She nodded before reaffirming the other, "Very sure." Evelyn shifted her stance causing the flames to flicker and waver in a curious manner.
"Surely I must be! I doubt anything could be going wrong. They're so strong and scary- so I bet whatever might be an issue is being taken care of," Evelyn paused for a moment, "I believe in them."
She began to look around at her surroundings, humming in a pensive tone, "So what were you looking for again? Beasts and animals that've escaped? Sounds spooky, especially in this fog..." The candle demon slowly reached up, pulling her hood over her head, her candles fitting through the holes that were cut out for them. She then fixed her cloak back so it left her fully covered. Evelyn then simply walked past Lydia, a surprisingly chagrin smile upon her lips, "Hopefully you have fun gathering them!"

There was some comfort in the other's certainty, and Lydia nodded slowly, more to herself than anyone else. She looked up as Evelyn slid past her, hood and cloak replaced so she looked like a shadow gliding through the reeds. She spun on her heel, determined to keep the other in her sight. "Around here, a particular swamp beast, so I'm not sure how much fun I could really have," Lydia said, frowning slightly.
She stood in place for a moment, watching as Evelyn slipped farther and farther away for a couple seconds before racing and catching up with her, walking just to the other's left. "Would it be unfair to walk next to you, if just for a little while?" she asked, well, pleaded more accurately. For such a calm setting, something felt wrong in the swamp and she suddenly very much did not want to be alone.

Evelyn was aware of the other as they were sure to follow. Her grin doubled in size, if it was even possible with how large it already was, "I think it would be exciting to chase after and catch a large beast!" She replied with enthusiasm, "Just imagine the street credit you'd get after that- 'Lydia, the cult member who caught a swamp beast with her bare hands'!"
It probably sounded a bit silly, though it was something to be expected from Evelyn Leigh. Slowly, she turned her gaze to the fellow cult member, tilting her head to the side, "Oh? I wouldn't mind at all. I do love company." She chirped, clasping her hands behind her back. The candle demon then easily jumped over a half submerged log, riddled with decay and over growth.

She couldn't help but blush at Evelyn's words, looking away at the reeds and grass to try and hide her face. She laughed nervously, grinning sheepishly. "Yeah, I guess." She was relieved that the other didn't mind her company, at least; and continued along just trying to reclaim her emotions for a moment. "I wouldn't really say catch is the right word, though. They're intelligent compared to a lot of animals, so it'd be easier just to coerce it into coming back rather than capturing it."
She looked around, her eyes coating with pale blue as she looked for any other living creatures. In the distance, some larger creature was obviously roaming the area, a blob only barely visible, but otherwise the area was a dark wasteland, void of life or color. Instinctively, she turned to where the creature was, pausing momentarily. She blinked back, and turned back to the other cultist. "If you're lucky, you might get that chance," she said.

Evelyn didn't let the flushing of their more human skin escape her notice. She giggled under her breath, finding it to be a very odd yet adorable sight! Of course with her skin being such a bruised blue color, blushes never were all that identifiable, "Oh? Well surely someone with your smarts could coax this beast into it's own demise."
The candle demon continued to 'float' along next to Lydia, seeming to be extremely comfortable and nonchalant with her situation. If anything, she was in her own state of whimsy. She peered over to the other, raising an eyebrow, "Oh? Well what a treat!" Clasping her hands together, Evelyn attempted to tune out Ralphie as he was bitching and moaning about the entire predicament. How he wanted this and that, or how he just wanted to ditch her duties and go home already. How crude!

Lydia tried her best to hide her embarrassment as her face grew redder by the second, turning away and fixing her eyes firmly on the ground. It was an uncomfortable feeling, and while the compliments only warmed her heart it also reminded her of exactly why she didn't get into Cult-related drama too often. For whatever reason, she was always unable to hold her resolve. "I-I guess," Lydia stammered after a moment. "Maybe not to its demise exactly, though."
She relaxed a little at the other's excitement, and shrugged. "I suppose that's one way to view it," she said, attempting to dim the rosy glow in her cheeks. "Say, do you hear another voice?" Lydia asked, turning to Evelyn. "I might just be hearing things, but I could swear I hear a third voice coming from somewhere."

Evelyn clicked her tongue, about to say something, however, it seemed Ralphie wanted to say his peace, "Whatever you say hot cheeks." She chimed, though her own voice wasn't as identifiable. Instead it sounded a bit more deadpan and slightly deeper. Blinking slowly, she cleared her throat, her smile becoming a bit strained, "Excuse me."
She looked over at Lydia, raising an eyebrow, "Third voice?" Immediately her mind flew to Ralphie. She gritted her teeth for a moment, "What does it sound like? Maybe it's a ghost!"

A shiver went up Lydia's spine at Evelyn's voice morphed for a moment, in part from what the other had just said and in part from that her voice had just changed a noticeable amount. Any sort of bashfulness was gone in a split second, and she froze, turning to Evelyn in pure horror. "Uh, a whole lot like that," she said tensely.
Lydia scanned the other over for a moment to make sure that there weren't two people in front of her. No.. still only one mass of life energy. "Care to explain what that was?" she asked.

