"That makes two of us. Shall I make us another pot just in case?" It seemed they might need it. Staying up was the better option at times. This was one of those times.
He almost wished he could get himself to eat. He might have an easier time resting on a full stomach. Or it might make it worse. He wasn't sure, actually. Wasn't sure what he wanted.

Eve looked down at the tea and shrugged. “Sure, why not?” The taste wasn’t actually that bad, considering her lack of appetite, which was quite a constant. It was better source of energy than eating mountains of sugar. She stood up. “And uh, mind if I watch? I haven’t really worked the stove and the tea is pretty good after all.”

"Not at all." He stood aside, allowing her to come up and witness as he filled the kettle and put it on an eye. Turning a knob, he then took his boxes down and asked, "Want to try a new one? Maybe one with more caffeine?"

“More caffeine?” Eve asked, her eyes lighting up a bit as she saw the various tea boxes. She stood next to him and began looking through the various labels and tags on the boxes. She paused for a moment and looked up and him, cocking her head a bit. “Did anyone ever tell you that you’re ridiculously tall?”

Tea stopped, then snorted much louder than he anticipated. His smile was wide as he turned to gaze at her. "Yin, when we first met." He was making sure she didn't make a break for it and she was less concerned about his inhuman features and more concerned about his height. He shook his head wistfully. The was a nostalgia he experienced, thinking about that time in the cult. There was also the duty of reporting back to Lance and Liam. He tried not to think of that. Tried harder to think of Yin's explanation on how tall he was. "Not sure why that is, though. My dad was only six six. My mom was five ten. Blame being a mutant, I guess." He grabbed a purple box and showed it to her. "Darjeeling is the stuff that gets me high. From what I hear, it doesn't have the same effect on anyone else. Wanna try it?"

Eve froze when he stopped, dread building up inside at the thought of it being a wrong comment. Relief washed over her when he smiled at her, and she grinned at back. She didn’t recognize the name, but it must’ve been a happy memory at the very least. She couldn't help grinning back. “Well, that does make sense. I actually thought it was just me being tiny.” Her height had always been an odd factor she never could change; probably because Skylar had a fondness about being taller than the angel. A soft pang of grief struck her, and she swallowed and drummed her fingernails against the counter. When he held out the box for her to see, she took the box from his hands and inspected the tea inside and smiled at the scent. “Yeah, I definitely wanna try this.”

Tea smiled, then started the process of preparing the cups while continuing to show her the simplicity of making tea. That was one of the things he liked most about it. "Making tea kind of forces you to slow down, breathe, relax. If you don't, you'll hurt yourself. It's good for clearing your head, or helping you focus on what needs fixing." So far he hasn't been able to solve any issue without at least one cup of hot tea. "I try to cold brew too, but the process is less interactive. You stick a fused in a pitcher and leave it in the fridge. That's where it ends. Come back the next day and there you have it. It's good if you need a quick spot of tea, but not if you're looking for process."

“By that explanation, I would’ve avoided basically all of my current problems if I made tea a few months ago,” Eve commented, leaning over the counter and grabbing a mug. She didn’t recall ever having the patience or time for that, especially just for a drink. Then again, she hadn’t needed a caffeine boost before. “And by the way you say it, it sounds like making tea is a philosophy for life of something. Not a bad one, though.”

Tea smirked, letting out a small chuckle. "You could say it is. Keeps me calm at least." And fed. Tea was the only thing he consumed. "It's a pretty good way of life considering . . .," he trailed off. He was about to say 'considering my old one.' He cut himself off, not really up for bringing it up. It was painful for both of them. "Anyway it . . . it helps. A lot."

Smiling was getting easier, despite the melancholy tone still lingering in the conversation. Eve shrugged, leaning onto the countertop. “I like it. It’s one of the better philosophies I can get out of life considering everything else. If calm is the best I can get out of it, well…” The nightmares had been the norm in her life for awhile, but that didn’t stop her from waking in cold sweat with her heart beating out her chest. “Then it’s definitely gonna help. So… thanks.”

Tea returned the smile, nodding. "Anytime." He gestured to his cabinet of tea. "I keep a lot on hand, but you're welcome to it whenever you need. If you want to try new stuff from a larger collection I suggest talking to Gabriel." That vampire's collection was massive and Tea got excited thinking about it.

Eve nodded like she knew the name. In all likelihood, she’d probably seen the cultist he mentioned at some point, but she hadn’t learned many names during her time there. The only reason she had known Tea’s was because he was infamous in the cult for obvious reasons. “This should be fine, if you really don’t mind. I’m probably still gonna find some sweets too, so there’s that too.”

Tea nodded. "I've got a companion I leave candy for in the dark. I'll save some for when I see you." Which reminded him, he needed to check on Araneus at some point. Maybe he'd want some more pomegranate raspberry.

Eve nearly waved off his offer, but the temptation of free candy wasn’t one she was about to decline. “Really? What kind?” Asking this felt somewhat stupid, since she had already shown her sugar addiction had no bounds. Being picky on what he would offer required more self-control than she ever had.

"Any kind really. Mostly hard candies though. I'm told they're good for the throat and last long." He couldn't see them lasting long with himself. He tended to chew on whatever was in his mouth, even his own tongue.
