it on a small plate in the middle of the table before he added sugar and milk into his own cup and stirred it with a spoon. "But if you are interested in the older more valuable books, you can read them here. I just don't like them leaving my side. I got almost all of them from a friend as gifts over the century and I am rather fond of them."

Dexy looked down to see Sinny's nose exposed just enough so that his long tongue could extend and lap at the creme. She watched him for a moment before picking up her own cup, cradling the warm thing in her hands and watching the steam drift upward. "It is maturely written for someone who published her first book at thirteen. I found it very nicely done, but again you'd be the expert." She thought about asking about real vampirism as opposed to the fictional variety. She decided to table those questions for afterward. Perhaps when they were better acquainted. "I would love to borrow a copy. If the humor is similar to The Hitchhiker's Guide, then I will most definitely enjoy it." She glanced to the books on his shelves, a hint of curiosity rearing its head yet again. This time she didn't hold back. "What sort of old books do you have?"