Evelyn stopped walking immediately, her gaze fixated far off in the distance. Her smile was getting ready to break, merely an upturn of the lips and gritted teeth were all that remained. She could feel Ralphie attempting to crawl to the top, but she wouldn't let that happen, "No! I said no. Go back to complaining... make a b- No! Make a big deal out of something else." She seemed to be arguing with herself.
Evelyn crossed her arms as if holding herself together, "I'm- I'm really sorry I wasn't talking to you. It's a really hard thing to-" She cut herself off to scoff, and quietly, she pinched her belly, huffing angrily. Well this was great.

Lydia furrowed her eyebrows, growing more confused by the second. "It's a hard thing to what?" she asked, her frown deepening. She tilted her head, her eyes dropping down momentarily as she followed the other's suddenly strained actions, unsure if her conversation partner was going crazy or there was something she was missing. "Who or what are you talking to?"
She wanted to think that Evelyn was just going a little crazy, but something about the conviction with which she appeared to be fighting herself was unsettling. Lydia took a step back, looking around at their dark surroundings nervously. "Maybe I should leave you to figure out.. whatever you're doing," she said slowly.

Evelyn bit her lip, attempting to straighten out her back so she was no longer curling in on herself, "Hard thing to explain, it's really complicated." She breathed, "I'm talking to... urgh." She groaned, holding her forehead. She could feel Ralph's energy swelling up, dousing her brain in negative thoughts and a perturbing feeling of annoyance.
Evelyn took a few deep breathes, looking over at the other with wide eyes, "No! No.. Don't leave, I swear it's not a big deal. Let me explain!" She exclaimed, her voice panicky. The last part wasn't really directed at Lydia however, "I have this thing. It's a bothersome thing." She began.
The candle demon slowly began to lift up her shirt, just enough to fully expose her belly. There was the sentient eye, now on display, "This is Ralphie. Say hi." She grumbled, the eye narrowing at Lydia, "He lives-- in me. He's his own person, I guess. You can't hear him, but I can. He's really a handful sometimes! Always trying to take over my body and do some other weird stuff. It's a lot." Evelyn explained, her voice exasperated.

Lydia tried not to show her surprise and slight mortification, but couldn't help her eyes widening just a little bit at the sight of Ralphie. If not in appearance, the idea of having another living on you as a parasite was uncomfortable. "Er, okay," she said slowly. On one hand, she wanted to feel sympathy for what that must feel like, but on the other hand, everything about this was just a couple shades of weird, even for her.
"I don't mean to come off as rude, so I'm sorry if I do," Lydia said slowly, staring at the eye that was with some animosity glaring up at her, "but has this thing -Ralphie- always lived, er, in you?" she asked. Sharing one life source, it was the only thing she could assume. According to Evelyn, this thing was its own person, though.. she frowned to herself, looking down at the ground for a moment as she thought.

Evelyn couldn't express the fifty shades of shame she was feeling at the current moment. She hated showing Ralphie off especially to people she liked or cared about. All it meant for her and them was trouble. If one looked close enough, they could be able to clearly recognize that her cheeks and nose were a touch darker than the rest of her otherwise lighter blue complexion.
She attempted to not cringe, though she couldn't help herself. She shuffled her feet nervously, her grin beginning to fail her, "No no, you're fine! I ehm... Yes. He's always lived with me." Evelyn replied, trying to block out Ralphie's voice from her mind, though it was almost impossible. He was on a morbid tangent, barely giving her any room to think. Rather, she was beginning to feel a bit fatigued as Ralph used up her energy, the candles protruding from her head glowing a bit dimmer than usual.

Lydia could practically feel the shame rolling off of Evelyn, and she practically felt secondhand embarrassment from it. "Oh, uh, if you say so," Lydia said, turning away. The other cultist was so obviously agitated she almost wished she'd stayed quiet; their very life energy seemed to be dimming even as she watched.
"You don't have to keep showing Ralphie off to me, you know," she said awkwardly after a moment passed of neither of then speaking. She looked to the side less out of wanting an out now than out of pure social awkwardness, her mind scrambled just a little with her emotions running amok. So scrambled, for that matter, that even though a small bell began going off in her head about a very large, alive something had come into her radius, she ignored and focussed at the moment only on not saying something that would the moment even more awkward for them both.

She inhaled slowly before sighing through her nose, rubbing her temples, "God, just let me consentrate- I can't do anything until you shut up already! Just- no, I didn't say that you f- maybe, so what? You're just being a jealous little twat. It's my body more than it is your's so watch what you say about it." Evelyn continued to host the one-sided conversation, presumably with Ralphie.
Eventually, she seemed to give up, pulling her hood taught in a means to hide her face, "Y-yeah well I think I should take my leave now- let you continue your mission, I'll continue mine. Again, I'm sorry about this." She concluded, giving a shaky nod in acknowledgment before turning to leave, her feet unable to keep up with the orders they were receiving from her troubled brain which was currently under a great deal of stress.
