DestinyJoyHopeTea's room was occupied at the moment, and sleeping on the floor had already come up as a touchy subject between himself and the current person in his bed. So he had cooked the other some food and left it on the nightstand, made himself some tea, and was now lying on the couch with his legs hanging over the arm. The teabag hung from his mouth as he dozed, completely unaware of his surroundings.

Eve didn’t know why she was trying to find him. She had always dealt with it by herself before, and it was just as bad as it usually was. She didn’t understand why her first instinct was to find him. She didn’t really have much mental space for anything, much less thinking. The only thing filling her head was the sound of the metal vehicle colliding with the girl on the street and then the begging and-
She nearly ran right past him when she entering the living quarters, but she didn’t expect someone to be on the couch at what was probably two in the morning. Granted, he was unconscious. She hesitated at waking him up; she was probably just overreacting. She could deal with it herself, couldn’t she? No use of bothering other people with her own problems.
He did offer her any time though. She approached him and squeaked out, “Tea?” Her voice was much smaller than she thought it would come out as.

Tea's eyes slid open at the quiet call of his name. Blinking rapidly, he let out a small inquisitive groan. Sucking heavily on the bag in his mouth, he pushed it to the side with his tongue so he could speak properly. Sleep clouding his night vision slightly, he wouldn't have been able to spot the angel with plain human eyes. "Eve?" he asked as he pushed himself upright on the couch. He rubbed his face with one palm, then asked, "What's got you up so early?"

“Nothing.” She replied automatically, and cringed a bit. The habit hadn’t faded at all. “I mean- Well, I’m normally up this late anyways. Or early, technically.”
This was a bad idea. What made her think that this was a good idea? She looked downward at her feet, biting her tongue. “I just… it was a bad dream.” Well, that was an understatement. But it was all she really could admit at the moment, and once she heard it aloud, it sounded really childish. “Sorry, I shouldn’t have woken you up. It’s dumb.” It wasn’t. “I’ll talk to you lat- Scratch that. You don’t have to. I’ll go now.”

He quickly caught her arm, trying to keep her from going. He dropped his palm immediately. "Sorry, um," he hesitated. "You wanna talk about it?" Sometimes it helped. He also knew it hurt. "At least let me make you some tea. Or any drink really. It helps to calm down after a dream." With that, he spit the now flavorless bag of tea into his palm, ready to throw it out once he got up.

She jumped and stumbled back when he grabbed her. Her eyes flickered back at him and down to her feet in thought, as if she were trying to find some ulterior motive to his offer. She felt her nails dug into her palm, the pain grounding her. Not looking back up, she replied, “Y-yeah. I’ve never really had tea before anyways.” At most, she liked hot chocolate, but she it was mainly because she had a fondness for sugar.

Tea got up, motioning for her to follow. Leading her into the dark kitchen, he didn't bother turning on any lights as he threw away his bag and pulled down two mugs and his kettle. Using the cups to fill the kettle with water, he asked, "What flavor would suit you better? Fruit? Earth? High power or low? Got many kinds." Putting the pot on the stove to boil, he added, "And milk, honey, or sugar. All are available for you."

She trailed behind him as they entered the kitchen. She held back a bit and watched as he put the kettle on the stove. “Anything, I guess,” Eve shrugged, and reached for the jar of sugar. She grabbed a large spoon, stuck it in the sugar, and scooped out as much as the spoon could carry. She then proceeded to dump it in her mouth and swallowed hard. She wiped her mouth with her sleeve and went for the bottle of honey. She hesitated on drinking the contents directly this time, and turned to Tea and asked, “How long is the tea gonna take?”

"The water boils in about . . . two or three minutes. Then I pour it over the tea and it pitches for another two to five minutes depending on what kind of tea." Then he pointed out, "You can always add ice to cool it down." Or drink it straight from the pot like him, which he did not recommend. Noticing her want for sugar, he pulled out pomegranate raspberry tea. Liquid candy, as he'd once told Aren. He figured Eve would also appreciate it.

Waiting for him to finish, Eve opened the bottle of honey and poured some directly into her mouth while watching him prepare the tea. She didn’t drink nearly as much honey as she did sugar, since more sugar would probably make the crash more than she could handle. “I don’t care if it’s hot. Keeps me awake,” She replied and began to play with the bottle in her hand as she watched the pot.

The kettle whistled and Tea poured the water over the bags and sugar he had spooned into the cups. When he finished pouring, he set the pot aside and turned to slide her cup across the counter to her. "Don't burn your tongue," he said like he hadn't done just that countless times. Holding his own mug he leaned back against the counter and tried to think of a way to address her nightmares. Then again, he probably shouldn't. He wouldn't be prepared to explain his own if asked similarly.

Eve nodded and took the mug and tasted the steaming drink. It was sweet; although the fact she had dumped honey and sugar into her mouth earlier could’ve contributed to that fact. She held the mug in her hand, only partially listening to his warning, rather letting the heat burn her hand. He didn’t say anything after, and she let the silence linger, gripping the hot mug a bit too tight. She wasn’t entirely sure how to break it. It also wasn’t like she was exactly excited about jumping into the details of her nightmare, even though it was the reason she woke him up in the first place. Looking down at her drink, she said, “...thanks for the tea.”

"You're welcome." He held his own mug, sipping the boiling liquid casually as if he hadn't just poured it straight from the pot. He decided the best way to get her comfortable would be to talk about his own nightmares. Of course . . . he would rather just gloss over them than go into full detail. She didn't need to know all he'd seen. No one did. "When I dream of my masters, I have to drink something like this to calm down. Or else I'd be jittery." He was actually about to start getting jittery just thinking about what dreams had come for him in the past.

She didn’t look up when he started talking, trying to slowly ease her into the idea of her dreams. She brought the mug to her lips and swallowed as much liquid as she could in one gulp. The burning sensation that ran down her throat didn’t help like she thought it would. It wasn’t enough to distract her from her night terrors; or more of the crushing guilt that was behind them. She still let her hands grip the burning mug tightly, not willing to let it go just yet. She let herself wonder for a moment whether she should simply clug it down to see if that would make any difference, but the thought of drinking any more of it sickened her. Despite its scorching heat, she could taste the sweetness and it didn’t fit her current state. Her gaze still focused on steaming drink in her hands, she responded, “Normally I just… deal with it.” Not like she allowed herself many more options.

He nodded, noting her anxieties. He wished she wouldn't be so hard on her throat. The burning hurt, he knew personally. Sipping his own tea long and thoughtfully he asked, "You just try to ignore it?"
